Say What?
Two different LA City Council Committees (Personnel Committee and Commerce, Energy and Natural Resources Committee) have recommended a veto of the Port's contract with Larry Keller calling it sloppily written and unclear regarding his job duties.
Is this the ONLY reasons they could come up with? What about it being a blatant payoff for crappy leadership? How about the fact that he is likely to be indicted? What of the fact that he is a lightning rod to the local community activists? What about the fact that this is a " golden parachute"?
Is the City Council so deaf that they couldn't hear the outrage? Grow some nuts, call a spade a spade and kill the contract for what it is. If the Harbor Commission actually thought it was such a great idea, why didn't they even bother to show up and defend it?

Remember - you're speaking of the spineless organism known as the Los Angeles City Council. Don't ask for too much here.

Good god man -- poor city council is damned of they do and damned of they don't.
This city council isn't getting any love from anyone on this blog. I can see why people believe this, but can we give them some credit?
Can we give credit to Chick for the Fleishmann audit?
I for some reason want to say thanks -- cause the city council of ten years ago wouldn't have been this vocal over any of this.
Chick should be ashamed of herself.
She is the only person I know who can get away with pointing her finger at other people and not looking at her own department's approval of all those Fleishman payments.
Only after she played the press did she FINALLY use her authority to reject requests for payments that lacked proper paperwork. What took so long??? And how did the other $4.2 million get past HER desk???
What a scam. What responsibility should the CONTROLLER take in the fiasco? She does sign ALL the checks in the City.
Interesting that all of a sudden when Chick wants to be re-elected did she start doing all these audits. The previous blogger is correct. Chick pays the bills and has no one to blame but herself. Why didn't she look the bills over before just signing checks to them.

You would be the one to say thanks to a city controller who should have been doing her job a long time ago instead of paying $4.2 million of our tax dollars to these scam artists. How in the world could she possibly put out a press release patting herself on the back?
This city council without a doubt are the biggest group of losers nation wide. There is absolutely NO LEADERSHIP, they waste valuable tax payer time screwing around throughout the meetings, disrespect one another, at our expense. WE have a big homeless problem, not enough police officers, no afforable housing, and all they do is waste time in council worried about issues that aren't as important like silly string, lap dancing etc. etc. Someone needs to light a firecracker under all their seats and remind them why they were elected.
