Parking It At LAUSD

ParkingOnce again the Los Angeles Unified School District wants to build a swanky new $50 million parking garage for its top administrators.

This is at a time when the District is performing so well (not) and has so much money (not) that they can well afford to do such a thing.

Of course, the District folks say they need this parking, it costs too much to lease parking, shuttle folks, blah blah blah.

I would suggest they do something different and evaluate not the need for the parking, but the need for the administrators. We know that LAUSD has way too many administrators and is not spending enough in the classroom.

As well, LAUSD could look at spreading some of these departments out to the communities, co-locate them on school sites where there is parking and they're close to the parents & students. A number of these positions could even telecommute.

School Board President Jose Huizar wants to step up and run for Los Angeles City Council. If he wants to play with the big boys, perhaps he should show some leadership and vision and try something outside the box, as opposed to just throwing more money at the issue.

The LAUSD stumbles from one disaster to another and Huizar will be held accountable. Get prepared Jose.

LAUSD needs to streamline the Administrative staff and put more substance in the classroom. How about a conflict of interest disclosure for all adminstrators and their immediate families to isolate them from procurement deals with district vendors? Like book purchases, school land, contractors, educational programs and an assortment of other items. If they paid their teachers on time for workshops, continuing education courses, overtime and the like, they would have a much happier work force. When the teachers have to wait 6 months or a year to see their pay from continuning education courses they take on their own (non-classroom or work day time) time, that is a scandal and inexcusable.

Why isn't LAUSD using public transit? That's why the offices were moved to their present location.
Whenever whoever runs for public office the solution to too much traffic is for we the voters to take the bus. Public agency employees and adminstrators should MTA>

Yes indeed sounds like Jose has too much to clean up at LAUSD before he quits early and moves up to the City Council.

You would think that an intelligent person would have realized they needed parking space before moving into the building. They should do what the regular people have to do and take the bus or car-pool. Can you imagine what can be done with that much money instead of wasting it on parking?

Jose Huizar is not a leader and every day the media reports something this stupid makes him look bad. Our tax dollars are being wasted with these decisions. Jose needs to stay put and clean up his mess at LAUSD before coming to CD14 to make an even bigger mess.

Richard Muerlo a good friend and largest contributor to Antonio campaign and friend of Jose bought school land from LAUSD by out bidding just over a $1 million. Now the kids in Northeast area won't have a new school.

Now we find out that LAUSD has $49 million to get a parking garage. What is wrong with this picture?

Read between the lines. Eli Broad funds Huizar's school board race. Huizar moves LAUSD Administration to an Eli Broad building - a building with a long history of construcation snafus. LAUSD upgrades the building, including $300,000 bathrooms, adding value to an undervalued downtown skyscraper on the public dollar. Muruelo buys Taylor Yard, he will resell it to LAUSD for a tighty 5-10 million dollar profit. Now LAUSD needs parking. Let's see, who is in the parking business downtown - none other than Vignali.

See what happens when you make deals with the devil Huizar. I'm sure Parke is prodding you with his pitch fork. Can you say "fall guy."

Exactly! Well said.

I have no idea who's drinking what at LAUSD.

Sometimes I think AV is setting Jose up to fall, payback.

I don't always agree with Mayor Sam, but you are dead right this time.

I went to the inauguration of the Riordan backed school board members when Genethia Hayes, Mike Lansing, Caprice Young, et al were first elected. It seems like 100 years ago.

Genethia made a speech and said, "From now on it's about the kids, not about the adults." I remember thinking that she had a long hard road ahead of her. I guess we're not quite there yet, are we?

Education! Education! Education!

And a LACK there of is the problem here!
No Vision! No Leadership! No Master Education Plan! No Compassion for the Children! Just a lot of H20 carrying, backroom deals, and land grabbing at the expense of the people.

The Voters are sick of IT!

Our children are not getting the top dollar education that every child deserves in LAUSD because the corruption runs deep in Los Angeles.

The crooks are in bed with the developers, contractors, contributors, polluters, ...
And the 501C3 nonprofits (and you know who you are) are in bed too. Lights Out at the end of the day!

