TGIF Afternoon Political News Dump
Future candidates for Mayor, US Senate, Mayor and Controller in this photo.
With a TGIF Happy Hour commencing in five minutes (3:55 PM) here are some of the political news dump for this political week ending.
** The "Corporate Welfare City-State of AEG LA LIVE" is awaiting California Governor Moonbeam II's signature on its fast track bill (reminds this blogger of Mayor Villar's unconstitutional AB 1381 boondoggle) that would give it special accelerated treatment when faced with environmental challenges for its Farmer Field proposal. Now that the "Blue-Green Coalition" has shown its hypocrisy as shills for AEG, lets do away with EIRs and CEQA regulations to until California unemployment returns to 5%.
** The new piano playing candidate for Mayor Eric Garcetti has his website online for your conmusing pleasure. We note that there are no piano tunes but a nice picture of AARP extras graces the homepage.
** The loses are mounting as the monetary toll from former Democratic Campaign Treasurer Kinde Durkee will surely past the seven figure mark. The Los Angeles Democratic Party coffers are missing $200,000 and Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez's campaign account was almost completely looted.
** What can you extrapolate from City Controller Wendy Greuel's audits of various city departments? First, they are exercises in political grandstanding and lastly, hardly anyone cares in management to change their wasteful ways.
GREAT WEEKEND TO ALL AND LETS REMEMBER THOSE WHO WERE TAKEN FROM US ON 9-11-01 AND OUR BRAVE SOLDIERS WHO GAVE THE SUPREME SACRIFICE IN OUR WAR ON TERROR.
Scott Johnson in CD 14.

Wendy Greuel's report on the way that Trutanich has failed to implement a single recommendation from the 66 in her audit of the city attorney's office workers compensation program should be getting a lot more attention.
Trutanich used Laura Chick during his campaign by fooling her into believing he would welcome an audit. But when he took office, he changed his mind and opposed Chick and Greuel's position. He said an audit was 'OK' as long as he agreed to it, but it could not be forced on him. In the end, he agreed to the audit to make it look like he was being reasonable, but now, one year after the audit was completed, he's done nothing. The cost of the audit and the legal costs that came before it, amounts to millions of tax payer dollars.
As Trutanich is so willing to waste our money on an audit that he never had any intention of following, perhaps Wendy should be demanding a refund from Trutanich. After all, he's still got about $2M from his billboard lawsuit to spend, so give it back to the tax payers.

Regarding AB 1381: There will be challenges as to the constitutionality of state legislation benefiting a single private enterprise. This Assembly Bill essentially puts EIR challenges to the AEG deal out of the hands of the public and into the sole purview of organizations that can afford the higher court fees of the court of appeal. There are also some equal protection of the law and due process issues here.
Usually, it would take the issue of urgency associated with a Petition for a Writ of Mandate, in order for the court of appeal to take original jurisdiction.
The sets an very dangerous and selective precedence in putting business profit concerns above the public interests.
The law typically encourages addressing issues at the lowest possible level, without court intervention, if possible. Why else would there be tools like mediation, arbitration, alternative dispute resolution and small claims court? The court of appeal primarily functions as a review of a lower court or administrative decision. This AB 1381 will not survive a district appeals court challenge.

WHAT HAVE I BEEN SAYING ABOUT CITY HALL AND TRUTANICH'S OFFICE AUTHORING PLANNING ORDINANCES REMOVING EIR'S NOW THE STATE GOVERNMENT IS HELPING TO LIMIT THE PUBLIC IN PREVENTING ANY COURT ACTION TO STOP AEG AND CLEARLY THERE ACTUAL PLAN TO BREAK ENVIRONMENTAL RULES. THEY (AEG SUPPORTERS) DON'T WANT THE PUBLIC TO PUT AEG IN A COURT OVER PARKING OR TRANSIT ISSUES THAT WILL CAUSE MAJOR PROBLEMS DURING EVENTS ESPECIALLY FOR PEOPLE WHO COMMUTE TO DOWNTOWN FOR WORK. LOOK AT THE PEOPLE WHO SUPPORTED AEG IN THE FIRST PLACE THERE'S THE PEOPLE TO BLAME.
