Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Monday
Residents in the northern LA County community of Leona Valley are working to oppose the opening of a drug treatment facility in their area. The facility will be run by the controversial Narconon organization which has ties to the Church of Scientology. Sheriff Lee Baca has put his seal of approval on the facility, much to the chagrin of local residents and anti-Scientology advocates. In the meantime, concern in some quarters grows over what appears to be growing and potentially questionable ties between Baca and Scientology (Click here and here).
They're baaaack!!! Senator John Kerry and his wife Teresa Heinz Kerry will tour the 31st Congressional District Monday with Rep. Xavier Becerra, D-Los Angeles, to discuss various immigration proposals.
Some of you have complained that we've been selective in our reporting of donation data from ElectionTrack.com on the 20th Senate District race between Alex Padilla and Cindy Montanez. So to keep you dum dums happy, we're going to post Election Track's posts in their entirety over at Mayor Sam 2.
The political drama continues in Torrance. As you may remember, forces supporting Councilman Frank Scotto's campaign for Mayor of the South Bay city set up a website slamming the current Mayor and Scotto's opponent, Dan Walker. Scotto claims no official ties to the site and Walker has slammed it as ludicrous. Still, its fun reading and has received much attention locally. The latest - the anti-Walker forces slam door hangers put out by the Walker campaign.
In anticipation of the LA City Council meeting held last Friday at Van Nuys City Hall, Los Angeles City Nerd put together a complete travelogue for over the hillers who might find a trip to the San Fernando Valley somewhat daunting. The Council will now meet once a month in Van Nuys.

10:05AM - Public Safety Committee Special Meeting
12:55PM - Budget & Finance Committee Special Meeting Revised
1:00PM - Budget & Finance Committee Meeting
2:00PM - Ad Hoc River Committee, Special Meeting

Is this the same Becerra who got 6% of the mayoral vote?
Xavier, what have you done for your district (outside of looking for new employment at MALDEF, City Attorney and so on)?

Baca will NOT get re-elected. He has wayyyyyy to much baggage this time round. His alignment with Scientology is his doom, the fights in jails, the escaping of prisoners, his jumping to conclusions that the female deputy who was killed was accidental when in fact she was murdered, etc. Baca needs to retire.

Where did you get that information? Explain? Who are the "locals" working on Padilla's staff? Anyone know? I am curious.

Mayor Sam is that Dagozilla guy the same guy as Laborthug, or more importantly both are Trujillo?

Where are the Latino politicans on the illegal immigration bill? Why hasn't Becerra, Roybal-Allard, Loretta Sanchez, Bimbo Gloria Romero, Solis, and the rest of them? Interesting because they all have offices right here.

anonymous 9:37am - didn't you hear that Gloria Romero was out marching with the students the first day? She was telling cops who were trying to corral them back to school that THIS was more important than school, that they would learn from the rally and go back to school to discuss.....

Dgarzilla is a joke and typical loser. Have you read his blog? The guy makes himself out to be some homeless freak but he has an apartment, has high speed internet, buys high end digital cameras, etc. But he still goes to eat at the Midnight Mission and takes their free groceries. What a loser.

number one I do not have an apartment.
NUmber 2
I have a limted income.
Number three I have no vices thus I can save my money for a month or two. and buy this stuff. Ilearned how to build my own computer at an occupational center. Upgrades cost me two months of saving my money- 150 dollars.
And yes I will go to the midnight mission to eat because I hurt a lot sometimes , and the corner markets are very expensive. So if it wasn't for the MIdnight mission I wouldn't eat good for days only junk food from the corner market.
I will be getting a chest freezer soon , so I can go to the wholesale meat warehouse so I can get decent food to eat and will probably never set foot in the Midnight mission to eat ever again. That's a lie . Breakfast is important. I a now losing weight vecause I am eating breakfast.
I live in an SRO and pay 1/3 of my income on rent.
No car , don't drink, don't smoke , dont'use drugs. So yes, I can have dsl for only 19.95 a month . Many of my homless neighbors pay quite a lot more for their wireless mobile services.
Anyway. Anyone is welcome to eat at the midnight mission. Even you.
If you want to cook for me when I am not feeling well .
you know how to reach me.

did I forget to mention my neighbors all over downtown bought me a portable air conditioner so that my oxygen concentrator wouldn't overehat in the summertime. And the Computer I ahve now was also a gift because another neighbor overheard me in a resteraunt saying that I needed a digital camera , so he gave me his last model ,when he bought his new one and because my old computer the usb ports owuldn't work rigth he sent me gift certificates so I could augment what I had to buy this so I could take pictures and post them on the internet and the old camera busted , I dropped it accidentally because I shake sometimes a lot so the new camera I got was also many people collaborating to help me buy it since they all love to see the pics I take and especially the social service providers , since I am able to tell thier stories from a skid row perspective so people can see the good they do and how dependent we all are here. The residents living in the sro's and the missions.
A lot of people living in these sro's who only get welfare would go without healthy food if it wasn't for the missions.

AMerica will always be the place to be.
Hey go to orange county and hang out with the professional suit wearing homeless.
They are homeles because they can't afford the Homes nor the rent.
Mayor Sam said:
Hey guys back off of Don. I don't agree with all his politics, but he's doing the community a service by documenting what's going on in his community. If we had that going on all over the city, we could expose a lot of BS that is happening. He has an excellent blog.

Why do people insist on punishing others and suggest a person in America cannot have dsl. Only rich people can have dsl? What an idiot you are!
Poor and rich can have dsl, cameras, & any item of choice.

WHAT BS HOUSEHOLD DID YOU COME FROM? SO WRONG ON MUSLIMS, MUST NOT BE ONE.
Anonymous said:
Muslims want to kill us because we are weak and wicked. Our people are fat and comfortable, so much so the poor have things that in some countries only the rich have. We won't fight back because we are fat and lazy. We are not as hungry as they are.

dgarzila is a very active community member who cares about his neighborhood and others. How dare you attack him!!! Its people like you who whine and complain and sit on their asses and do nothing. He's a mover and I have seen him speak eloquently at city council. So unless you can say you've done something shut the hell up.

The heat is on in Torrance. It appears that the DA and perhaps the FBI are investigating Councilman Frank Scotto but as we all know, the wheels of justice are slow. Scotto could win for Mayor only to be indicted for his misconduct!
