Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Tuesday

LAFD Chief Brian Cummings to face the City Clowncil Central Committee questioning on 911 response times controversy.

Various photo ops using LAFD equipment.

Great Tuesday morning to all as we near the sound of City Clowncil Central Committee Strongman Herb "Mini Amin" Wesson's gavel to commence this morning's gathering at the Horseshoe on Spring Street.
The main theatrics besides general Public Comments, should come from LAFD Chief Brian Cumming's "Q and A" with the Clowncil over the controversy of 911 response time documentation.
Questions about Chief Cumming's handling of this controversy are sure to spark some pointed exchanges. Yet, may we dare say "we told you so", regarding Chief Cummings fitness for the job, when we posted this upon Chief Cumming appointment to LAFD's top job?
In a stunning appointment, Mayor Villaraigosa is set to announce the appointment of Assistant Chief Brian Cummings as the next Fire Chief of the Los Angeles Fire Department. Stunning why? Cummings does not have a college degree, had never worked in the upper echelon of the LAFD prior to a year ago, and wasn’t even well known within the Department much less the fire service prior to being selected as Millage Peaks' Chief of Staff. Cummings has been Interim Fire Chief since July and his major accomplishment since being appointed caretaker is tweeting his coffee and dinner plans and retweeting alerts and articles that should have been vetted. The Mayor’s appointment is considered a slap in the face to rank and file firefighters. Cummings was the primary architect that stripped 318 firefighters from firehouses around the city. Perhaps the Mayor is appointing him as Chief Political Water Carrier into the stench of his lame duck administration is appropriately tossed. The handicappers had felt Patrick Butler - a Spanish speaking Mexican/Irish Assistant Chief - was the odds on favorite. A graduate of the Naval Postgraduate school and Harvard Fellow, Butler is respected within the department, City Hall, and across the nation.

Another glaring example of failure from the "Reign of Mayor Antonio Villar".

** 2013 mayoral candidate Eric Garcetti picked up the endorsement of the San Fernando Valley Dependantcrats in a campaign coup over challenger and former Republican Wendy "The Valley Greuel". We invite "Private Citizen/Political Consultant John Shallman to comment on why his client lost this home turf endorsement.

** The Dear Charro, Princeton Graduate CD 14 Jose Huizar is apparently going to see his proposed Downtown Choo Choo Legacy Project become reality as twenty percent of downtown voters decided to stick property owners (who could not vote) with $85 Million dollars in new taxes. As one local observer stated "Streetcar LA staff did a great job of gaming the system to achieve their purpose'.

** We would like to wish City Attorney Candidate Mike Feuer a speedy recovery after his auto accident yesterday. Feuer's Prius was hit by a truck as he was driving to the swearing in of new District Attorney Jackie Lacey.

** Ron Kaye pens his thoughts on the repugnant behavior of City Clowncil Central Committee Strongman Herb "Mini Amin" Wesson, in regards to his treatment of former Mayor Richard Riordan. Riordan should take solace in the fact that Angelinos support his efforts to reform the Pension Monster that is eating away the General Fund.

** The Old Gray Collectivist Hag on Spring Street Editorial Board has the gall to waste newsprint downplaying the "private behavior" of Board of Public Works President Andrea AlarCON. This from the same former fishwrap of record that expended an untold great amount of story budget, in attempting to destroy the former "Kennedy Republican Governor" before a Recall election.

** Just breaking is a report via Mayor Antonio Villar's press office, that a federal mediator will intervene in the hope of bring resolution to the crippling and costly Port of LA and Long Beach job action.

** Lastly, is another city official facing a pending legal action for a recent after hour incident? More later ........

Your thoughts ..............

It appears that even without a college degree, Cummings held his own against the Council. In fact, the initial vocal opponents in the horseshoe made an abrupt about-face. The fire department was put in a no-win situation and the Council was looking for a scapegoat. Wait until after the holidays and another attack will be initiated.
