Lindsey Lohan responses to Chief Bratton comments

From Associated Press.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Lindsay Lohan said Friday that police have no business getting involved in her personal life, a day after the police chief explained that the paparazzi were no longer an issue - in part because the 22-year-old actress had evidently "gone gay."

"Police chiefs shouldn't get involved in everyone else's business when it comes to their personal life. It's inappropriate," Lohan said in a video shot by paparazzi Friday and posted on TMZ.com. In the footage, Lohan and gal pal Samantha Ronson are trekking through the Los Angeles Airport on their way to catch a flight to Chicago.

The day before, Chief William Bratton said the paparazzi have become less of a problem thanks to Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and Lohan leading more moderate lifestyles.

"If you notice, since Britney started wearing clothes and behaving; Paris is out of town not bothering anybody anymore, thank God, and evidently, Lindsay Lohan has gone gay, we don't seem to have much of an issue," he told KNBC-TV.

Bratton was speaking about his refusal to participate in a meeting held by elected officials Thursday that was called to discuss new laws to curb problem paparazzi.

He called Los Angeles City Councilman Dennis Zine's special session - which was attended by the likes of John Mayer, Eric Roberts and Milo Ventimiglia - "a complete waste of time."

Bratton later called a news conference outside police headquarters to clarify his position on the paparazzi. When asked about the Lohan remark - which followed months of tabloid speculation that Lohan and Ronson, a DJ, are dating - Bratton said his sister is gay and he is a proponent of gay rights.

It's his big effing mouth that always gets Bratton in trouble.

And it was his big effing mouth that got him out of New York.

PUH-leez. Lohan has never done an "appropriate" thing in her life, and her romance with the dyke chick isn't a matter of "speculation" but all over the tabloids, every
nightly network Entertainment show, and TMZ -- which, along with the hit- generating poll on whether she should sue Bratton (PUH=leeze), runs over and over shots of Tara Reid saying she's NOT into chicks, along with more superimposed pix of Lohan kissing and snuggling with her girlfriend. What Lohan really wants from this is renewed interest FROM the paparazzi, since the value of her photos has gone way down since she's been with that gaypal.

USED to be worth more when she was showing her freckled boobs, acting out in public and being derided as a "firecrotch" by that Davis Jr. dude while her supposed BFF Paris Hilton smirked next to him in the car, holding up the phone for him.

She, Paris and until recently Britney are definitely the slut- chick trio who go out of their way to get the paps to follow them and then expect the LAPD to give them special treatment. Sure Bratton's sick of it, and WE've been paying for it. Zany Zine's "motion" he introduced Thurs. to have a special hotline number DIRECT TO LAPD AND ANY LAW ENFORCEMENT IN JURISDICTION 'CELEBS' ARE DRIVING THRU to respond to them SPECIALLY, would add megabucks to that cost that he's supposedly so worried about.

Even if the actors/SAG kicked in some money toward the program, it would piss off the public to know that OUR regular law enforcement is giving certain people "on a list" special protection we can't have -- even though it's the public, from neighbors to people caught in the streets during a chase, who suffer without getting any benefits.

And IF the spoiled brats didn't get as fast response from LAPD etc. as they'd like, they'd sue -- there was already a sense of that from comments from prima dona John Mayer who lashed out at being questioned.

Zine's clumsy sidekick is spinning away here against Bratton, to no avail. Uncle Festus Z-Man is done as a wanna-be public figure, he's had his 15 mins. and it's backfired.

E.g. ABC evening news even did a segment on this -- but made the celebs wanting special protection out to be the Now-We-Want-It, Now-We-Don't-And-Citizens-Pay-For-It spoiled children they are. With groupie Zine kissing their butts.

ABC pointed out that some like JLo and Jolie get millions for their first baby photos -- which they wouldn't get without encouraging the paps all along. So implication was, they can't pick and choose.

BUT left open the reasonable suggestion that paps be licensed & credentialed, with which I agree. Bratton SHOULD be open to that one: it's not as hard as herding cats.

ABC did NOT make him out the fool, however -- he's got way too much national cred, which disgrace to the uniform fat, buffonish and back-stabbing opportunist Zine will never have. Hit the gym, Zine, and take Jan Perry with you -- get your minds off of pushing stupid laws.

Move over, Leno and Letterman. Bratton is looking for a place to deliver his brand of charming quips.

Question, when Antonio is on his junkets, does he take the police bodyguards with him? If so, how many? What is the breakdown for that cost?

