Witch Hunt at LMU

We've posted numerous times about the ongoing saga between the students and residents surrounding LMU. The latest installment shows somewhat of a witch hunt being out in place.

Here's the situation:

Re: LMU needs addresses
Hello Community Members;

The LMU Community Relations Director Dolores Canizales has asked us as a community to give her any ADDRESSES where LMU students live. Whether there have been raging parties, underage drinking or disturbing the peace or your LMU Student neighbors have been totally mature and respectful. She would like this information for LMU's records. LMU is trying to make an effort by being proactive instead of ignoring the problem houses. They wish to make contact and try to get us to resolve our issues.

We would love to hear that there are a ton of responsible teenage students. I know Gonzaga has 3 houses that have not had problems yet just late last night students were setting off fireworks in the middle of the street. Neighbors gave the students an ear full from what I was told. These students were not even residents on Gonzaga but just felt this was a good place to see some pretty colors and bright lights.

Anyway these are some of the area's where known LMU students are renting.

4 houses on the North end of Regis

2 on the South end of Regis.

2 on Holy Cross
1 on Kenyon

3 on Gonzaga

1 on 80th and Georgetown

1 on Dunfield
1 on McConell
1 on Dumbarton

several apts and houses in Playa Del Rey

Dolores Canizales needs the ADDRESS and complaints'- you can email her at dcanizal@lmu.edu

Let her know any information you can.

I agree with the theory that the community and University should work together, but if you turned the tables on this situation the residents would be completely up in arms, as the students are now. There has got to be a more diplomatic way of accomplishing their goals.

The University has no legal grounds by which to control student "adult-behavior" outside of their property boundaries.

What are they going to do? Excommunicate them?

Frankly, I looked at the neighbors' website referenced in the article in the Daily Breeze and all I saw was a party in the backyard of a house and a few individuals walking down the street. Sounds to me like a couple of people with no life raising a ruckus over not much of anything.
