Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Monday
Mayor Villaraigosa held a press conference Sunday evening in which he urged participants in Monday's immigration protests to remain peaceful, wave the American flag and sing the National Anthem in English. Depsite earlier reports that said the Mayor will be in Dallas for NFL meetings, the Mayor says he will be in City Hall Monday, working, and will not attend a rally scheduled for Monday morning/afternoon. What was less clear was if Villaraigosa will participate in another rally scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Monday. The Mayor's aides say that at some point Monday, he will fly to Dallas for the previously scheduled NFL meetings.Related stories:

The California Democractic party has endorsed State Treasurer Phil Angelides over State Controller Steve Westly for the Democratic nomination for Governor. This is despite the fact that Westly leads Angelides in the polls and is even with Arnold Schawarzenegger. Regardless of the endorsement, Angelides needs to convince Democrats he's their man. May need to pimp out his daughters some more.
Jerry Brown gets some more good news in his race to secure the Democratic nomination for Attorney General. Polls show he has a greater lead over likely Republican challenger Chuck Poochogian than his primary opponent Rocky Delgadillo. As well, he received the overwheming endorsement of the California Democratic Party at their convention this weekend.

Check your facts, Mayor. There was no endorsement in the Attorney General race. Neither jerry nor Rocky got the 60% required. (I don't know the actual numbers.) It was obvious to anyone on the convention floor that the support was split when the two guys were talking in their "forum" with Willie Brown.
The support of the AG candidates was a lot more sincere than Westly's paid mob of kids in orange shirts. I could barely get into the main hall to cast my vote since they only left about a 3-foot-wide space between the escalator and the door to get in, chanting and handing out flyers, as if my Angelides shirt wasn't a dead giveaway of who I was voting for. It was nice to be able to freely roam around the convention center on Sunday without running into one of his roving packs.
The Fuentes mugshot should be public information. That would be really funny. He's an asshole. I've worked with him and he's a punk. He's another Acevedo puppet.
Parks said in an interview this weekend on Channel 4 that this illegal immigration marh is costing the city a lot of money. Can anyone guess just how much we'll lose because of these ungrateful people?
Enough of the Alex bashing, please! He is going to win. Plans are already in the works to register underage voters and the grateful dead at San Fernando Mission Cememetery.

There was no endorsement in the Attorney General's race. Had the endorsement process been a few weeks ago, Jerry Brown would have been endorsed. Rocky was able to block the endorsement was about neck and neck with the actual votes. The applause on the floor when the spoke was about even.
Wonder if this immigration march will hurt LA in getting NFL team. If you're the NFL and see how many illegals are in LA would you want a top notch team here? They've increased enormously since the Raiders left LA

You're more corrupt dead than alive. Honest politicians demand that you publish an immediate retraction of you false and misleading report that the Democrats endorsed Moonbeam. Rocky's going to kick his butt, and Democrats abhor violence.
The Westly supporters were NOT paid. I was one of them.
Rocky needs to learn how to be a city attorney first before seeking higher office. He can't even run his own staff let alone the state. Word is there's more lawsuits from his staff in the works.

Either way, it's a lose-lose situation. If the protests are "successful" at disruption (which is basically the purpose of a-day-without), legal citizens will grow more pissed at these arrogant, unappreciative, spongers with delusions of entitlement. If the protests are not successful then people will say "we got along fine without them." In both cases it will cost the city money (in preparation and readiness alone) so people will be reminded how much the illegals costs us. Bad idea. Big a$$ backfire.

Not only did Brown not get the Party endorsement this weekend (a good win for Rocky), but Rocky picked up the endorsement of the Sacramento Bee editorial board.

Im white. An anglo. Firstly, our mayor is not hiding. He is on radio, tv, in the papers talking about immigration and the protests. As all of you know, this Mayor will talk to any media outlet and is always on the record. Hiding is NOT something this Mayor has ever done.
Secondly, it seems that this protest is about respect. respecting the immigrants ( legal and illegal) who came here for a better life, who work hard, and just want to be respected for that work. I dont think thats asking too much. That doesnt mean that illegal immigration is OK. Any country has to have some type of control over their borders. I just say;dont blame the immigrants for wanting a better life.
The target of protests really should be the Mexican government. The Govt has been so corrupt and ineffective for..ever. Thats why mexicans are streaming over the border. Why doesnt everyone, ( mexican immigrants, the US Govt) put pressure on Mexico to get their act together?

As for the Westside and valley being upset w the Mayor. I would doubt that. What has he done thats so terrible? Ask that kids go to school, that marchers and protesters be peaceful, and that this Govt come up with a plan for the illegals who are here. he is being responsible. Nothing wrong with that. Read his comments carefully-he really is being responsible.
I'm pretty sick of hearing how "the illegals just want a better life". So do I! Only my life keeps getting worse because my city is packed with people who shouldn't be here. Even if they didn't use the health or school services (which we all know they do), just by being here they cost us money. Have you guys ever heard of "infrastructure"? The more populated an area, the more wear & tear on roads & sewer systems; more police & fire are needed; we can't even get into the housing issue. Whether anyone likes illegals or not, they cost legal tax-paying citizens a lot of money because illegals are by and large paid under the table (or at best, extremely low wages). We also know illegals don't pay driver's license fees, car registration fees or car insurance. Middle class and lower middle class citizens pay the most for illegals as we gain absolutely no benefit from the low-wage, unskilled work they perform for upper-middle class to wealthy (maid, nanny, gardner, etc.) But our taxes keep paying the infrastructure upkeep/repair costs, plus health and school...add in what they cost us in policing (large clusters of illegals equals a jump in crime) and you can see they are bankrupting America. So stop with the "better life for them" BS. I am not working my ass off so I can pay for the hispanics way of life.
