Jack Weiss Says He's Winning

The Jack Weiss for City Attorney must have spent a pretty penny on some masterful polling spin that says he'll best Carmen Trutanich in May's general election.

One of the best lines is that Weiss thinks that Trutanich is not qualified to be City Attorney because he "supports Republican and conservative causes and candidates."

Well, sorry Jacko, last I checked Obama hasn't yet followed up on Markos Moulitsas' call to make being a Reublican illegal.  LA is replete with Democrats for sure but many of them hold conservative views and there is still a good chunk of Republicans and other folks like me who find ourselves in the libertarian (with a small l) camp.

The bottom line is that many people would vote for Attila the Hun over you for City Attorney because they find you arrogant, deceitful and contemptous of the people. For corn sake Jack when 20,000 people in the 5th District take enough time away from sipping lattes to sign a recall petiton and the overwhelming majority of your own District votes against you its apparent you have real issues, or quite frankly that you're one major asshole.

Therefore be it resolved that we now know for certain that Antonio Villaraiogsa and Wendy Greuel will have their hands on 2/3 of the store many are very motivated to make sure you're not the watchdog.

Remember Measure B?

Speaking of Greuesome in her campaign commercial she mentioned $10 MILLION Business tax money hasn't been collected. Isn't it the job of the City Controller to go after that money??? $10 MILLION.

Jack is dreaming, never going to happen. Chick N Shit needs to do an audit of all the non profits that gave money to support Measure B. It is our tax dollars and we have a right to know which non profits did so and how much

Are Sara Michelle Spinoza and Jack Weiss the same person?

They both make up stats out of thin air.

What a coincidence that her last name, if it's real, is SPINoza.

I'm not a Weissian but in fairness if you bothered to actually give a truthful report on the poll, it says he's ahead across party lines, while Trutanich represents rightwing views like union-busting, he wrote a manual on how to help toxic polluters get away with their crimes, etc.

Sounds to me like his PR spin last time around was just not checked out and once people learn what he really has done and stands for his favorables go way down not up.

Weiss is also way ahead in his own CD5, once you factor out the group that has their own issues and makes unverified claims about some 20,000 signatures. I'm not Jewish but most of my neighbors are and I've never heard the negatives you claim are so universal, in fact, he's their local favorite while Trutanich's views are everything they oppose.

Maybe if you look at Walter Moore's supporters (Berger says they and Trutanich see eye to eye) he has a base, but that's it. I'd never vote for Trutanich because of his total lack of record of public service, being on the wrong side of every issue and because he actually dislikes the westside, metro L A in general, and everything their "liberalism" represents.

Poor Jack. Nobody who ran in his old Council district wanted an endorsement from him. But then again, nobody wanted one from the Mayor either. He's going to have to smear way better than accusing Tru of Republicanity.

When they start collecting that business tax money forcefully, they will invite lawsuits galore because they billed so capriciously. The worst thing for the City would be to shine a light on the way it bills pink-collar independent contractors as small businesses...they'll get their ass kicked on that one.

Sounds tailor made for Rocky, in fact, to blow another big one.

Trutanich is the only person who has ever run for office in LA that I have ever felt positive about in the slightest. I really hope he wins.

Supporting "Republican and conservative causes and candidates" means he's not an elitist socialist like the rest of the LA City government. He's an actual Real American, the likes of which are dying in LA, or moving to neighboring cities where believing in the Constitution is still allowed. I hope to move outside the city limits before I am taxed to death, die from water rationing, or am murdered by an "undocumented migrant" gang member. But before I move outside the city limits, I hope my vote will help get Trutanich elected.

240, my ass you're not a Weissian.

For someone who "hasn't heard" the complaints about Weiss, you sure do seem to have done a lot of polling of your JEWISH neighbors.

And if you think "MOST" of your west side neighbors are Jewish, I guess you just don't know populous statistics. While there are a lot of Jews in the area, it's HARDLY more than half.

Lastly, you cannot "factor out" the 20,000 signatures, or 17,000, or whatever number it was. It's thousands of people who were willing to give their name, address and phone number to ouster Weiss.

You can discount it all you want on paper, but it's a paper that nobody will buy.

My ass you're not a "Weissian."

Neither am I.

Nice spin 2:22pm...or should I say Larry Levine. Not a Weissian? Give me a break. I'm sure Jack will get about the same amount of vote out of CD5 as your other candidate in CD5--last place finisher Robert Schwartz.

Apparently Weiss and his donor base were so freaked out by the Nuch poll, he paid his pollster for the memo, without actually doing the poll!!! Money is drying up for Weissy boy. So is his political career.

Weiss is everything that is wrong about politics.

The attempted recall showed that he didn't care about his voters. he won't even bother to talk to them. My emails to him were ignored along with most other voters.

He lacks a moral compass and will say or do anything to stay in power.

Weiss has no core principles and no integrity.

That's why I'm voting for Trutanich.

Once again you guys display the sophistication of a ZD in matters politic.

Who cares about the Republicans, the Jews and the haters and lovers in CD 5?

