Miers Supported Ban on Most Abortions

In preparation for hearings to discuss the confirmation of Harriet Miers' appointment to the Supreme Court, information has surfaced that she has previously expressed support for banning most abortions.

In 1989, Miers filled out a survey sent to her by a pro-life group in Texas. On the form, she checked yes to questions that indicated her support for banning abortion with the exception of protecting the life of the mother.

This creates a very sticky situation for Miers - who already has some conservative groups calling for her nomination to be withdrawn. To most liberals, Miers appeared as potentially another Sandra Day O'Connor moderate Republican. Now this casts her as untouchable and you'll see even more liberal groups coming out against her nomination. Though some conservatives may be pleased by her previous statements, there are others who will still see her pro-life credentials as not strong enough.

It will take some artful dealing for President Bush to keep this nomination alive. It will be interesting to watch.

Tell me this, she is the only one in the USA who has an opinion. You mean to tell me that no sitting judge has a personal opinion about a subject, yet still manages to sit as a judge and rule.

Liberals make a big deal out of NOTHING!

Well, she passed the bar. I don't know how to break this to you but AV did not pass the bar after 4 attempts.

He is still mayor and negotiating multimillion dollar deals which benefit his friends. You see, AV just made the City of Los Angeles lose over 200 million dollars in one day on that hotel deal.

There are millions of people who negotiate deals everyday without law degrees. I just negotiated with a contractor whose remodeling my kitchen. Law degrees aren't a requirement for negotiating deals. (By the way, can you exaggerate any more? Try using "gazillions")

But this nominee will be interepreting our Constitution, the fundamental document protecting ALL of our basic rights.

No comparison!

Antonio V. negotiated a deal without a degree, no problem, but did he ask the voters if they wanted this deal for the city....

I won't exaggerate, but the answer is still a big NO!

He took it upon his midget self to abuse city funds for the next 25 years no matter who is in office for his friends.

Not exaggerating, the truth, it sounds so bad, this is why i wish it was exaggerated.

Please do not compare Miers to Villaraigosa.

It is as if you are comparing a law abiding citizen to a criminal.

And you know who the criminal is
Mr. 5'3.
