On this day in 1989 in a meeting off the coast of Malta, US President George H. W. Bush and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev released statements indicating that the cold war between their two nations may be coming to an end (some commentators from both nations exaggerated the wording and independently declared the Cold War over).

In one week LA Weekly and LA Times makes fun of our city council members. Walking into chambers is like going to a circus. Chaos, no order, no one sitting in their seats on time, constant talking. Its like the teacher is away and they're acting like children at preschool. Friday Ed Reyes had to go off on council for not paying attention. What will it take for them to take their positions seriously? How many more times will the media have to embarrass and make fun of them? Grow up council and start behaving like mature adults.
If Gorbachov and Reagan could do it - why not Villaraigosa and Pacheco?
I went to Huizar's "community" event. All I can say is the Villraigosa put on quite a show.
After AV left, so did everyone else. Jose, it's gotta be hard being known as the guy Antonio elected.

For five straight years, about 40% of L.A.'s homicide victims have been black. If the celebrities and community activists supporting Williams began lifting up real community heroes — such as teachers, police officers, members of the clergy, hardworking parents or veterans of the Iraq war — maybe we could begin to change the dynamics of neighborhoods suffering from the predatory effects of Tookie wannabes.
This past week, Huizar took office. There have been three council meetings since then.
He left the first one early.
He did not attend the second one for "personal business."
He left the third one early, saying he was sick. He had a miracle recovery in time for community ceremony that same night.
Someone tell "Mini Me" Huizar to get rid of his picture with his corn on the cob yellow teeth. Could be stains from giving Villababoso Bj's. Is it any coinincidence that he has his picture up but doesn't list his staff on CD14 website. Do you think the same buenos para nada, as the 18th Street Cholo's posse. Nahhhhh!!!!
P.S. Cardenas should do some communtiy service with those DSL's.

Antonio needs to learn how to not be way late to events that he agrees to participate in. Making thousands of people wait for him to start the holiday festivities is very pathetic. Maybe he would have been on time if it were in his own neighborhood...
No previous poster. He's even late in his own community. Its become a very bad habit. He's trying to be everywhere and just pissing people off having to wait for him. I say move forward and the hell with him if he's late.
What puzzles me is the failure to write about the most explosive allegations in the Rolling Stone story about the LAPD and LA Times conduct and alleged coverup of the Biggie Smalls murder:

Yes and I hope everyone knows who was running the LAPD during that time because it was Bitter Bernie. He has ties to all those Rampart idiots who tarnished the badge for some good cops. His daughter knew Raphael Perez who brought down LAPD. The investigation will show Bitter Bernie covered it all up.
