Gonna Fib Now?
Candidate for the Democratic nomination for State Attorney General Rocky Delgadillo is showing that he may have have a propensity to fib, or just can't do arithmetic.On Wednesday, we reported that Delgadillo's primary opponent - former Governor and current Mayor of Oakland Jerry Brown - is leading Delgadillo by 30 points in a recent poll. Delgadillo's campaign questions the figures, but will also pay them no mind. According to the Metropolitan News Enterprise, Delgadillo spokesman Roger Salazar said “Rocky has been the underdog before. Just before his election as city attorney he was down by 31 points.”
The only problem with that is that just days before the general election in 2001, an LA Times story reported that Delgadillo was trailing his opponent, then City Councilman Mike Feuer, by only nine points. Given that slim of a lead, its hard to make the case that Rocky was the comeback kid.

Rocktard has also been saying that he is the only Democratic candidate in the race with experience as a practicing lawyer -- a very bold lie. In fact, I seem to recall that Rockard was not technically qualified to hold the City Attorney office because the LA City Charter stipulates that one must be a practicing lawyer for five years preceding election to that post.

This is the same math Rocky uses to calculate how much money he saves the city each time he settles a lawsuit. When the plaintiff demands $30,000,000 ...Rocky pays $10,000,000 and claims to have saved the city $20,000,000.
Rocky plans to save the City a whole lot more in the coming year by encouraging higher plaintiff demands!

Look. Rocky clearly has a problem with the truth. This is a very bad trait for a person aspiring to be our chief law enforcement officer. But he also has another problem: according to a recent independent state audit, he is running the biggest slush fund in California. Rocky ladles out millions of dollars with no competitive bids to those who contribute to his campaign. Case closed.
Do you think Brown could have made those lawsuits disappear with a group hug? He's more than 70 years old and shouldn't even have a driver's license.
