What's Up In CD2?

Wendy Greuel is the Council Member for CD2. She's been on the Council just a few years, but she's a long time fixture in LA politics, going back to her days as Student Body President at Kennedy High School. But she also has a solid business pedigree, having been raised in her family construction business and serving as an executive with Dreamworks.

Wendy, the Council President Pro Tem, is a moderate Democrat with a strong Valley independent streak, but can get it on with the best of the liberals when necessary. She's a young mom, in fact, she gave birth to her son after she was elected. For the most part, she's pursued pothole politics and business tax reform to great success. On the down side, she's jumped in (well she had to you would guess) with the ever NIMBY Studio City Residents Association who wish to trample all over the private property rights of the owners of the Studio City Golf and Tennis Club. She also had a minor run-in with a bridge loving gadfly that produced some amusment for a while.

No doubt, Wendy has a bright future in politics. But for now, she's content to change business as usual.

What are the happenings in her district from your view? Feel free to post away, dum dums.

Wendy should think before she speaks. When Antonio 1st appointed this board of police commissioners they were at council to get confirmed she kissed AV's ass like I've never heard. Saying idiotic things like "this is the best police commission ever." How in the hell would she know that if they hadn't even begun? Turns out the rank and file hate them and many think they are without a dobut the dumbest and most ignornant board to date.

Whitebird/Canyon Hills was really quite a reversal. Steve Crouch put it this way in a newsletter:

"Does it bother you, as it does me, when you check out of the supermarket line and the clerk says, “Congratulations, you just saved $22.18!”, but you really just spent $155.36?"

Also:

"The City and Wendy Greuel used Whitebird’s “threat” to build across their property as justification for granting the GPA."

But if Wendy capitulated, Sunland Tujunga's Neighborhood Council looks completely powerless, not even as efficient, in fact, as Crouch in mobilizing the community against Whitebird. Whitebird is a done deal, and there will be political fallout, but nobody has emerged on the scene to blow the fallout in any particular direction.

Not as many posts as CD14. I guess folks in CD2 are happier.

Mayor Greuel has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?

What ever happened to that problem on Bridge in Wendy's area? No one liked the fact that she had a senior lead officer removed as the scapegoat.

Controller Greuel is more like it.

Wendy is as slick as AV. She comes off like a little sweetie pie. But be very careful. She is extremely slick behind that girl-next-door look.

I do think she's much smarter than AV though.

I agree. Controller Wendy and Mayor Chick. We will see that one day.

With any luck at all, we'll see Janice Hahn in much higher position also. She is smart, funny, logical and well liked. Is she really Jim's sister? Maybe she was adopted?

CD 14 just has a bunch of backbiters and assholes who think they can do better.

Wendy is great for the council and has been great for her constituents. CD 2 is doing fine.

CD 14 at least don't take shit lying down. If you only knew the shit we put up with you would understand. I'm sure you would raise hell if your council member ignored constituents services and had a lame staff who were getting paid to sit and do nothing.

If the folks in CD14 were so smart, why and have to put up with so much crap, why not move? Duhhhh.

A compromise was worked out with the bridge. No one lost his or her job over it. Much ado about nothing. . .

By comparison to her peers, she is clearly the best we've got. Mayor Gruel has heart, smarts and determination.

Very conservative, but very liberal acting. That is the "slick" I was talking about.

The comment that the "rights" of the golf/tennis owners are being "trampled" is surprising to find on a professional political website. The golf/tennis property is zoned A-1 and designated as open space in the General Plan. The owner has a right to apply for the needed General Plan Amendment and rezoning, along with a Conditional Use Permit, possibly Variance, etc., but these are special, discretionary approvals. When I bought my property, I made sure that the golf/tennis property was not zoned so as to allow for denser by-right development. Zoning allows for residents to have such assurances. So please do not resort to cheap histrionics such as "trampling" over "rights", since no such thing has even been suggested here.

You tell them!

Take your stupid NIMBY word and shove it up your ass. Whenever a developer wants to trample on the rights of homeowners, they throw out the nimby word. Stupid politicians fall for it. Then we have them calling their constituents nimbys in the newspapers.

Don't confuse this with a professional political blog. It'a an amateur political blog. Big difference.

You should come here for fun; not facts.
