This is the city: Los Angeles, California. I work here. I'm an ex-mayor. Los Angeles is a magnet for people from all over the world. Some of them run for public office. Inevitably some of them stray from the golden rule and rule for those that have the gold. That's when I go to work. My name is Yorty. I'm a dead pol.

Interesting this study didn't come out until AFTER the DWP got their raise. This reports makes city council and Antonio all look dumb.
DWP Issues Blackout Study; Chief Apologizes
The agency says a series of preventable errors occurred and vows to make improvements. City Council members still have questions.

Well well seems Andre Martinez is trying to kiss Antonio's brown butt with the dumb editorial about AV moving into Getty house. Get a clue Andre! Seems you've been out of the loop. Those are the type of editorials that made the LA Times lose over 60,000 and just started gaining them back with their coverage on Katrina. Go talk with Angelenos and ask them what they think of our dear Mayor?????

Following 9:28 - That was truly a stupid, rambling, sloppy LAT editorial. If this is their idea of being LA-centric, they have a pathetically long way to go. (And I happen to be a strong AV supporter.)
Truth is, the Times' editorial pages are at their best uneven and generally quite mediocre. The best you can say about them is that they save us time by so rarely giving us anything we need or want to read.
Has anyone noticed how hot they are to get Mexican immigrants to vote in Mexico's elections, and to have Mexican parties and candidates campaign here? They've run multiple editorials and op-eds on this over the past few months. This is their idea of being local, progressive, and in the know. (!) Están locos.

RE: NIXON/CHECKERS --
We won't have Nick Pachueco to kick around much longer.

I'm waiting - but not holding my breath - for Antonio's 80 FAKE NEIGHBORHOOD WATCHES speech. Something about, "my staff TOLD me there were 80, and I trusted them. . . I didn't actually COUNT them, or attend any of the meetings - I was out of town a lot."
Fortunately, the Controller Chick didn't have any trouble forwarding AV's HUGE council paychecks to hotels in D.C. and Sacramento for two years.

Wait a minute. I knew there was a reason for Antonio wanting to quickly move into Getty. He's having his daughter's wedding there tomorrow. Using the city for his elaborate affair. All for show all the time. I'm telling you people and reporters are getting sick and tired of his b.s. camera time. He's way over exposing himself. I could understand if he was doing something worthy of the press but he hasn't done a damn thing. He's become an embarrassement and like city hall staffers are whispering "Clown of LA"

Nothing wrong with AV moving into the MAYOR'S RESIDENCE. Nor with his daughter getting married there.
The problem is with the great minds of the LA Times editorial board thinking this is a matter for their lead official editorial. This sort of crap belongs in the long-departed "View" section -- idle social patter.
