Morning Coffee Break
LA Citybeat covers the 38th Assembly District race and perhaps the convetional wisdom that its a safe, Republican seat isn't so, conventional.
Either his career has taken a turn for the worse or mass transit in LA is a good thing for everyone. Last night somewhere in Hollywood, actor Jerry O'Connell, formerly of "Sliders," "Stand by Me," and now "Crossing Jordan" hopped on the Red Line, got off at the NoHo station and promptly boarded the Orange Line. O'Connell was spotted by two legislative staffers returning from Staples Center for the Clippers game.
Last night the LA Weekly website posted Jeffery Anderson's follow-up story on Rocky's $1.5 million wrongful termination trial loss to former Deptuty City Attorney Lynn Magnadonovan. Anderson reports that, in post-verdict statements, jurors pointed to a faulty investigation, unconvincing testimony by the City Attorney's witnesses, and the lack of documented poor performance by Magnadonovan.

Mr. "Republican" Mayor S,
What is your opinion on this particular AV news
"The changes also could include reducing the central bureaucracy staff from 3,100 to about 100, selling the headquarters of the Los Angeles Unified School District and keeping students in class until 5 p.m., the Los Angeles Times reported today"
WHAT DOWNTOWN DEVELOPER WOULD WANT THIS LAUSD BUILDING? ANY CLUES?

Why add more shit to deficit?
"2 Councilmen Back $1.5 Billion for Road Repairs"
On the same day that Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa proposed hiking the garbage fee to pay for more police, two Los Angeles councilmen called for a $1.5-billion ...

O'Connell is marrying Rebecca Romajin. That make his still hot by Hollywood standards Uncle Jesse is still hot too, come to think of it.
Full House crushes aside, I think its cool that celebs are taking public transportation in LA. Kinda makes the Red & Orange Lines hip, you know?

Seems the politicans are blood thirsty for our hard money. Bad timing for all of them to be coming out of the woodwork.

Why doesn't the poster saying another investigation on an elected just name that person? You've been posting anon so we won't tell.
Does anyone know if any depositions have been done on the Ludlow case yet? Isn't Ludlow suppose to get sentenced this month or did that already happen?
Anonymous said:

Mayor Sam you must get the video of Councilman Zine going off and losing his temper in yesterday's city council meeting. The South LA Farmers spoke at public comment and lied about an incident involving Zine and he went crazy yelling at them in chambers. Then the farmers all had to be escorted out cause they started cursing at Zine. Please get the video. The story is in Daily News but we need to see video. it will be on again on Saturday with the Jose video of his constituent going off on him.

Does anyone find this notion of a "South LA farmer" anachronistic?
Mayor Sam said:
If someone can tape it and get it to me in Windows media format, I'll do it.

Just saw a poll--no one expects to have to pay for the roads with a friggin' parcel tax--it can't even make it over a majority, let alone 2/3rds. Everyone knows that Cardenas is an idiot (and to do this the same day as the mayor is about as dumb as they come, unless he is trying to tank them both), but this makes Smith seem like he might be pretty fucking stupid, too.
