The Garbage Chronicles, Part V

Candidate for Los Angeles County Supervisor David Hernandez has announced that he has been endorsed by former United States Treasurer, Rosario Marin. Marin had been the chair of the California Integrated Waste Management Board until February 1st, when she was appointed by Governor Schwarzenegger to head the State and Consumer Services Agency.

Hernandez, a member of the Sun Valley Neighborhood Council is also a member of the Ad Hoc Committee reviewing the EIR report for Bradley Landfill. Owned by Waste Management, Bradley is seeking an increase of 4 million cubic yards of trash to their limit and is also seeking to build a transfer station on the site.

Hernandez said he attended a formal presentation on the landfill given by Doug Cochran of Waste Management at the Arleta Chamber of Commerce. Waste Management is seeking the endorsement of the United Chambers for the expansion. Stay tuned.

Yeah great endorsement David. Now how about you talk to her about the CIWMB meeting that is taking place on Tuesday February 14th when Alternative Daily Cover will be on the agenda.

I believe she hasn't left yet and her vote with staff report would make up for her other shitty votes because of her lack of knowledge about landfills.

CIWMB is one of those holding places that pay money to termed out officials who aren't qualified to be there.

Please look at Cal Access, There are so many politicains that took money from Allied waste/BFI and Waste Management it is staggering. It is easier to count the number of politicians who have not.

Rosario Marin is an impressive lady. Its too bad that the Republicans didn't recognize that she had far more of a chance to beat Boxer than Bill Jones. The Boyds probably got paid by Boxer too.

This whole trash issue wouldn't be a problem if people would get back into littering on a grand scale as to reduce trash to the landfills by 70%. What's wrong with waiting for the Santa Anas to come to blow it all to Pacoima? Ah , the good ole days, life was simpler back then.
