"Phoenix Rising" Rally Draws Few

A planned rally held today at the Arizona state capitol in Phoenix to support Arizona's controversial SB1070 immigration enforcement law, and organized by Pennsylvania based Voice of the People USA, drew less than a 1000 supporters. Organizers had hoped for 10-15,000. The event was also sponsored by Team America PAC, DiggersRealm.com and Tea Party Nation.

Some blamed the 107 degree heat for the low turnout.

Scheduled speakers included Sheriff Joe Arpaio, AZ State Senator Russel Pearce, and former Republican Congressman Tom Tancredo.

A rally held in opposition to SB1070 back on May 29th drew more than 20,000 protesters.

There are also unconfirmed reports that Recall LA City Hall organizer David Hernandez was seen wandering around during the rally seeking spare change to fund the Recall efforts back in Los Angeles.

Phil Jennerjahn was not at the rally begging for money, nor was he out gathering signatures for the recall. He wasn't even campaigning for his Congress with the election coming up on Tuesday. Where was he, you ask? On his Facebook page, he said he was going to Anaheim for a birthday party for someone he has never met.

Joe B,

You're forgetting one thing.

The Mexicans are here ILLEGALLY.

We live by our laws, and those who want to be a part of it had better learn that if they want in, they cannot cheat the system, they cannot cheat the others who are waiting in line.

And if they want to make the most of their time here, they had better learn English and assimilate. That's why so many Mexicans here fail. They want to come here for the better life, and then ask for a handout from the County welfare system. Why? Because they claim that they can't work, because they can't speak English.

Speak English!

To my bloggin friend Joe B.

By: ABC15.com staff, wire reports
PHOENIX - On Saturday, nearly 2,000 people gathered from around the country at the Arizona State Capitol in support of Arizona's new immigration law.

"It's a grassroots effort that really took off," Daniel Smeriglio, one of the people behind the march said Friday.

Since Senate Bill 1070 passed in late April, protests and marches have been almost a daily occurance.

The law requires that police conducting traffic stops or questioning people about possible legal violations ask them about their immigration status if there is "reasonable suspicion" that they're in the country illegally.

Hundreds of motorcycle riders kicked off the downtown Phoenix rally off around by riding in a procession around the Capitol. Supporters waved American flags and some carried signs that read "What part of illegal don't they understand?"

"Arizona is doing what America should be doing," said John Anderson who came from Illinois for the event.

2,000 = a few ?

Is that LAUSD Math?

That local news outlet is the only one I've seen reporting 2000. Still far short of the 10-15,000 expected. And now a count from the teabaggers, using teabagger math;

Did Ed Reyes and Janice Hahn show up?

Did anyone see the Janice Hahn commercial saying she is not a career politican? That was really funny. Now, she is trying to be a socker mom? She really does have a screw loose somewhere.

The 20,000 were illegals while the supporters of 1070 have to work for a living. Probably to help pay for the services that the illegals use.Kind a lost after Home Depot eh' Joe? You Lookin' for a new cause?

-No, they were mostly legals. Many had traveled from around the country to be there. And how many people work on a Saturday anyways? Enough to make this rally a dismal failure?
