People Care What you Think Because
In a perfect example of what stupidity can do to someone with sheer ignorance of the web, Patterico's Pontifications caught someone in the Tribune Company in Chicago (owners of the LA Times) red-handed bashing Patterico's review of the LA Times in 2005.
The money graph:
Stupid, stupid, stupid....
The money graph:
Strange thing is, Biff: they actually might. They might be curious to know why you are so dismissive of a reader’s criticisms. After all, your IP address comes back to the Tribune Company in Chicago — the folks who publish the L.A. Times.Note to Patterico: Add us to the list of inquiring minds.
Stupid, stupid, stupid....

By the time you read this the LA Daily News would have ran this story...
"12 trapped miners found alive
Allen G. Breed, Associated Press
TALLMANSVILLE, W.Va. - Twelve of the 13 miners trapped in an explosion in a coal mine were found alive late Tuesday after more than 41 hours underground, turning a community's worst fears to unbridled joy. Family members streamed from the church where they had kept vigil, shouting "Praise the Lord!" ---
NOT SO FAST
Turns out that, sadly, the miners have died.
Now watching Rita Cosby on MSNBC she is already blaming the Mining Company, the State, in fact everyone but the neighbors spayed hampster, except the entity who should be blamed... the media.
Once again in their rush to get a story, they got the story WRONG.
Was there an official release saying the miners were alive? NO.
Was there a public statement saying anyone had survived by anyone reputable? NO.
Despite the fact that official news briefings were being held the media based this on... an overheard cell phone call.
Now nearly 2 hours since the real story broke the Daily News still has the wrong story on their website.
As someone who is in the public eye myself, I often see misquotes, and flat out falsehoods being thrown out on even our local papers.
One of my favorites was a story about the new Paparazzi Law, now dubbed the "Lindsay Lohan Law".
The report cited that the law was passed "as a reult of an accident suffered by Lindsay Lohan this year where she hit a van of paparazzi." Once again this was MSNBC but the story was run on the AP wire.
Forget that the accident they refer to was one between Lindsay and an innocent motorist, or that he was making an illegal u-turn. Or that Lindsay had stated she was being chased... forget all that.
The bill was introduced by Cindy Montenez LONG BEFORE the accident ever happened.
Hey news people, Sometimes being right is better than being first.
