Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Tuesday

Following the lead of Eagle Rock Patch Editor Ajay Singh, we post this FBI reminder about reporting corrupt public officials. If you happen to have information about building inspectors or other officials who have accepted bribes in Los Angeles, the FBI urges you to call its local Field Office at (310) 477-6565 or by e-mailing reportbribes@ic.fbi.gov.

This in light of the latest conviction and sentencing today of a City of Los Angeles Building and Safety Inspector in the growing scandal at City Hall. Eagle Rock resident Hugo Gonzalez was sentence to 18 months in the federal pen and fined $9,000 for accepting bribes for permits. 

Gonzalez, who was caught on tape making threats of death against an employee of a contracting firm, accepted $9,000 dollars in bribes and made insinuations that other employees were involve in the bribe scandal, But unlike Raoul Germain, who stated that he did not cooperate with federal authorities, there was no mention if Gonzalez had provided any information on other corrupt public officials to investigators.

Onwards and upwards, the scandal continues ............

** The Infant Assemblyman Mike Gatto is building his legislated legacy on the foreskin of fellow infants as Governor Jerry Brown signed his bill protecting parents rights to practice the age old ritual. Gatto should hope that these "cut upon infants" don't turn into angry voters someday.

** The likes of LAPD Chief Charlie Beck, Mayor Antonio Villar, City Controller Wendy Greuel and City Councilman Mitch Englander, are making dire warnings about the looming release of prisoners from state prisons.

** To the leftist Obamanistas occupying the Triforium at City Hall, are you in in solidarity with the proposed demands of your Wall Street comrades? After all, I would protest Mayor Villar's Corporate Welfare giveaway to AEG for a living wage of $20 dollars per hour.


** CD 9 City Councilwoman Jan Perry continues to pick up "strategic endorsements", the latest being former County Supervisor Yvonne Brathwaite Burke, which was use to shore up the "woman demographics".


** Assemblyman Warren Furutani was glad to announce the "Democratic Sierra Club Endorsement" while Joe Buscaino picked up support of more register voters in the upcoming CD 15 Special Election.

  Lastly, California Republicans and Democrats can come together and applaud Governor Jerry Brown for signing legislation requiring the governor to notify prosecutors before acting on future requests to commute prison terms. Some background. San Diego State student Luis Santos was stabbed to death during a brawl involving a group that included Esteban Nunez, who last year pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and assault with a deadly weapon. In the hours before he left office in January, Schwarzenegger reduced Esteban Nunez’s sentence from 16 years to seven years.
