6:30 a.m.: Mayor Villaraigosa will appear on Univision to promote financial aid workshops that will be held throughout Los Angeles on Jan. 21 as part of the Cash for College Day financial aid campaign.

8:30 a.m.: City Council members Wendy Greuel and Bill Rosendahl will hold a news conference ``to urge Mercury Insurance to forgo plans to bankroll a statewide ballot measure that would wipe out Proposition 103's mandate to eliminate ZIP code profiling by insurance companies.'' 9:30 a.m.: The Los Angeles Police Commission will meet. Chief William Bratton will attend the meeting to report on significant incidents, crime statistics and recruitment, reinstatement and reassingment of officers . Room 146, Parker Center, 150 N. Los Angeles St.

10:00 a.m.: Boeing's 787 Dreamliner, a mid-size, long-range wide body aircraft scheduled to begin service next year, will be the topic when the LAX Flight Path Museum launches its 2006 speaker series. Jeffrey Hawk, director of Boeing's 787 government certification and environmental program, will be the featured speaker. Museum visitors can view a 1/100th scale model of the 787 in the main gallery.
