Wikipedia Deletes Mayor Sam

Wikipedia, the internet encyclopedia, is one of the greatest information resources on the web. Like a print encyclopedia, its comprehensive but has the immediacy of the internet or television.

Wikipedia bills itself as the "free encyclopedia anyone can edit." Indeed, a number of the articles on Wikipedia are contributed by readers.

Some time ago, we were proud that Joe Mailander of Martini Republic wrote the first draft of an article about the Sister City for Wikipedia. A well done piece of work, the article encapsulated what this blog is all about.

However, some of the nutjobs who spend their life on Wikipedia, something like an academic version of a Star Trek fanatic, apparently feel the article is not worthy of inclusion. This despite the fact that Wikipedia has an extensive term paper on Gilligan's Island as well as a write up on the Girls Gone Wild girly videos. A scholarly journal, Wikipedia is.

This is the tinhorn's little discussion on why we're not worthy to be in their archive. No problem, we're good enough for CNN, the LA Times, Los Angeles Magazine and the likes.

I think you guys should just put on your tin foil hats, and get back to work making the Valley suck even more than it does already.

Your posts are lazy round-ups of Daily News and L.A. Times articles. Is there nothing left to talk about in Los Angeles? A few months ago you guys were blogging live from election speeches.

Wikipedia sucks and is no measure of the value of anything. That being said, your site is becoming pretty freaking worthless, and it's understandable why the admins at Wikipedia wouldn't want you pimping yourself out as "The Home of L.A. Politics" on their bandwidth.
