Seperated at Birth Deux?
Antonio Villaraigosa - AKA "The Hamburgular" has been cited by many of his detractors on the Sister City as being one who regularly steals ideas and takes credit for the work of others. Another really bad thing for political leaders to do is to steal the words of others, it's called plagiarization.
In 1987, Senator Joe Biden of Delaware was seeking the Democratic Presidential nomination for the 1988 campaign. During a campaign speech, his fierce oratory had a familiar ring to it. Indeed, for good reason - it was lifted nearly word for word from a speech by British Labor Party Leader Neil Kinnock. Biden's plagiarization led to him having to drop out of the campaign. Only now, 20 years later, is he even reconsidering another run, for 2008.
Here in Los Angeles, we may have yet another example of one leader stealing another's words. Jack Weiss, in a battle against challenger David Vahedi to retain his Fifth District Council Seat, has sent out a mailer that is nearly identical to a 1998 piece produced by the campaign of State Senator Kevin Murray (of course Murray has had his own problems such as being accused of allegedly not actually living in the District he represents, but that's another story for another blog.).
Weiss is likely to win re-election as an entrenched incumbent, but Vahedi is going to do his best to make enough hay to get voters to take a second look at the incumbent.
We just wonder why Weiss would do something so obviously stupid?

I suppose Jack would do something that stupid because his reputaion is that he is - well, stupid.

Why don't you just admit that this website supports Jim Hahn and is a wholly owned subsidiary of his campaign.

Who is the bigger clown - Weiss or ADV? Its really hard to say.

Jack and Kevin have the same consultant and he's stealing his own work.
Stupid mistake on Jack's part.
And he wants to be City Attorney next.

Weiss is a NeoCon in Dems' clothing.

You people don't know what you're talking about. Jack and Antonio are the only professionals on the council. And let me tell anybody who disputes it, Antonio has set up more neighborhood watches than any other councilmember in history. Tell me what Pacheco did for the 14th? That's what I want to know. And if MEAT won't defend Antonio anymore, I will. BANGER

One can't get more dopey than stealing lines from a Neil Kinnock speech!

The funny thing is no one believes ADV set up 80 neighborhood watches only his field staffers and campaign people. His own inner circle has told people in private discussions that it is an absolute lie. Interesting that ADV won't say where they are. I think he's counting all neighborhood watches citywide. ADV uses the excuse that he can't say where they are because of privacy issues. Yeah right.not when you have neighborhood watches in South LA that are posted on the LAPD website. Think of another lie ADV.

80 Neighborhood watches? That is the biggest lie. CallHollenbeck and Northeast Division, then ask to speak to the individual Senior Lead Officers who in charge of each of the Neighborhood Watches. If you total up all the Neighborhood Watches in the CD14 portion of the two police divisions you may come up with 45-50 of them. most of them were in existence before Antonio Villaraigosa came into office. I say he started maybe 10 Neighborhood Watches and is taking credit for the others that were in existence. Even if he takes credit for every single Neighborhood Watch, there are maybe 50 active in his district right now. And that is being optimistic. Either way you look at it, it is a lie. What a shame.

From BANGER: You guys are idiots. Do you think Antonio would say he set up 80 neighborhood watches in a public debate if it wasn't true? You guys prove it isn't. And what about that b.... Janice Hahn. Who does she think she is telling Antonuio to make his "crappy speeches" out in the campaign? When are you Hahn supporters gonna grow up? Nothing but a bunch of losers.

Do you guys really admire Mayor Sam so much that you would name a site for him. That's the Mayor who never missed an opportunity to Red Bait, who led an attack on anti-war demonstrators in Century City in 1967 and who made his living attacking every Democratic icon of the time - Pat Brown, Hubert Humphrey, any Kennedy...
Mayor Sam said:
Yes, we like that we have a website named after one of the most colorful politicians of all time. He blasted the Kennedys? Good! Have you heard the crap that comes out of Ted Kennedy's mouth about Republicans? You don't have to like Republicans, and Mayor Sam is not one (at least the real Mayor Sam) but if you are upset about Mayor Sam bashing Democrats then you must be fair and condemn Ted Kennedy, Jackie Goldberg, anyone else who spews verbal diarrhea.
Mayor Sam was colorful and larger than life. So was Mayor Bradley. Do you want to continue with GRAY politicians like Gray Davis and Jim Hahn?
You should be ashamed of youself for even wasting time on my blog. Now go play on the freeway!

The word is plagiarism, not plagiarization. Idiot.

Hey BANGER when you have LAPD officers in 2 divisions contradicting the lie that Antonio and his moron field staffers are spreading who are you going to believe. Maybe Antonio set up 5 but that's it. Their excuse for not letting anyone know where they are is because of privacy. Bullshit!!! Even South LA has their neighborhood watches listed on LAPD website so that doesn't cut it.

80 Neighborhood Councils is the biggest lie he has ever told!!!! LAPD said his staffers prevent anything from happening rather then getting things done. The Jack Weiss mailer is making me vote for Vahedi now!
Anonymous said:
Who said 80 Neighborhood Councils? Try to keep up with the conversation.

Weiss may not be the best choice, but Vahedi is definitely the worse choice. He would sell his soul to the devil just to win. No thank you! I rather stick with Weiss.
