School board plans "Flying beneath the radar" on election day
On a day when some of you are being asked to choose between a UTLA candidate, the Mayor's candidate, a 24-year-old and a guy who's not going to win, look how the LAUSD is on the verge of being finessed into the tricks pile of the Villaragosa alliance:
I'd ask the candidates what they think about that potential power move to bottlecap the District before serving it chilled over to Antonio, but it's election day, and they're all pretty busy. Ana Teresa, in fact, is scribbling her vision, Chris is busy with some coursework, and MonGar is still trying to figure out who's really running her campaign.
If you can vote, please vote! Even if you write in Fred Brito...he's just cleared parole, you know...he lives in the District, he's tanned, fit, and ready to serve, and he's behelden to nobody...as of yesterday, not even a parole officer!
The Los Angeles Board of Supervisors, which appoints education board members, was set to discuss the plan today but has put it off for two weeks. Supervisors were to consider asking the state Board of Education to transfer the duties of the Los Angeles County Committee on School District Organization - an elected body - to its panel of appointees.

FRAUD AND LIES STILL ON ARELLANO WEBSITE
1. Press release "Los Angeles County Democratic Party
Endorses Arellano". No mention that the endorsement was RESCINDED
2. "Christopher Arellano Earns Endorsements from Teachers Union and Sheriff Lee Baca"
No mention that da Sheriif took it back and slammed Chris for being a LIAR
3. "He is a longtime resident of the district who struggled to earn a Masters of Social Work and a Public Planning degree from USC."
So now that weasel replaces the outright lie about having the degrees with a totally ambiguous claim.
Chris obviously will fudge the truth as MUCH AS HE THINKS HE CAN GET AWAY WITH to help his sorry ass get on the public payroll.

The LA County Democratic Party endorsement was NOT rescinded. Eric Bauman can't do it on his own. He needs a vote of the committee.

In an interview, Arellano said he was unaware of a dispute about his record at UCLA, but he acknowledged he did not complete a required four units of classes for the Urban Planning component of the dual master's he has claimed at USC. He also said he fully completed the other of the two master's degrees, in social work.
4 units = 1 class.
Is this really that big of a deal? USC and UCLA not responding to reporter's requests is the real story. This Arellano story is a small bit of self-promotion blown totally out of proportion by reporters looking for a good headline.
His campaign should have been ready for this! That, to me, is the real story behind this. Why weren't his own people ready with a pre-made response to these accusations?

So it was with considerable glee this week that a top aide to a Dean opponent informed me that the former Vermont governor has just hired killer gumshoe Ace Smith to gather dirt on political rivals.
The very same Ace Smith who ran "oppo research" for sharp-elbowed, soon-to-be-ex-California Gov. Gray Davis - "puke campaigns," in the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
"Ace certainly has that jugular instinct," says an operative who has worked closely with him on Davis' campaigns.
The 44-year-old Smith - who operates from a San Francisco office building that was used in the movie "Dirty Harry" as a crazed sniper's perch - didn't sound pleased when I phoned him yesterday.
"I'm trying to be really low-key," he told me. "My name appearing in a newspaper somewhere doesn't do me a whole lot of good. I'm not doing anything tremendously interesting anyway.
I'm just helping them get their whole research department organized. It's really quite bureaucratic and boring."
Political consultants such as Smith can receive fees of as much as $30,000 monthly, but neither Smith nor the Dean campaign would comment on his compensation.
As for rival campaigns that might accuse Dean of hypocrisy for recruiting this hired gun, "Personally, I think it's laughable," Smith said. "Gimme a break. I don't think anyone cares about who the consultants are anyway."
Dean campaign spokesman Jay Carson told me: "Whenever you get attacked by a bunch of Washington insiders, it's good to have someone on your side who knows them well."

Since a number of national interviews have taken me to a higher level, and with "Weekend America" on NPR and DATELINE NBC are ready to debut... I will be busy speaking around the country. Between March and December I have 212 PAID speaking engagments. 2007.... is the year I kick off my political campaign.
