Pigs Fly! Whoopi and Rush Limbaugh Agree!
No big fan of Rush and his racism - another day I'll talk about why the Republicans need to shitcan him but Whoopi is 100% in this piece.

Mike, you've been letting fly the "racist" label a lot lately, and I think that is a mistake, and beneath you. You have always been a voice of reason on this blog, and with a good sense of what is right and wrong, and what the "silent majority" of Americans believe in.
It's unfair to call someone "racist" because they question our illegal immigration policies. It's unfair to call someone racist because they criticize a President who happens to be half-black.
Such an onerous label is a form of censorship. If the message becomes, "don't tackle sensitive issues that might involve race" (e.g., illegal immigration), then the debate suffers and so does the political dialogue.
Please, no more "racist" labels.

This has nothing to do with illegal immigration.
Check out Rush's Stephen Fetchitesque rant in this piece. Why does he have to do a mock African-American accent when talking about government programs? Aren't Republicans better than that.
Its one thing to call for immigration reform, to support Jamiel's Law, to advocate for employer sanctions.
It's another thing to do like Walter Moore did and rail against taquerias, novelas and pushing one for English. That has no place in the dialogue, it's racially tinged and it will not advance the movement.
The Republicans have to get away from their nativist, anti-Latino and anti-gay verbiage if they want to get ahead.
They're about to lose me. For sure, there is no way in hell I can embrace the socialism of the Democratic party but the lack of respect for true diversity (not the bullshit stuff Villaraigosa talks about) by some conservatives simply has to come to an end.
Had Walter Moore got that message he could have won and I might have been able to vote for him.
Rush may not hate non-whites personally but for years he's engaged in racist comedy.
And please - I've criticized Obama plenty.

If a liberal like Whoopi recognizes this, then Obama should watch out.
A tax revolt is brewing--look at the rally in Fullerton.
This isn't the late 70's with 3 TV networks and monopoly newspapers in every city. Word gets around fast, and the liberal media can't censor it.
Finally people are waking up to this guy's radical economic agenda.

Eh, no, not "Stephen Fetchitesque," that would be a slow drawl, more like a Nick Stewartesque Lightnin'. Rush unfortunately (and probably unconsciously) slipped into a Tim Mooreesque Kingfish impression. Even though it was a mildly offensive, it did veer into racial stereotype and more racist than the amos and Andy show.

I've never watched The View, but you can bet I'm going to TIVO it tomorrow so that I can hear Whoopi's response and I bet Limbaugh will get an earful.

Has anyone noticed that Higby looks like Rush Limbaugh? They could be cousins!
As for being racist, at least Rush doesn't try to channel the racist old mayor of los angeles to make his living.
Look in the mirror mayor sam. You named your blog after one of the biggest bigots the city has ever elected to office. Your hero is how we ended up with Tom Bradley.
There's no doubt that you hate minorities.

Could please define what being "anti-Latino" means? After all I get this all the time just for wanting a secure border, the ejection of foreign nationals illegally residing and employed in this country, and asking that any person that wants to receive U.S. government benefits be a legal resident or citizen of the United States. Not only am I "anti-Latino" for wanting these changes, but I am considered a traitor for having these thoughts.
Michael Higby said:
XJW - if you're for closed borders, immigration reform, no benefits for illegals and employer sanctions I don't see that as anti-Latino.
Unfortunately folks like Walter Moore couple that with rhetoric about getting rid of taco stands, eliminating Spanish TV and bitching about pushing 1 for English.
Those items are unnecessary to immigration reform and are divisive. It might piss you off but railing about them will not advance the more important issues.
It's just like we Repugs have to give up hating on the gays if we want to get tax cuts.

By the way, no fan of either Rush or Whoopi.

I'M OF LATIN HERITAGE AND I'M FOR CLAMPING DOWN ON ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION THESE PEOPLE ARE IMPORTING THE SAME THINKING THAT HAS BROUGHT DRUG CARTELS TO THE MEXICAN GOVERNMENT. WHICH IS SPILLING INTO THIS COUNTRY. LA RAZA IS WORKING TO LOBBY FOR LATIN ATTORNEYS ON THE SUPREME COURT. SEE "ONE ON ONE" ON PBS. HERE THE PLOT. THERE ALSO USING THERE NUMBERS TO REMOVE ALL NON-LATIN REPRSENTATIVES FROM OFFICE. KEEP IN MIND THERE SLOGAN "MY PEOPLE" THEY USE IT LIKE A MEXICAN FLAG TO SEPARATE THEM FROM REAL AMERICANS. WE ARE GOING TOHAVE A CIVIL WAR WHEN THESE ALL COMES TO PASS. NANCY PELOSI THINKS THERE HER FRIENDS, THERE GOING TO GET RID OF HER TOO.

The problem with Mr. Moore is that his grass roots supporters were the Save Our State/Minutemen types. He had to play to them in order to keep them from staying home. Hence the bigoted remarks about the encroachment of the south of the border culture.

You're statements are so correct. La Raza racists have a current love affair with self-loathing white lib-tards now, but their usefulness to La Raza-ists will come to an end quickly.

Michael, what's with the sudden affinity for PC-speak and "diversity." Are you trying to attract some traffic away from the Huffington Post?
