This is a stunner, as Louis was considered to be a formidable candidate. He is admired and respected throughout CD2.

REVISED CERTIFIED LIST OF CANDIDATES RELEASED AFTER CANDIDATE WITHDRAWS FROM COUNCIL DISTRICT 2 RACE
Los Angeles City Clerk June Lagmay released a revised Certified List of Candidates late Thursday afternoon after a candidate walked in to withdraw his name from the ballot for the 2009 Council District 2 Special Election. All candidates had until 5:00 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009 to withdraw their name from the ballot (emphasis mine-Joe B). The revised certified list contains a total of 10 candidate names all of whom will appear on the September 22, 2009 ballot.

Red Spot, please do not make us endure all the carpetbagging comments. Can you please simply tell us who you support, or the list you are considering? I am not just going to vote for someone because they went to high school in the area. That's not enough in this day and age. Who would you most like to see in the position? Can you answer that?

Not if Tamar makes nice to him. Both she and the mayor threw him under the bus in the school baord race after he got her elected with his endorsement 2 years ago. Looks like time for Tamar to kiss up.

Louis will endorse Tamar, you just watch!
I was supporting Louis.
Now ?? I have to judge the home grown candidates.
Looks like the deal was made. Louis drops out and throws support to Tamar and then she supports him for LAUSD seat when she wins. Looks like Louis thinks Tamar can win with his support. But of course it's so he can get her LAUSD board seat.
So far I've only heard one candidate speak to the issues where you can see the passion and expertise and it isn't PK or CE.
Watch the money!

If it means stopping Dr. Krekorian, I will vote for the Mayor's puppet candidate, Tamar Galatzan.
Louis is better suited to LAUSD anyway. Good move!
Louisd will support David Saltsburg; the serious candidate with no home.
Maybe this just proves that your ability to determine who is a formidable candidate is flawed.

Maybe Krikorian can sweep up his votes with that 17% approval rating he and his colleagues share. Gosh, I would want to run for another seat, someplace else, too if I only had a 17% approval rating in my current job.
Hopefully he'll bring some of those lame-brained ideas they just passed in Sacto into the city of L.A.

The CD 2 race already feels like a game of musical chairs. One thing I know so far is I'm not supporting Essel or Tamar. No way Antonio Jose!
I read up on Kirkorian and I think he's pretty well suited for the job. As for the others the jury is still out.

Do you really think anyone who already has a deal cut with Paul Krekorian is going to be suckered by him. "Hi, I'm Paul Krekorian.
As Assemblymember, I just helped spend the State into bankruptcy. Now, I'm asking for your vote so I can bring the same panache to CD Whatever it's called.
And as for money, that's no problem. I am a viable candidate. A lot of people have donated to my campaign. SOME OF THEM MAY HAVE JUST BEEN INDICTED ON FEDERAL CHARGES ACCORDING TO L.A. TIMES, but most people will never check the ethics website against the names in the article, so no one will ever know.

Five people have been arrested in alleged schemes to block the deportation of illegal immigrants convicted of murder and other serious crimes, federal immigration officials announced Tuesday.
"It's a great scheme," said Jennifer Silliman, deputy special agent in charge of the immigration agency's Los Angeles office. "You have got these career criminals, many of whom are violent, circumventing the system and essentially buying themselves a place in the United States."
All five appeared in court Tuesday afternoon to face federal charges of obstructing immigration proceedings.
"These defendants endangered the safety and security of United States residents," U.S. Atty. Thomas P. O'Brien said in a statement.

Louis is not a sell out, and nobody got to him. I helped with both of his campaigns and I am a good friend. There were many factors in his decision to withdraw. Don't expect a quick endorsement of anyone else.
I wish him the best.
You gotta admit one thing about zuma dogg. The media attention falls in his lap.

I the "contacts" a marijuana reference as in "contact high" because Frank is a pro-medical marijuana activist and long-time collective owner? Ha ha! Maybe Frank Sheftel needs to become councilmember to try and keep all those marijuana shops in his district open. The big Marijuana magazine with all the ads for all the co-ops are running a front page spread on Frank and his CD 2 candidacy.
