Los Angeles Politics Hotsheet for Friday
The City of LA may be boycotting Arizona but Nevada is asking California businesses to consider a boycott of their own of the Golden State. The Silver State is running an ad campaign that is encouraging enterprises to take advantage of their friendlier business climate including a lack of corporate and business taxes.
He's back! Fresh off yet another last place win perennial candidate Phil Jennerjahn has announced his next run for office. Phil plans to move into the 4th Council District and challenge current member Tom LaBonge. The erstwhile blogger and goofy recall leader calls LaBonge the "Al Bundy" of LA politics and has to be stopped. No doubt about it, Jennerjahn vs LaBonge will indeed be the battle of the half-wits.
As a kid I used to love reading the TV Times in my Dad's Sunday LA Times. Particularly the column in the back where viewers wrote in to get their questions about television shows and TV in general. Sometime back, the TV Times was cancelled. Now it's back, but quite sadly as a way for the Former Fishwrap of Record to earn some much needed shekels: if you want the listings it will set you back $2.99 a month.

I always figured that phil jennerjahn would run again, but since he WISELY exposes DICK AlarCON in city council, I'm surprised he didn't challenge DICK. LaBonge is low hanging fruit. But he has charisma, and that's what will give Phil another loss. Phil has no personality.

Isn't this the time where you usually blame the criticism on Higby, Mary Cummins, Red Spot, Joe B., Antonio, Alarcon, and everyone other than yourself?
As to the TV Listings in the Times now available for $2.99, it's a shit publication, but I'd sooner buy that than donate a dime to a two time, last place finisher like you.
If you SUCCESSFULLY recall ANYONE in city hall, I'll reconsider my position. But until such a point in time, you're a loser's loser who quits, connives, and finishes in last place.

If Tom LeBongggg is the "Al Bundy" of L.A. politics (does he have a hot, slutty daughter?), and Alvin Parra is the "Homer Simpson, then that must make Phil Jennerjahn, (wait, carry the 2, divide by 4), the "Elmer Fudd". . . always hunting something, (political office?) but never in any danger of catching anything -- except maybe a cold, or flies -- while doing it.
I will wait to hear what Phil does on the recall before I decide to support him or not. I hate Tom LaBonge, who I consider to be borderline retarded.
But I'm not going to support another borderline retard until and unless he proves that he can successfully execute a project that he voluntarily took on. And that includes updating those of us he's asking for support from.
Stephen Box would be the best candidate in CD 4 to take out LaBonge.
Yes, I'm going to listen to a man (at least by age he's a man) who lives in his mother's basement (Red Spot) on who is a good candidate.
Learn something about the working world before you make recommendations. Pay rent before you offer your opinion. Be a PHONE CALL away from mommy instead of hitting the ceiling of the basement with your little league bats,and maybe then we'll take you seriously Red Spot.
Box won't dress in the required monkey suit and wear the regulation haircut. He doesn't stand a chance.
Tom Labonge may get off easy.
A group has asked that either David T. Vahedi or Jane Usher, or both to run.
Vahedi is not willing to move two miles east and Usher is tip toeing. Nuch is also not keen on seeing his top deputy run though he would pick up a friend on the horseshoe.
I also like Jim O'Sullivan, but I am not sure he can raise the dough.
Stephen Box would unite just about everyone behind him if he ran for CD4. He's a hands on community activist with great ideas and style.
Wendy is such a dumbass. She forgot to mention in her report that it was the mayor who order the commissioner to hold the money from the city council.

He's a lunatic, who supports pint-sized dictators like Paul Krekorian!
Even though he is just a lowly City Council Member, Paul Krekorian wants to interfere with the ability of a sovereign State to defend its own borders and protect its citizens.
Stephen Box are you kidding???? He's a joke and his main issue is bicycles. He runs with a radical outlaw group of immature adult males who have nothing better to do then go bike riding at night. He hasn't done anything for our city like Jane Usher and David Vahedi and others who are thinking of running. They are serious candidates to replace LaBonge who needs to go.