Under what conditions would payment of Mayor Tony's bodyguard time NOT be coming out of the City's treasury?

"BRATTON'S LEAVING WITH BLOOD ON HIS HANDS"
SAY FAMILIES OF POLICE BRUTALITY VICTIMS

2,000 Expected at Racial Justice Day Rally 1996

At tomorrow's RACIAL JUSTICE DAY RALLY (City Hall, 4 -5:30 pm), families of police brutality victims will criticize the policies and actions of the NYPD under the leadership of outgoing Commissioner William Bratton. The criticisms include:

* Police brutality and police killings of unarmed youth of color have increased under Commissioner Bratton.

* Commissioner Bratton claims to have reduced crime, but police brutality is a crime. In the name of "reducing street crime," we have been asked to accept an increase of police crime.

* Bratton's "quality of life" sweeps have resulted in more than 98,000 juvenile arrests. 80% of these were for non-violent offenses (such as disorderly conduct, loitering, not having i.d.); and 50% were so minor that only a summons was issued. During these "quality of life" sweeps young people's civil rights are routinely violated.

* Commissioner Bratton has ignored racial crimes against people of color.

* Commissioner Bratton has ignored bias crimes against gays and lesbians.

* Commissioner Bratton has ignored the anti-corruption recommendations of the Mollen Commission; and has failed to mount a vigorous anti-corruption campaign inside the NYPD.

* Commissioner Bratton has undermined the Civilian Complaint Review Board by refusing to even read their findings in the cases of Anthony Rosario and Hilton Vega.

* Commissioner Bratton has ignored the problems of racial and gender discrimination WITHIN the Police Department.

Bratton Pays His Friends For Trips
By CLIFFORD KRAUSS

In an effort to end a controversy, former Police Commissioner William J. Bratton sent checks totaling nearly $12,000 yesterday to Henry Kravis and several other wealthy friends who treated him and his wife to weekend trips while he worked for the city.

Three months after he left office, Mr. Bratton continues to be the object of an inquiry by the Corporation Counsel's office into possible conflicts of interest arising from a book contract and a half-dozen or more trips. Mr. Bratton has repeatedly asserted that he did nothing wrong, and several associates of Mr. Bratton, who spoke on condition of anonymity, have suggested that the inquiry was part of an effort by the Giuliani administration to pressure Mr. Bratton into quitting as commissioner.

In an interview yesterday, Mr. Bratton said his payment to friends for trips on their private jets and stays at their homes was not intended as an admission that he had broken any regulations. "While these trips could be construed as gifts," he said, "they are not conflicts of interest as defined by the rules of the Conflict of Interest Board, since none of these men did business with the city, as far as I know."

The trips in question included visits to the homes of Mr. Kravis, the Wall Street executive, in Colorado in 1994 and the Dominican Republic in 1996, as well as to the Palm Springs home of Robert Johnson, a senior executive at Johnson & Johnson Corporation. A list of such trips was leaked to reporters by City Hall officials earlier this year, and contributed to Mr. Bratton's image as a jet-setter and social climber.

Mr. Bratton reported the reimbursements for the trips yesterday in a standard financial disclosure form that senior officials and recently departed officials are required to file with the Department of Investigation and the Conflict of Interest Board by June 30.

"These were and continue to be friends who invited me to their private homes," Mr. Bratton said. "But because the issue of conflict of interest is a subject of interest and a matter of interpretation, I have compensated each of these individuals for the equivalent of first class flight tickets and hotel accommodations for me and my wife."

Mr. Bratton said he saw no difference between accepting a trip to someone's home outside the state or country and accepting a ride from a friend and staying at his apartment in Brooklyn.

Paul A. Crotty, the Corporation Counsel, and Colleen A. Roche, Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani's press secretary, did not return telephone calls requesting comment.

Mr. Bratton said there was nothing significant about the timing of his decision to pay his friends, adding, "I'm just trying to put this to rest."

But he noted that two weeks ago, when reports were circulating that Mr. Bratton might run for mayor against Mr. Giuliani, Raymond Harding, the Liberal Party leader, raised the issue of the trips. Mr. Bratton characterized Mr. Harding as the Mayor's "designated attack dog."

Mr. Bratton, who is now running the New York office of First Security Corporation, a Boston security company, said he was not interested in running for mayor next year. But Mr. Bratton did not close the door on a future campaign.

