Eric's favorite: it's not CHE

KCRW's Frances Anderton of the once-a-month show Design and Architecture kicked off a new feature today, inviting people in the City to talk about their favorite building in town. First out of the chute is none other than Council President Eric Garcetti.

And what's Garcetti's favorite building in town? You'll never guess.
"It's a difficult choice....As a fourth generation Angeleno...but I've got to say City Hall, a maginficent and eclectic design of a building...a great temple of democracy and teaching place..."

"When we moved back from City Hall East, we felt history there...we see the flags that have all been a part of the history of Los Angeles..."

I trust all this informed arch crit answer doesn't displease Garcetti pere, who invested much time documenting the construction of another likely building in this derby, the Disney Hall, through photograps featured in his book, Iron: Erecting the Walt Disney Concert Hall.

If you're one of LA's powerful and famous and would like to do your own Prince Charles imitation and try to snatch a slot on the show, consider contacting Frances at mail@kcrw.org.

City Hall WAS my favorit building in L.A. When Mayor Hahn and Councilman Pacheco roamed the halls. Since 2003 it has a definate big brown rat infestation. When AV leaves it will have to be disinfected from all the rat droppings!!

I've already said on another thread that it is, without a doubt, my all-time favorite building.

Now I just want to know who is getting it in the stairwell...

Too bad for Rocky! He's stuck in CHE, in Riordan's old office (hmmm).

Rocky deserves less than CHE. How about the basement where the rats hang out?

That's more his speed.
