Apparently up until now the City of Los Angeles has been using budgets with fuzzy dollar amounts. Following the City upholding Mayor Villaraigosa's veto of the City budget City Council President Eric Garcetti stated that the "days of budgets with hypothetical numbers are over." Huh? However expect lots more cuts and layoffs ahead.
Kerry Cavanaugh of the Daily News analyzes the City of LA's boycott against Arizona over their immigration law and comes to the conclusion that the impact will be felt more by LA than Arizona. Of all the contracts that can be legally and/or practically cancelled the dollar value amounts to less than $5 million. However the expense to replace those contracts could run into several millions of dollars. As well, the makers of Taser equipment used by the LAPD is based in Arizona. No other company makes a similar product. The LAPD has warned of severe public safety ramifications if those contracts were cancelled.
Following a controversy over accepting thousands of dollars in free event tickets and gifts Mayor Villaraigosa has offered to pay back the costs of those items if the Ethics Commission finds wrongdoing. Why not just pay for them to begin with like the rest of us do?
The Sunday before an election most candidates are out walking preincts, meeting folks and calling voters. But not vanity candidates like Congressional hopeful Phil Jennerjahn. Phil spent his Sunday working on his golf game and opining on state ballot measures.

Jennerjahn says he is in Arizona seeking support for the recall, but he doesn't indicate why he's trying to sell it in Arizona, rather than here, WHERE THE SIGNATURES ARE NEEDED!!!!

I took a day off to play golf because I am confident about my chances on Tuesday.
1) I have a good, solid statement in the Voter Guide, the one that voters often take to the polls with them.
2) I have a better looking website than my opponents. Mine was done by a professional, my opponents look like they did a "do it yourself" type thing.
3) Google all three candidates. My opponents have almost no information available on them except their own websites.
4) My opponents don't even have videos on YouTube. (Someone might want to clue them in that we live in a digital age!)
5) Thousands of Angelenos have clicked on to the Recall website and are aware of my efforts to Recall Villaraigosa. I believe they will be appreciative of that.
6) Andion is too busy working as an attorney to campaign. Crowley has time to campaign, but he lost the same district badly in 2008.
7) Many of the votes have already been cast in vote by mail. I have received a bunch of emails from people who already voted for me.
8) I am confident that I will win on Tuesday.
9) You, Barrett and Cummins may need to seek counseling after I win my election.
10) Oh yeah.. JENNERJAHN for Congress!! (because Karen Bass is a Socialist)

Oddly, there is not a single mention of Phil Jennerjahn in it! What gives, Phil? Aren't you the leading Republican, as you frequently label yourself when not referring to yourself in the third person?
How can there be an article about various republican campaigns and your name doesn't appear once? Could it be that you're putting in zero effort? Could it be that "NOONE" in the media respects you, even though they give plenty of coverage to other Republicans?

You and I have spoken numerous times at city council, and I have to dispassionately say that you seem like an okay guy in person, but online, you conduct yourself like a genuine baby.
It's really an embarrassment to see how you act online. Is that the real you? Did you really just wrote "Oh yeah, Jennerjahn for Congress?"
Is that your way of presenting yourself to people who don't know you? "Oh yeah?" Do you think that builds confidence? Or do you admit that it is a truly childish way to behave?
I too am puzzled why you feel the golf couldn't wait ONE DAY. It sends the wrong impression to people that that's how you'd behave when there is important business to do in D.C. I don't want MY Congressman goofing off like that the day before a big day.

Why should Angelenos support the LACK of LEADERSHIP Los Angeles City Council and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power Mayor’s decision to increase DWP rates, including trash fees, parking meter fees, traffic citation fees, dog license fees, etc, and continue to provide less services to their constituents. This does not include LA County, State and Federal increases.
The individuals who complain the most are the same people who continue to vote for the LACK of LEADERSHIP, including the career politicians like Villaraigosa, Alarcon, Cardenas, Koretz, Wesson, Krekorian, politicians into office.
Start the NO vote campaign against Lt. Gov. Candidate Janice Hahn on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 or STOP complaining.

I stupidly donated money to the recall because phil said that it was tax deductible, but it's not. So anyone who is looking for a tax deduction in exchange for their donation, you're not gonna get it.
