Morning Brief on a "likely" Ana Guerrero CD 14 Campaign in 2015 for Monday

Has Mayor Eric Garcetti Chief of Staff Ana Guerrero domicile herself in CD 14 for possible challenge against current beleaguer City Councilman Jose Huizar in 2015 (most likely)?
Mayor Garcetti Chief of Staff Ana Guerrero.
A political battle is coming to CD 14 in 2015.
Between the "political chisme" regarding his legal issues with former staffer Francine Godoy or his alleged connection to State Senator Ron Calderon's Bribery Scandal, it has been a given that the "Dear Charro, Princeton Graduate" would face a re-election challenge from someone associated with "Team Garcetti". After all, endorsing the wrong candidates in multiple elections (CD 1, CD 9, CD 13, City Attorney, City Controller, LAUSD District Six and Mayor) last May, is bound to get you labeled as "weak politico walking".
Since the May Runoff Elections, speculation has been rampant about possible challengers to a politically weaken Huizar. Names broached included LA County Board of Supervisor Gloria Molina, State Senator Kevin De Leon and Assembly Speaker John Perez among others.
But for various (and potentially scandalous) reasons, none of the three above will be the primary candidate to take out the former Mayor Antonio Villar (and Wendy "The Villar Greuel") ally. That designation may be bestow by Mayor Garcetti to his own Chief of Staff Ana Guerrero who has supposedly domicile herself in CD 14.
Early feedback on a possible Guerrero challenge bids not well for Huizar. Guerrero represents the best qualities in a candidate that would present major matchup problems for the embattled incumbent.. First, and most important, Guerrero is a young, successful Latina who would garner young, female and progressive support in a council district tire of the "Tonto Villar-type political (and personal) behavior". But most important, Huizar recent women issues would preclude him from going negative on a candidate such as Guerrero, taking away a past successful Parke Skelton/ Michael Trujillo campaign tactic.
But before anyone anoints Guerrero as the designated challenger to Huizar, they may want to search out Victor Griego who was the "Chosen One" in 1999, only to lose under the weight of his "political carpet baggage".
...... and no doubt, a growing group of home grown challengers will remind CD 14 voters of that in the upcoming 2015 Campaign.

Though it is rare to see a city council member voted out of office, there may be an opening for Guerrero. Huizar is facing a sexual harassment lawsuit from his former deputy chief of staff. Though he denied harassing her, the married Huizar did say he and Francine Godoy had an affair. And Huizar endorsed Wendy Greuel over Garcetti in the 2013 race. (That said, Huizar still enjoys major support from Council President Herb Wesson.)

..... wonder why?  (think Building & Safety and Redistricting Scandal).
Your thoughts ..............

I had heard a rumor she was going for CD4, but this makes sense too.

For the reasons you mention, Ana makes an attractive candidate and certainly, Huizar is a toxic brand.

But the carpetbagging issues could be trouble. It is my understanding that, at least until recently, she lived in La Crescenta. That could set her up fine to move into Tujunga and run for CD7. Even Krekorian was a slip over Clybourn from Burbank to NoHo or Koretz sliding from WeHo to CD5 is not so much a geographic difference. But from the foot of the Verdugos above Glendale to is a big difference. Yes I realize Eagle Rock is in CD14 and buts up against Glendale, but the heart and MEAT of CD14 is much further south and east. Unless Guerrero perhaps grew up or has family connections on the Eastside (she may very well, I don't know), the carpetbagging charge may be hard to overcome. However, she does have more time than Krekorian did to relocate and Weezy-Fatigue may be significant enough to wipe that out.

Michael, you are correct in surmising the mitigation effect of Huizzy-Fatigue on Guerrero's residency issue.
Further, Huizzy himself may have cancel out the issue with a recent "relocation".
More on that later ......

Huizar is now trying to say it was consensual to continue his career,as many politicians have done before him. If the truth came out, which is that he used his position to harass and torment this poor girl, his life/marriage would be over. The fact is, Francine Godoy was a victim and is now being portrayed as a home wrecker because huizar "admitted to an affair" which just isn't true. People are just stuck on her salary...in the public sector, if a guy over 7 years worked his way up the corporate ladder, it wouldn't be a big deal. All this girl did was work hard and kept her honor the whole time. Anonymous posters on blogs who made up rumors years ago were just jealous of her and in competition. .... Jose is a scum bag. Sincerely-someone who knows

I, long time homeowner and resident of CD14 welcomes Ana Guerrero, To everyone's surprise Ana has a long history of friends in CD 14, and the need for someone with good ethics and community involvement and respect for the voters is needed. Huizar is totally disconnected to the general needs of CD 14. Economic development in Boyle Heights has failed and continue todo so, he has devoted himself to only the arts, however, we need more industry and jobs growth of industry and needs of the community services. Boyle Heights is now a third world country with Huizar and Gabildo, illegal street venders, out of control murals, legal and non, Maria Gabildo with high density affordable and low income housing impact in BH, in addition to homeless rehabilitation housing and now the out of control murals, and street venders, permanent garage sales, and now to move the homeless from Downtown to Boyle Heights is not a solution to help the people. What else can I say, thank Huizar for making Boyle Heights such a dump. NO MORE DUMPING ON BOYLE HEIGHTS

Huizar's wife knows the truth but is remaining silent because she needs him to work to support her and their kids.

Both Huizar and Godoy failures to have ethics in the work place. Both are equally in fault, however, the Labor board will have a say on this lawsuite and Godoy will win just because she was the employee. However, on the Guerrero issue, I am getting concern and to how she is being introduce to CD 14, bad decision to name her Marshal of the toy give away, that is a little pushy, and I belive she needs to work on what she can do, not getting the free ride from Garcetti, I am somewhat disappointed in Garcetti's envolvement, and more so his staff have not impressed me in issues with Boyle Heights.
