Higby normally i think you're an ass, but this made my day. This was supposed to be PHil's big coming out day. And he can't catch a break due to his utterly stupid scheduling and lack of planning. KNBC gave credit to Walter. The news is interviewing David. And Phil can't catch a cold, let alone attention for "his" project.
It looks like Walter & David are easing Phil out of the limelight. This is often referred to as "damage control".

I am not saying this harshly about Mayor Sam, but Higby plucked Phil outta nowhere because he needed content for the blog, and he chose a dopey fool to do it.
Ultimately, he put Phil out there and we devoured him. It gave dopey Phil a sense of confidence, and the inability to realize that we were laughing AT him, rather than with him.
So all of Phil's failures is tied to Higby because I think Higby found a rube to create content and ultimately set Phil up to make a gigantic ass of himself time and time again, from his last place finish, to this spectacular failure right out of the gate today.
I don't mean to be mean about this, but that's how I see it. Higby used Phil, and Phil can't realize that he was used severely by this blog.
That said, Phil's flopping and floundering is hilarious entertainment, so I can't say that I'm not highly amused by this. In that respect, THANKS HIGBY!

Channel 9 just had Ron Kaye, David and Agosto somebody talking about the recall, but i didn't see walter or phil.

Anyway, yeah, I think the fall out of Phil's failure to plan, and being nudged aside by the likes of Agosto whatever his name is, is going to be a lot of fun.
Since Phil ruined the chance for someone else to do the recall, I hope you all hold him accountable to give us updates on how many volunteers and sigs he's getting. hold his feet to the fire for blowing this opportunity!

No, this was the beginning of the recall. Involving the pot shops was probably his girlfriend's idea.
They need to attract the Pot-loving Libertarians.

The RECALL has begun. First day update
Well, I have to be honest. The day did not start out well. Our press conference on the South lawn of City Hall was not that great. Few people showed up. Hell, I think there were more police there to keep an eye on us than we had supporters. It was a setback that I hadn't planned on. I thought there would be at least 50 people there.
There was clearly no use for the bullhorn we brought with us. No speeches were made.
But the videographer did let us do a little mini-commercial right there next to City Hall.
And Rick Orlov of the Daily News, he came all the way down those big stairs on the south side to interview us even though he was using a cane to get around. God bless him.
Afterwards we went into Council chambers for the City Council meeting and Walter Moore spoke very defiantly about the Recall and signed his petition right at the podium. Nice bit of theater there.
David Hernandez was very polite. Then I got up and lambasted the Council for being "corrupt and morally bankrupt". Not that many people in attendance at Council, either. The funniest moment was when a character named John Walsh said something like "you know the world has gone crazy when I am the voice of reason".
It was really funny because Walsh is a bit odd.
I was feeling a bit depressed as I walked out of City Hall, but then I checked my phone... 48 emails in one hour? WHAT!??
Evidently, Rick Orlov had filed the story from City Hall. It was on the Daily News website.
And the story listed our website, www.recallcityhall.org
We were getting tons of internet traffic. The emails and phone calls started blowing up.
Then, later on, David Hernandez did a nice 5 minute segment on the Recall on Channel 9 at 9 p.m.
It was the lead story. Bingo. Great kickoff to the Recall.
They repeated the segment partially at 10 p.m. More attention.
Now the other stations will have to pick up the story.
From this press will come more and more people willing to join the fight.
Things are looking good.
In addition to the days political events, I see that unfortunately , the writers at the Mayor Sam blog have nothing better to do than to criticize my efforts. But that is nothing new - or notable - there. I have to listen to Zuma Dogg and stay clear of the "dark energy" that is created by the haters who dominate that blog. The Michael Higbys, The Joe Barretts, the Mary Cummins of the world all collected there. Dark energy.
You never see Joe Barrett or anything he does being listed as the top story on Channel 9 news.

Today's results;
10 signatures gathered (pending validation).
Tomorrow, Walter Moore & David Hernandez will need to gather 2000 signatures plus the 1990 they failed to gather today.
3990 valid signatures need to be gathered tomorrow to keep this Recall effort on track.
The negative posts here are juvenile and ridiculous. It would be great for our city to recall the mayor, he is self serving and corrupt. Your criticisms are pathetic, you all are making asses out of yourselves. Get a life for once. Don't you have something better and more productive to do? If not, why don't you get off your asses and collect signatures to help make this recall a success? Try it, you will see doing something productive is so much more rewarding than posting snarky remarks.

I heard the news speak about the mayor's speech and then there was one line only that said, "When asked about the campaign to recall, the mayor just laughed and said there would always be someone to disagree with him". That's the real way that the majority of the city feel.
How could anyone be happy with the this mayor, especially considering the budget crisis?! Anonymous, please name 5 positive, beneficial and productive things he has accomplished for the city, for the citizens and for the businesses of this city.