The whole story of Bratton?s tenure in New York is not being told. He reduced petty crime, it is true, to the great relief of people across the city. But the ?Bratton era? created other problems that will continue to be felt for years to come. These were:Pre-trial detention for tens of thousands of indigent African-American and Latino youth. These young people were ?put into the system? while awaiting arraignment. The City of New York paid up to $50 million to settle a lawsuit on behalf of 50,000 plaintiffs who asserted they were strip searched for ?broken windows? offenses- the largest monetary settlement of a civil rights suit in New York history. The popular stop-and-frisk policies were overkill; for example, no weapons were found in 75% of the stop-and-frisks for suspicion of having a gun?.

In summary, the Bratton era in New York led directly to scandals like Rampart in LA. The police misconduct scandals in New York crested shortly after Bratton?s departure, and he attempted to distance himself in later comments to Time magazine (3-6-02). But the claim is implausible, since the rising patterns of police misconduct and citize complaints began during Bratton tenure (1994-1996) according to Amnesty International data (1994) and continued to spiral out of control in the three years after his departure.

10:08: Yeah, it's a real shame to have a Top Cop who knows his job -- including who the main non-crime- related distractions are for his force. Like Britney without her undies and Paris attracting swarms of paps and hazardous road conditions. And he must pick up a paper or watch tv once in a while -- I for one try to avoid the goings-on of Lindsay, from her gaypal to rehab stints of a day here and there before going off the wagon, but it's too ubiquitous.

What's scarier is someone who looks like Z-Man/ Uncle Festus making himself an "expert" on all these young bimbos and Boy Toys like John Mayer just to try to get them to know who HE is by kissing upto them. Bratton's not familiarizing himself with these people because he's a groupie, but because it's his JOB.

Zine should emulate Bratton and hit the gym, instead of cruising the highways "born to be free" on his Harley in a too-tight leather getup. (He and Jan Perry would benefit from more time at the gym and less time wasting Council time on Nanny-state laws they're not smart enough to think through.)

In January 1995, as NY City police commissioner, Bratton admitted to a group of business executives in Boston that, while crime is declining, fear of crime is up. "Fear far surpasses the reality of crime," he said, according to the Boston Globe. "Crime statistics are manipulated in the interests of the profit motive -- high crime rates mean high expenditures on police, on public and private prison
construction and staffing."

'GLOWING' BACKGROUND CHECK IGNORED TESTIMONY
Author(s): Thomas Palmer, Globe Staff Date: May 17, 1986 Page: 17 Section: METRO A background check on William J. Bratton, designated to become chief of the Metropolitan
Police, has been completed and yielded "nothing but glowing reports from all concerned," according to MDC Commissioner William J. Geary.
But the routine background investigation, conducted by the State Office of Investigations,
did not include an examination of Bratton's testimony before a Suffolk County grand jury in a
criminal case in which Bratton has been subpoenaed as a witness.
Bratton has indicated he will not appear voluntarily in the case, citing plans to be away after he is married on May 24. The attorney for
the defense in the case said this week he would ask the judge to compel Bratton to testify. The
case, scheduled for trial on May 27, involves William J. Sweeney, 38, of Hanson, a former Boston police officer who is accused of illegally receiving pay for an outside job for three years while he was on full-salaried injury leave from the department.

Bratton, formerly a superintendent in the Boston Police Department, was questioned before a grand jury late last year concerning a telephone recommendation he allegedly gave -- and a written
one he allegedly arranged -- for Sweeney, who was applying to Whitman-Hanson Community Regional School District.

Chief Bratton's comments were pure sexist and demeaning. He should be reprimanded for those words. It is no ones business what a woman is wearing beneath her clothing. The fact that paparazzi were behaving in an uncontrolled manner is their own wrongdoing, not the females involved. If they have worn that clothing the chief mentioned the paparazzi would have been behaving irrationally to take photos of those "pantie lines". This bratton fellow would do better shoveling manure some where. A true gentleman would avert his eyes if a woman showed a bit too much. If he did see too much he would pretend not to. A true gentleman would NEVER photograph the event and sell it to a sleaze magazine or sleaze web site like TMZ. That man Mayer works for TMZ and no doubt make a lot of money trashing these young women. He, John Mayer, is not unlike that sleazeball Salomon who trashed Paris for money with that video. He then trashed several others culminating in that short time marriage to Pam Anderson. If I were a young woman in CA, I certainly would not accept interest from the slime balls pursuing these young beautiful talented women, I would choose the company of another woman as Lindsay has done. It is much safer. Chief Bratton should be fired and Los Angelos should pass a strong severe papazzi law.
