Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Hump Day

Mayor Eric Garcetti reverses course on Building & Safety, Planning Departments Merger.
Mayor Garcetti shows reasoned leadership on reversing previous opinion/ vote on merger.
** Great Bloggin Hump Day to all in the local political cybersphere as we start this A.M. in commending Mayor Garcetti for reversing course. Usually, reversing course on a policy issue is derided from failures in the implementation (think the debacle that is Nobamacare), but in the case of the proposed merger of the Building & Safety and Planning Departments, initiated by former Mayor Antonio Villar, hindsight along with foresight, prevented a policy FUBAR waiting to happen.
** As the City Clowncil Central Committee scrambles in response to an accidental act of investigated journalism via the "Old Gray Collectivist Hag on Spring Street" (aka LA Times), regarding sub-standard seismic enforcement, we engage in a blogging flashback to a previous Old Gray Collectivist Hag" expose that should cause a panic pause among those within the confines of the "John Ferraro Memorial Horseshoe". Remember the ADI Housing Scandal (and the big payments to Richard Alatorre)? We do, on this potential disaster waiting to happen ............., an scary excerpt.

Pasternak (bankruptcy overseer) has accused ADI of dramatically inflating its bills at various development projects, many of them in the city's poorest neighborhoods. Many were also plagued by poor construction or substandard materials, he said.
....... no wonder why the city was stonewalling.
** LADOT General Manager Jaime De La Vega may want to make his Hummer ready for return to the city motor pool as the SEIU 721 inspired employees of his department, rise up in revolt. Safe bet that De La Vega will be the next former Mayor Villar Department Head to exit city government.
** The monthly, "Northeast Fishwrap of Record", the Boulevard Sentinel (edited by Tom Topping) has two hot-button exposes on alleged red-curb retaliation by CD 14 City Councilman Jose Huizar and the dubious "El Autry Plan" for the Southwest Museum, being fronted by the connected Mt. Washington Duo of Gabriel and Pilar Buelna.
Your thoughts ..................
Scott Johnson in CD 14
