Betty Pleasant Fibs?
We reported Thursday that always classy "journalist" Betty Pleasant is still continuing her jihad against Council Member Bernard Parks. What Parks did or didn't do that has Betty with her panties in a bunch I have no idea.
Betty "reported" in her "newspaper," The Wave that District Attorney Steve Cooley was investigating the residence of Parks and claiming that the Councilman does not live in the District he represents.
We did a little digging of our own and found the following. First off Pleasant's report sounds an awful lot like this press release from Parks' former County Supervisor race opponent Mark Ridley Thomas, right down to the phrase that Parks voted last June despite allegedly not being eligible to vote at his address "presumably for himself."
Next we spoke to insiders who have told us that the District Attorney's Public Corruption Division is conducting no investigation and that only the DA is reviewing a letter of complaint that was submitted (presumably from Pleasant or an associate) as is their practice with all complaints.
The complainant has received an acknowledgement letter from the DA's office; apparently these are the "documents" Pleasant claims to have in her possession.
If anything changes at the DA's office but it looks like Betty once again was, well, wrong.

I hate to tell you this Higby, but YOUR blog also echoed the same story a week ago. I don't remember any hint that you questioned its veracity. It was probably don't by that illiterate you've got on staff.

It is extremely IRONIC that Mayor Sam's blog is challenging the accuracy of a report in a media outlet.
Mayor Sam's isn't just the "Home of Los Angeles Politics," it's the home of vicious attacks, total lies, and slanderous comments.
WHERE DO YOU GET THE NERVE TO TALK ABOUT THE ACCURACY OF OTHER SOURCES? LOOK IN THE MIRROR.
Or do you admit that, when it comes to accuracy, this blog has a long way to go, too.

It's a beautiful sunny day. In order to get attention, is Phil Jennerjahn walking around in a trenchcoat and umbrella? Like when he wore sunglasses on a cloudy, rainy day at city hall.
It's Monday.
Screw you Phil, for wasting time when you constantly lie to us about the recall.

Phil Jennerjahn's stupid comment of the day:
"As a Conservative, I always support freedom"
EXCEPT WHEN IT COMES TO LEGAL VOTES. THEN, PHIL JENNERJAHN WANTS TO CURB YOUR FREEDOM AND UNDO THE LEGAL VOTE. I HATE ANTONIO VILLARAIGOSA, BUT PHIL IS A HYPOCRITE AND LIAR. HE DOESN'T BELIEVE IN FREEDOM OF A LEGAL VOTE.

Damn, I thought that was the Getty residence.

Is the DA allowed to say whether or not they're investigating such charges? Whether they're investigating or not, who cares? The truth and facts will determine the outcome.

Whoever said the Wave and Mayor Sam were media outlets? I thought they were agitprop rags?
But seriously Betty is off base here. Dave Demerjian of the DA's office told our source that there is no investigation going on. They have to acknowledge the complaint (as they did in the letter faxed) and review if they're going to investigate it.
Betty thinks she's smart here but she's just on a tear against Parks, who is one of the few reasonable Council members we have.
Parks was smart enough to buy a few homes over the years. He is registered where he actually lives. The house that Ugly Betty is claiming he lives at is actually occupied by one of his children.
Next?

This DA has been so political lately and with running for attorney general, picking his battles accordingly, having twisted arms to get that Trutanich to run and be his tool at the city level including against Rocky, that he can't be objective and may have to back off.
They seemed to have thought Rocky would be more of a threat to the Attorney General ambitions, wanted dirt on his workers comp and other stuff, supported Laura Chick and Wendy's right to audit THAT only, but Trutanich immediately backed off letting the controller audit HIS office otherwise.
With Ron Kaye and other biased types urging Cooley on, it only emphasizes the partisan nature of his targets. Also Parks is not a liberal Democrat, he's not the kind that Cooley wants to go after. He's a relatively conservative black guy, a former Chief of police, and rich, raking in that half million $ in pensions.

To the asshole who posted at 8:24 am. If you can't even state your name but still make wild accusations. Thats pretty lame. Perhaps your fond of that filthy beast rag paper woman. She has an agenda and obviously isn't a reputable reporter.

I think you're such a racist some times Higby that I'm puzzled that you havent yet used the "N" word.
Admit it. You think the "N" word all the time when you think of blacks. Even when it's just a "house" negro.
Michael Higby said:
yea I'm a racist for defending a black guy!
Oh, Betty are you calling Parks a House Negro now???
Michael Higby said:
By the way I have family members who are black so shut the fuck up.

451 is Higby's last second comment. Yeah, like you just remembered that.
Having a black family member still doesn't make you a non-racist. Your family members married a negro, but YOU didn't. You can still be a racist and judging by your blog, you've got plenty of hatred from the blacks, browns and Jews. You sure have a hardon for your girlfriend Kirkorian.

Let me get this right, Higby.
A cousin, sibling or some FAMILY member married a black, so THEREFORE, you're not the racist you so often appear to be?
Make that connection for me, because something's missing. How does a family member's marriage make you not a racist or someone with strong racial insensitivity?

Higby said "So shut the fuck up."
It seems youre a bit testy about the racist accusations Higby. But this is fruit that YOU cultivated by your barely veiled racism and/or race baiting tendencies.
The fact that you THINK that because a family member is black is somehow demonstrative that youre not a racist is very telling. YOU had nothing to do with that person being in your family. Did you? So how does that make you a non-racist.
And when I say "racist," it does't mean that I think you burn crosses on the lawns of blacks, because your true feelings are engendered in the things youve personally written here AND the things youve ALLOWED to be published here.
Truth hurts. And it shows in this vulgar comment you made, erroneously thinking that a black family member erases the memory of all youve wrought on this blog.

Racist, when someone calls you a racist, you have to dig down in your heart, mind, and your intellectual sense. I was call a racist, and it hit me, and I question myself, am I racist? it was not overnight, it took some time to assure myself that I was not racist, and I still examine my decisions, and look back at times that I perceived someone to be bad influence on my granddaughter because of his Gang tattoos and his dress style, yet, after getting to know him as a coach, and a family men, I was totally wrong, he was the best coach in the playground, he was positive ,proactive, and the children were happy and loved to play the game, looked up to their coach for guidance with respect. He never used inadequate language, or yelled at the children like other coaches, it was always a high five for each child. The team with the least experience players, most had never played baseball before, and they were the youngest kids, they got the championship that season. Don't judge people for what they look like but who they are as people.

Interesting that so many politicians are accused of not living in their district. I often wonder, there is a difference between your legal address, and a second address you also live at, but not registered as your legal address. What is the requirement that you must have your legal address in the district? or just live in the district?
