Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Tuesday

If professional football is to return to the Los Angeles Coliseum, it may find the USC Trojans as one of its main stumbling blocks. The LA Times reports that in order for the Coliseum rennovation deal to make financial sense, the stadium lease may need to be turned over to the NFL. That could put an end to the sweetheart deal USC has had with the facility since 1923. USC points out that it has stayed with the arena through thick and thin when the Rams, Raiders and UCLA have all come and go. The University's critics say however USC is acting like a spoiled brat and needs to get with the program.

LA Citywatch is out with a special edition following last weekend's election of its leadership. As reported before, Brady Westwater was elected Chairperson and Jim Alger Vice-Chair.

The Manicatack blog reports that the National Lawyers Guild, among others, plans to hold a press conference Tuesday morning to protest police treatment of anti-Minuteman protestors at a rally this past weekend. The protestors claim police officers beat them without provocation.

Tuesday morning, Mayor Villaraigosa will view new surveillance equipment that's been installed over the past year at the MTA's rail operation control facility.

At 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Chief William Bratton will appear on Patt Morrison's radio show on KPCC, 89.3 FM.

10:32 am -- the needle on your player is definitely stuck in an irritating groove. Is the neighborhood council piece the only thing you could think to comment on -- or is this Mitch again and again and again?

Do we as City taxpayers, actually give Mitchell Englander a check to sit on blogs and spew his dreck? Call Laura Chick!

The Coliseum has been a dump for decades. Two pro football teams have deserted it. After the 1994 Northridge earthquake instead of blowing it up and building a state of the art stadium they spent 100 million to "fix" a few cracks and it is still a dump with no parking, terrible sighlines, no luxury boxes and not worthy of a NFL franchise. The 100 Mil would have been a nice down payment on a new stadium.

Alger recently stated on Mayor Sam's that he does not have a problem with Mitch Englander but he, or members of his vicious post club, are likely the person(s) who suggest that Englander posts on this site while at work.

Alger and team regularly spread rumors in the form of half truths and lies. Look out Brad, you are next.

Councilmember Jose Huizar’s motion to increase school board members’ salaries to the same as that for council members once again shows that he has a political tin ear.

First, Jose wants an increase in salary for school board members at the same time that the Mayor is going to decrease the Board’s involvement in district affairs. So, I guess Jose’s reasoning is pay school board members more for doing less.

Second, most employers increase salaries for their workers for a job well done. Jose would like to turn that conventional wisdom on its head and increase salaries at the same time there is increased violence on campuses and over a 50% drop out rate. I guess this is Jose thinking outside the box.

The silver lining to this: Jose is on the Council where he can do less damage to our kids and thankfully not on the School Board.
