Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Friday
The late-night misadventures of Andrea AlarCON..
City of Los Angeles Board of Public Works President Andrea AlarCON.
Finally! Someone asked the question many in City Hall had been broaching in private.
As more details on the troubling behavior of City of LA Board of Public Works President Andrea AlarCON come to light, one lingering question that many in City Hall have been broaching in private, was finally presented to Mayor Antonio Villar by City Hall beat writers.
The Nov. 16 Project Restore party honored Villaraigosa. The mayor attended the event, but then left City Hall, his spokesman Peter Sanders said."The mayor wasn't with Commissioner Alarcón after the Project Restore party," Sanders said.
Que? In context, many in City Hall have speculating whether the relationship between Mayor Villar and AlarCON is more than professional. One City Hall insider went as far to question whether the former "LA Antonio Times" would have the journalistic cajones to ask the Mayor whether he was with AlarCON during the time the daughter was left alone at City Hall. Now we have more details on the night in question, but the rumors on the duo's past liaisons still persist . But regardless of whether AlarCON has visited Mayor Villar at Getty House for other than city business, the glaring issue here is why AlarCON has not been charge yet for child endangerment That question should be ask of LAPD Chief Charlie Beck.
** The Ports of Los Angeles and to a lesser extent Long Beach, are in a state of near shut down as 50 union clerical workers continue their job action. Ocean shippers are considering other berthing options to disembark their cargo in "Greece on the Pacific"..
** Ready for this political surprise via LA Weekly's Patrick Range McDonald?
By now it's common knowledge that Los Angeles City Council members love their perks and holidays. Just read the L.A. Weekly cover story "Los Angeles on $300,00 a Year." But now they're taking time off from dealing with important city business -- it's officially called a "recess" -- for a major conference they don't even attend.
Props to City Councilman Ed Reyes and Mitch Englander for actually attending the conference.
Your thoughts ..............

Interesting.....the kid is wandering around downtown at nearly 11pm, her mom sees her and tells her to walk back to City Hall---by herself. Then the mom gets loaded and spends a couple of hours in a hotel room, not giving a damn about her daughter's safety.

She needs to resign and her child needs to be taken away from her and put in custody of her grandmother (Alarcon's ex-wife) or some other responsible family member.
We've all heard the speculation where she was and who she was with. Interesting it's now reaching the papers. John Walsh has been putting it out there. All disgusting.

The Alarcon story is a tragedy for the little girl; the mother should be charged.
The comedy is suggesting that Englander and Reyes going to the LoC convention is a worthwhile expenditure of city funds or employees' time. Englander has the intellectual heft of a junior college dropout and Reyes isn't much better; the question of what either one would bring to, or take away from, a LoC event is the one worth asking.

Can anyone please tell me what Ms. Alarcon's profession vitae and background is with regards to her appointed position as President of the Board of Public Works?
Or is it just the nice rack?

Isn't it wonderful when bloggers with political differences with others start banging the drums for criminal prosecutions? You people haven't a clue, nor care about what is in the best interests of her child... you just want a head on a stake of someone you personally oppose and that is sick.
The police will do their job, child services will do their job and whatever appropriate action needs to be taken will be but this reveling at the thought of blood in the water is why this blog averages 5 comments per post. You guys are one step short of TMZ except TMZ actually has viewers.

Oh yes by all means lets tear apart a family based on speculation.
Get real

That family has torn itself apart through it's irresponsibility, narcism and greed. Let's hope law enforcement gets to do their job without interference from this very powerful family and their friends.

Very sad. Reporters all over city hall. She had no business being a Commissioner at public workw. She is a recent graduate from law school but had no public works experience. This job was given to her by daddy. She was not ready nor was she seasoned enough to take on such a high pressure job. Her best bet at this time is to resign, apologize to public works employees & get a real job in a law office. If she can find one. But she should resign immediately.

Here's a classic quote from this thread: "child services will do their job". Are you kidding me? Have you ever had to deal with these morons directly?

11:50, Oh I am sorry let us follow the lead of some anonymous bloggers instead.
Yes, there are examples of CPS not doing their job but their are countless cases every day of them doing a fine job.. Or shall we believe the LAPD, CPS, City Attorney and the press are all in a grand conspiracy to protect the daughter of an outgoing city council member who's power is waning?
Richard Alarcon may have his issue, but Andrea is not Richard so attacking the "family" shows where this is really coming from. Blood thirst to oppose a political opponent, and not giving a damn about what that does to anyone including an 11 year old child.
Save me the self-righteous indignation, the posts on this blog make clear the motivations of those so hungry to throw people in jail and break up families.
It never occurred to anyone that she was qualified, her work at the Attorney General's office and her schooling is all irrelevant... It must be her connections and that she has tits. You people have become the very caricatures people always accuse you of being.

and yes, I have dealt with child services on many occasions. I find them to be usually professional and quite thorough, usually showing too much caution blowing things out of proportion so they aren't accused of cutting corners if something goes wrong.
But it isn't like you guys care about that, let's just hang her from the nearest light pole.

No, everyone knows it's her tits. Her education may make her qualified to maybe get coffee for Tamar Galatzan at the City Attorney's office but she has no education or credentials in construction.

Our website is asking the LAPD Inspector General to investigate the circumstances surrounding the LAPD decision to allow Andrea Alarcon to retain custody of her child at Central Division and leave at 2AM without subjecting the mother to drug testing. We ask Supervisor Mike Antonovich to also launch an investigation into DCFS conduct that Saturday AM at LAPD Central Division.

Let's just burn her at the stake.
