Daryl Gates, 83
From the LA Times
Daryl F. Gates, the rookie cop who rose from driver for a legendary chief to become chief himself, leading the Los Angeles Police Department during a turbulent 14-year period that found him struggling to keep pace with a city undergoing dramatic racial and ethnic changes, has died, the LAPD announced Friday. He was 83.

A great man. May he rest in peace.

Zine had to launch into how Gates came to testify on the original intent of SO40, to grandstand for himself and Trutanich's opposing Chief Bratton's and now Beck's position on that. (Zine and Trutanich made a huge PR ploy of showing up with those a.m. ranters James and McIntyre to use it as a campaign issue, even dragging down Mrs. Balogna from San Francisco whose family was gunned down by illegals up there - even THOUGH the Shaw murderer was released from County jail by their sponsor Cooley and by Sheriff Baca's team.)
To use a man's death to grandstand for yourself, even when like in a case like this your "case" is built on sheer demagogery, shows a sickening lack of character. On top of intentionally confusing the public about jurisdiction of county DA and Sheriff, with the local city Chief of Police and the mayor and the Democrats. An "I'm a reserve office, former head of the Police Political League, BFF of Paul Weber and Don Novey" councilmember like Zine, and top lawyer candidate who intentionally do this are either so ignorant of the law they need to go back to night school OR are just willing to "say and do anything to get elected," to quote Laura Chick.
Zine must not become Controller as he's now planning. (Can you imagine Perry mayor and him, Controller?)
"I question everything and everyone" was his claim. EXCEPT when shilling for fellow Republicans Cooley, Knabe or Antonovich, Weber and of course, Tritanich. In fact, they want him in to extend their reach to the city Controller, just like Cooley is using his Puppet Tritanich as his tool on medical marijuana for his run for Attorney General, on finding dirt on Democrats, especially his potential rival Rocky, etc. -- Rocky was awful but let Cooley find his OWN dirt.
Republican op John Thomas who ran these other Republicans and planned to push Zine through as their other tool, with the help of the Slimes' Newton/Green and David Z, is clearly worried after the loss in the 43rd to Gatto. He's even tried to DISTANCE himself now from the Times editorial board, eliciting their bizarre editorial.
Zine-Tritanich-Palin, the Limbaugh clones, must be stopped. (Cooley is wiley running as more moderate than his Republican opponent and pretending he's been wanting to be out of the spotlight, but he's the handler behind Tritanich and Zine's potential sponsor, too.)

Walter Moore (who clowned us when he said he was moving to France) has crawled out of his nativist hole and is trying to co-opt the Reform LA effort.
Mayor Sam we are asking for your help because a few of the bullies in SLAP are Walter Moore cronies (mostly they hate Mexicans) and we can't speak up. Ron Kaye is too nice to get in the midle.
Please help or its another circus with Phil Jenningjan, Walter Moore, Zuma Dogg and that awful Rita from Sunland lady. It will allow Villaraigosa to portray us as crazy, racist teabaggers.

How do you expect me to assist you?
I've made it clear my view of Phil's and Walter's history/activitie. You may borrow from that.
I won't be at that meeting but if you are then speak up and don't be afraid. Though he is a wonderful guy, I've also never known Ron Kaye to be "too nice" to not speak up as to what is right or wrong.
Zuma Dogg, well he is Zuma Dogg and though some folks have issues with him (as do I with some of his actions) no one knows more about the City and he wouldn't be a bad advisor. Certainly far more informed that Walter or Phil.
Rita, well Rita is a hoot and she's harmless. I'm not sure what her role is but you don't have to be afraid of her.
I do think Ron is on the right track id'ing and developing candidates. Far more effective than Walter and Phil's dumb recall.

Didn't the present mayor disregard the Christopher Commission's recommendations by using Bratton as a pawn in political campaign commercials?

I for one, won't get involved with SLAP because they are Mexican haters and I can't stand it. They are not to be given any credit. The tea baggers infiltrated you all. Sorry, truth hurts. Now, you won't have any credibility with the City.
Keep on hating your way to Cantgetathingdonesville.
