Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Tuesday
Monday evening inmates at LA County's Pitchess Detention Center rioted, following moves by Sheriff Lee Baca to quell such incidents by racially segregating county jails. No further details available at press time.
Caltrans has installed several more signs in Los Angeles that display the travel times from one point to another on local freeways. Mayor Sam caught one of these signs on the northbound 101 in Downtown LA and its estimated time to reach the 405 was pretty accurate. Have a question for Mayor Villaraigosa? Give him a call on KFWB AM 980's "Ask the Mayor" segment on Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m.
The Here in Van Nuys blog has an interesting piece (with photos) about abandoned, cold war era buildings at Van Nuys Airport.
45th Assembly District Candidate Kevin DeLeon reports that he has been endorsed by the Peace Officers Research Association of California and the California Association of Highway Patrolmen and has out raised all his opponents. (Click here for our piece on DeLeon's primary opponent, Christine Chavez and her fundraising gimmick.)

Poor Lee. He can't do his job because the Supes and the cheap a..ed citizens won't give him enough "resources".
How many times have we heard that behind previous disasters? 1000?

Seen at the Chinese New Years parade last weekend:
The mayor walking the entire span of the parade, dressed in a red and gold outfit that was way too long and way too tight. Overheard from an elderly chinese lady sitting behind me...'this mayor never miss chance to smile for camera huh'
Jackie Goldberg riding in a convertible with Elena Pop coming along for the ride.
Tom LaBonge strolling through parts of the parade and then getting back in the car when he got winded.
Kevin de Leon riding on a fire truck, for no apparent reason and without signage acknowledging who he is
Jose Huizar riding and smiling...while everyone wondered who that was

ok ,
I will say something JOse Huizar was going to come on the Neighborhood watch walk in Skid Row on February 1 , but one of his aides came .
We are making progress.

Hey does anyone know where Jose Huizar is? If you see him tell him his district is looking for him or at least one of his sleazy aides. Not one person has seen him in the community at any meetings since being elected. Could it be Antonio told him to just sit tight at city hall? What's up???

huizar is too busy calling people and pleading with them to endorse Monica or at least give her some money. too bad it's not working.

He had two reps in Mt. Washington last week until 9 or 10 p.m. at a community meeting. Maybe you live in a neighborhood that doesn't get organized and advocate for itself the way the rich people in Mt. Washington do.
