This is the city: Los Angeles, California. I work here. I'm an ex-mayor. Los Angeles is a magnet for people from all over the world. Some of them run for public office. Inevitably some of them stray from the golden rule and rule for those that have the gold. That's when I go to work. My name is Yorty. I'm a dead pol.

Leave Trujillo alone, he did all of us a favor and brought this type of site some excitement. You guys are just jealous hiding behind anons like I am too, why not give this guy some credit and leave him alone...
I have not met a politician who is 100% honest as of yet, so do not judge the guy that brought us the inside of gov. that we did not know.

There it is, the lie that ends all attempts at any sort of reform in its tracks!
"THEY ALL LIE" (so why bother holding them accountable).
If it's unanimous then, let's burn it all down and start over!

Enjoy this last major milestone. . . without the anonimity at the top, it's all over but the chuting!

Trujillo hid behind a screen name "Chief Parker" so he was hiding too. He was mean, defamatory, slandered people and posted political spins. His Chief Parker B.S. is coming back to haunt him. Why has he stopped posting????

Yeah, well, outside of Kevin, this is the only game in town (L.A.), so you have my support for keeping it going.
Maybe the "outing" has added a little civility to the posts as there is more a fear of overdoing it. Outside of "Watcho", who irritates us all constantly, the posts are much more on point and less about Pacheco and Huizar. The slams on AV are also toned down.
This blog is fun to read, so I'm hoping you don't kill it and send me back to being dead again. If there is one thing a lobbyist hates, it is being dead.
Hang in there.

How many special fee waivers could the City Council possibly have on tomorrow's agenda? A great deal of the waivers come from CD 8. Now I am not making any criticism cause these are good community events. Take a look for yourself at the nearly 60 page agenda (www.lacity.org)
Tomorrow the City Council also votes to approve the Mayor's Board of Airport Commissioner appointees including Ms. Velasco.

Memorial Day Weekend, four-times as many comments (approx. 120 by this point), with no immediate future city election scheduled at that point.
Get the point?!

Ok LA reporters let's see who has the guts to go after this. A lot of the special event waivers are in CD 8 Bitter Bernie's area. In Nov 2003 the CLA did a huge report on recommendations to streamline those waivers and sent to Budget & Finance almost 2 yrs ago. Daily News did a story over a year ago stating that the city pays over $9 million in these waivers. Weiss just a couple of weeks ago stated they are being abused. Why hasn't that CLA report made it to the council floor? WHY IS BITTER BERNIE NOT PUSHING THE CLA REPORT FORWARD? This is money we can spend on getting more cops. PLEASE ONE LA REPORTER DO A STORY ON THIS.

Thank you to 5:04 pm for elaborating more on the above comment. As much as we all enjoy some of these community events and in fact belong to these organizations it seems to be coming to the point of City Council members giving out special favors to its favorite groups. I am not making accusations whatsoever but I am sure there are many others who do believe that.
We should do everything we can to support community groups that raise money for important causes or bring our neighbors together in a safe and fun environment, but a CLA study would ensure that there is no abuse of the current system. I mean the entire agenda for tomorrow's City Council meeeting consists of Lighting District and Special Event items.
