Yes... Lisa Sarno of CD14 infamy, and the one behind every major screwup while AV was councilmember there, is now the #2 at DONE.

Greg Nelson saw the Stuckey handwriting on the wall and saved his ass temporarily by doing his new boss a favor and hired the most acerbic, community-HANDICAPPING staffer in CD14 to "neighborhood EMPOWERMENT" (that's goes miles beyond "ironic"...)

And, AV found somewhere to park a "loyal" if grossly incompetent lieutenant who could never, NEVER, ever in a million years get elected to anything on her own steam.

Make that a million decades!

But, Greg, sorry to say, you were tricked. NCs are about to come under heavy scrutiny, you'll take the hit for their shortcomings, and then AV will ditch your ass faster than you can say "no-kill" (you WERE a Hahn appointee, Nelson... pack your bags). You and Jimmy did it to the person you displaced there, who was doing a far better job in the early months of post-charter approval DONE than you've bumbled through since.

THAT's the promise AV just made to Lisa. Cool your heels for a few months, Cabbage Patch, while I work up the case to ditch Nelson -- then you'll have your own "ship" to sink.

(Just try not to run off the entire department staff the first month, Uber-bitch!)

Great story in LA Weekly
Power Grabs Antonio Villaraigosa Should Make Once He’s Done with the Schools
by ROBERT GREENE

The Los Angeles County Department of Health
The Los Angeles County Jails
The Department of Water and Power----Oh, you thought the mayor already controlled the DWP? You haven’t been paying attention.
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors
The Los Angeles County Federation of Labor
The Los Angeles Dodgers
His Own Promise-Peddling
Ameriquest----No law against flying to funerals on his own plane!
The Los Angeles Angels
New Orleans
The Los Angeles Police Department----- I’m tired of all these broken promises to beef up the size of the LAPD. Police Chief William Bratton is doing a decent enough job, but we need a civilian leader in control who will finally commit the resources to... What? The mayor already is? Oh. Okay. Let’s move on.
Sacramento----Oh, you already were planning to take... What? Oh, right, shhh, okay — mum’s the word!

Pay no attention to the anonymous blogger Greg. AV would be a FOOL to get rid of you. He's not stupid enough to fire you because Hahn hired you. He's kept several Hahn-hires.

It's your department Greg. You know how to make it work.

All you need to do is teach Lisa what she needs to know. She's a fast learner and none of those name calling adjectives are true. She is not acerbic. She's not grossly incompetent and she's not a community handicapper.

Greg, the person who had your job before you HAD to go. I like Ms. Stewart a lot, but she could NOT handle the job the way you have done. This is your baby. It belongs to you. I'm sure AV will recognize that soon enough. It's up to you to show Lisa the strengths that the NC's possess.

We love you Greg!

Well, Nelson, you got one vote (give that staffer a raise).

But the truth is, there isn't an activist in CD14, pro- or anti-AV that stepped up and said "PLEASE KEEP LISA SARNO HERE."

The response was universal.

MEANWHILE, Huizar is looking through Pacheco's old rolodex trying to find competent help to run his new assignment with.

That's ONE (1) point for him, so far. AV won't let him bring any of them back, but it was a good, logical thought, anyway.

Look BACK and what worked, and get RID of what DIDN'T (e.g., Sarno).

Fatal Shooting in Boyle Heights
City News Service
A 22-year-old man is behind bars in connection with a fatal shooting.

This is really sad. The student who was killed was merely waiting for a bus to go to Cantwell High. Kids aren't safe just taking bus to school. Hope city council is proactive in helping LAPD go after gang members.