I am not fan of Joe B. But when you challenge HIM on his not respecting Arizona's right to protect its borders, how come YOU don't respect the legality of the L.A. mayor's vote?
It doesn't matter that only 10% of the people voted. The other 90% didn't care. And YOU didn't do enough to get more people out to vote.
The result of the vote is the result we live with. I hate almost all of our elected officials. But the result is the result. And barring CRIMINAL activity (the ticket scandal is unethical but probably not criminal), HOW COME YOU DON'T RESPECT THE VOTE THAT WAS DONE LEGALLY? HOW COME YOU'RE NOT RESPECTING IT?

If you don't like how Joe B doesn't respect Arizona's rights, how come YOU don't respect the lawful vote of the people?
If you did more THEN, perhaps things would be different now. Instead of running a recall, why not try to find a better candidate who can WIN? Clearly, you are incapable of anything other than losing to EVERYONE, including a homeless man.
So, answer the question. What gives you the right to undo a fair and legal vote? And I'd have chosen anyone other than Villaraigosa, including moore, hertzberg, caruso and others.

7:03 must mean by "a group" the same cast of clowns who pushed Vahedi and Trutanuch and organized a bunch of rigged, fake debates for them to be pre-ordained "winners" and are linked to the likes of John Thomas - I can definitely see them pushing Jane Usher who spent months on the campaign trail working with them. Lord help us.
She lives in Hancock Park already, but Vehedi is unlikely to want to carpetbag. However he ran twice unsuccessfully in CD5 and may feel his ambitions need new territory. On the other hand, the same group of conservative homeowners, the Just Say No to Everything crowd, is already unhappy with Koretz and would promote Vahedi again.
Last thing we need is Jane Usher as a rubber stamp for Trutanich.
Raphael Sonnenshein's L A Times article, coming from him as the head writer of L A's City Charter, hits the nail on the head about how his wanting grand jury power is "an end-run around the voters of Los Angeles, through the City Charter, to decide how much power their elected officials will have."
By joining up with Gil Cedillo, who has his own axes to grind with city officials, to try to ram this through the state Assembly during their last-minute flurry to pass all kinds of laws. Sonnenshein says in so many words, it's just the kind of person who would do such a thing who should not be entrusted with the extra power.

Jane Usher has never done anything but complain that others have too much power. Now she's a willful stooge for a Republican from Long Beach.
Jane Usher is no one's rubber stamp and never will be. She doesn't need a job. She took the job with the City Attorney because it suited her needs. If elected, she wouldn't be owing to anyone. If anything, Nuch owes her.

Phil, Krekorian did not vote to boycott Arizona, he was out that day and has said publicly that he doesn't think the City Council should be getting involved in another state's affairs. You would've known that had you bothered to do the slightest bit of research before you opened your dumb ass mouth.

Lots of people support Jane Usher because she was the only one who had the guts way back to go against the city and Antonio on the planning issues. She broke from the ranks and fought for the people. She went around speaking out. She's a strong woman and definitely not a Trutanich kiss butt. She's the type of candidate the CD4 needs. Add to that the work she's done on the marijuana shops. The other candidates don't have much to offer. Stephen Box has no back up of issues like Jane or even David Vahedi to speak of and will get smashed. There is a another strong male candidate I think will come out soon. CD4 will have great people to get LaBonge Out

And you're cut from the same cloth, bullies who say ANYTHING to try to get elected, but can't take criticism and intimidate and threaten your clients. Jane was caught on tv in a flat-out lie during the campaign for Trutanich, insisiting Dean Chemerinsky told her he agreed with Trutanich that he didn't have to disclose clients but he said he told her the opposite, and that she never disclosed she represented him when she tried to entrap him into support. I think it was Ch. 7? Just one case and since, she has "confused" what a KFI commenter said about pot with what the Attorney General Jerry Brown said, to ram through her way.
The person who commented here that she is obsessed with reducing the power of everyone else except her boss and herself, hit the nail on the head.
If there's going to be an objective investigation of Antonio and councilmembers, it will have to come from the feds, Andre Birotte, or the Attorney General. People who didn't run and hire sr. staff with the explicit intent of partisan axes to grind with them, while supporting the political ambitions of fellow Republicans, with city dollars geared toward their agendas. Especially if they happen to be called Steve Cooley.
I am moving one mile down the street to defeat the Al Bundy of local politics.
Tom La Bonge was a football star at Marshall High School decades ago...in case he didn't tell you already.
Vote Jennerjahn for CD 4.
