Mayor Sam's Morning Update

Good morning and welcome back to work! Happy New Year!

To start your morning off, if you want to know what Mayor V is up to, he is going to helm a press opportunity at Grauman's Mann Chinese Theatre to make the case that 2005 was a record-breaking year for the city tourism. The mayor is expected to meet with local merchants following his remarks.

We didn't catch this during the holiday craziness and my bout with the flu, but the folks at the Sherman Oaks Blog have the latest DOT plans for DASH riders to wait in comfort for the next bus.

Following a shut-down of the Metro Gold Line Monday due to a piece of construction derbis blowing onto the tracks, service has been restored on one line. However, because damage was so close to the Del Mar station, trains will not be stopping there. Passengers are advised to use the Memorial Station.

The LA Fire Department Blog is reporting that the LA Fire and Police Departments are teaming up to remove homeless encampments from flood control channels. This is to prevent the necessity of swift water rescues during the coming storms. Already several homeless individuals have been removed from areas around Hansen Dam, Sepulveda Dam and the Tujunga Wash.

Boi From Troy posts what is a weak attempt at humor by fans of the Texas Longhorns. Do people in this town even give a rats ass about football anymore? With the Rose Bowl not on New Year's Day, who cares?

DonnaLee posting on the Magnolia Pages at Martini Republic recounts a visit to North Hollywood's Valhalla Memorial Park. DonnaLee is not from the Valley so its interesting to hear her views. What DonnaLee did not note that the cemetary is actually one of the oldest currently operating in the Valley and that techically, the footprint of Valhalla opens up in the City of LA limits but spills over into the City of Burbank as well.

And finally one of our readers pointed out that newly minted Councilman Jose Huizar has finally posted his staff roster on his website. I guess that makes it easier for the CD14 cut and paste crew, ehh?

CD 14 is fu---d. People had high hopes for Jose until he got his staff. Let's see Gustavo is the LA Metro union crook who everyone hates and is threatening to people and real mean. Then you have the crook Alvin Parra in Boyle Heights. Wonder if that was payback for them being vocal on how much they hate Antonio. LA reporters do some homework and you will find a load of stuff on both Gustavo and Alvin the crook.

The CD14 "cut-and-paste" crew never existed... that was the "Hahn" crew. But CD14, like most past bloggers, has LEFT THE BUILDING.

It was posted on here before that Gustavo Valdivia, Huizar';s deputy chief of staff, is not even in this country legally. His wife works for Tony Cardenas. Has there been any proof of this?

9:41 - you're right about Valdivia and his days with L.A. Metro. Wasn't Valdivia with Miguel Contreras when he died? Does his wife know?

Valdivia is an illegal scumbag and needs to be deported!!!!

Some very big people are going to blow the roof off of the Mexican sleaze bags down at CD14! If he's smart, he will go back over the border before he ends up as a 'guest worker' at the twin towers.

Wait til you see what's coming down the pike!!It ain't gonna be pretty!