It's unfair to the hard working constituents who are aware of the games you are playing Mr. Huizar. And it's ashame that all your "private" education and life's experience didn't humble you to advocate for the children and the right to self-determination and an equal education!

The eastside has not had a high school built in over 80 years! And the bathrooms at Roosevelt High School reak of shit! I have been a teacher for many years and you have done nothing!

You want to be Councilman of District 14?

No WAY in HELL!

Wow...who are you? I am serious about my question. You have said everything many of us feel here at CD 14. If you were running for CD14, I would vote for you. Too bad we are stuck with Mr. MuViHuizar. (Muruelo-Vignali-Huizar)

I am just your average taxpayer who is sick and tired of all the political insurgent corruption that has been going on for years!

If I was running for CD 14 you would vote for me? I would never run for CD 14. I have morals, integrity to ever consider your offer. And I have a problem with dropping the soap and grabbing my ankles.

I do not blame you...this is why we have a lack of leadership jumping up to lead CD14. No one wants to drop the soap and grab ankles.

Los Angeles has been governed like Mexico---Major Pay for Play Politics. In this case, Politicos.

What an embarrassment that our first Latino Mayor had to be a prevoius drop out, gangster, womanizer, and current infidel of society...we found no one better.

I will say Villaraigosa needs to stay away from Richard Alatorre. He has a bad rap in politics, especially in "LATINO" politics. This needs to be reinforced when it comes to Antonio.

Artie "Boy" Snyder too.

The problem is that the only thing all you cry babies ever do is gripe and moan about how bad everything is.

To the supposed teacher, yes I know teachers are under paid and over worked, but you know what - so are a lot of other public servants. If you're union really cared a damn about their students - you would be able to negotiate for better working conditions instead of trying to get out of yard duty!

Bitch, bitch, bitch - why don't you put your money where your mouth is - get off your ass and run. It's so easy to sit back and criticize Jose and others for putting their families and their reputations on the line while assholes like you spit in their faces. Why don’t you open up your closet and expose all your skeletons and then we can talk about being an elected official.

The reason you don't want to run is that you make more money as a teacher than he does as a board member. Stop with the idiotic soap jokes and start putting it out instead of taking it - like you say you already do.

-El Sereno

PS If the bathrooms are so bad, why don't you pick-up some of the papers on the floor - oh I forgot it's not part of your union contract!

David T. of LAUSD last week introduced a motion to ask voters to increase their property taxes to $125.00/year to continue the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Laundering for the construction of public schools.

Another crooked scam...

Who was in the back room making this deal? The same corrupt corporations that continue passing bonds and certificate of participation in order to continue their $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ laundering to contractors.

What is a Certificate of Participation? (COP)

It's Non Voter Approved Bonds! They circumvent Prop. 13 and these Non Voter Approved Bonds have higher interest rates that are eating up the general fund. The public's $$$$ that is being used to purchase these bonds is not being monitored. Wall Street brokers sell these public bonds before they have matured. Therefore the public is losing out on their investments. These are NOT private dollars.

Who is benefiting from the trade and sales of these bonds? Does anybody know?

Who is to blame for this? We need to hold the Los Angeles (Cunt) County Board of Supervisors accountable. They spent 50 million dollars of COPS for the administration bldg. COPS can only be used for public school construction.

Sleazy Huizie didn't speak out against this.

Sleazy Huizie also testified in favor of allowing the Mayor to appoint the LAUSD board members.

Another example of Pay to Play...

Inspector General Don Mullinax resigned shortly after the LAUSD Board denied his REQUEST for funds to audit contractors and subcontractors that continue to STEAL the childrens/students $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

They all need to be put behind bars!

Billion Dollar White Collar Crimes!!

The only way this issue is going to be monitored, eliminated, and put in the media is when parents take charge and riot in groups. Yes, riots! If we have to riot in the streets against the LA County Board of Supervisors, LAUSD, and Mayors office for allowing white collar crime to flourish at the expense of the children's future.

All of you that have connections to parent groups, network and let them know of the abuse.

We have rights and if we have to take it to the media and streets, let it be so.

Yes rioting is one way, we use our rights as citizens to show the corruption in LAUSD & now CITY HALL. The media may prioritize towards this avenue if executed.