This race wil be decided by a very limited amount of voters, and the biggest single factor here will be the unions.

The unions will spend prodigious amounts of money and put feet on the street. In a low turnout election, better bet they will make a differece; let me revise - they will make THE difference.

Jack wins going away...

Sorry Higby, these are the facts.

2:40 I'd never vote for Trutanich because of his total lack of record of public service

Trutanich was a deputy district attorney for 10 years - I call that public service. But I won't hold my breath while you recant your pro-Weiss rant. The Weiss campaign is clearly reeling from the drubbing Weiss was dealt on March 3, and the once flowing campaign contributions have dried up. Now all they can do is post pro-Weiss drivel in the hope that someone might buy what he's selling.

Phil J, you are right, Weiss is everything that is wrong with the way our City is run. These entitled, arrogant career politicos need to be taught a lesson and Trutanich is just the man to do it.

And 8:24, the unions won't do much for Weiss now that Measure B is dead. When it comes down to it, Trutanich has a solid base who will turn up and vote, and I suspect that many if not most of those who voted for "anyone but Weiss" will do the same again.

Yes I am angry, not so old though! I'm angry that the City has been raped by self-interested politicians who care nothing for the people who elect them.

It's interesting to see the Weiss talking points being trotted out again - "Trutanich is a defense attorney so he's a bad guy." It's remarkable how desperate the Weiss camp is becoming. Logically, Weiss is condemning the 6th Amendment to the Constitution, but then again, we already know that when it comes to knowledge of the law, that was never a Weiss strong point.

After all, it was Jackass who brokered and supported the disastrous billboard settlement.

It was Jackass who tried to silence free speech in City Hall.

It was Jackass who condemned Prop 69 - mandatory DNA testing of arrested felons.

It was Jackass who didn't know that an EIR was needed for the Pico/Olympic one-way system. A traffic congestion problem that he caused by his unwavering support for over development.

It was Jackass who failed to return illegal campaign contributions in violation of City Charter section 470.

It was Jackass who did nothing about processing rape kits for 18 months, and then miraculously stumped up some flash cash to launch his campaign.

The Jackass supporters are seeing their hero go down in flames and trying to disguise his failings by taking cheap shots at the man who will be the next City Attorney, and all they can do is make personal attacks against him and those who believe that there's a better way to run the City that electing an inadequate career politician who is about to see his career come to a long overdue end.

Hit the road Jack!

Nuch is a corrupt phony who's done nothing good for anyone but lined his pockets the last couple decades, and I'm not voting for him because you and he and Walter are the same. Except Nuch is more corrupt than clueless Walter.

So keep talking it up Rumpole/ Berger, drumming up more votes against your hero. You attack anyone who doesn't support your redneck candidate and accuse them of working for the Weiss campaign, as though they'd be over here.

I'm just a moderate who sees what Trutanich is and loathes him, as would my friends and neighbors if they bothered to follow this election. The only thing that got him as far as he did was voter fatigue on behalf of the majority.

What brought you to America anyway? Didn't you tell McIntyre you just got a green card ten years ago, running from the "Pakis" over in Britain? So now you're obsessed with the Messicans and with that inane Jamiel's Law, wanting to turn our cops into the Gestapo, you are one scary dude.

Los Angeles is far too liberal and green is far too hot for anyone to let the likes of Truch get elected. Nobody is into having green matters put on the back burner. We have enough of those "environmental" attorneys who help the developers get around the environmental laws.

Weiss is into overdevelopment though. Maybe he will be different when he is the City Attorney.

But whoever you may think I am, I'm not.

I never say anything nice about you, because there is nothing nice to say.

You are an annnoyance, a time water, a pimple on an elephant's ass, and a fool who has no purpose in life who is looking for something to keep him from honest labor.

You have tried to create some persona with your stupid glasses and hat and odor that makes you feel "special".

Well, you're not. You're just another homeless vagrant (with a laptop)looking to live off the rest of us taxpayers and game the system, looking for handouts. You think free food at an affair is a big deal.

Go get a real life. Begging is really bad for the psyche.

Fact is Weiss screwed up with his alignment to the gang banger Mayor. Carmen has a lot of the same group that defeated Meaure B on his side. You get that group telling voters on the Westside at meetings the truth about Jack and you can call it a night. When those illegals march and the Mayor is right in front let's see how those voters in Weiss's area who are tired of the shit the illegals have brought to this city feel abot him. The people spoke on Measure B and they will speak against Weiss.

I think that Trutanich gets a lot of support by NOT being part of the VILLARAIGOSA club, like most of the City Council.

Putting JACK WEISS into that role would be asking for more trouble, as if VILLARAIGOSA was not enough all by himself. Jack would echo whatever policies and agendas come from Tony.

One other item on the negatives from the Weiss collection of bad moves was the ducking of that citizen meeting at his office the day he followed TONY to Westwood for a photo op of the "first diagonal cross-walk in the city." Wow. That's already old, done in Old Town Pasadena for years, which is probably where they got the inspiration.

But the real point is that JACK take cues from TONY and he knew the crowd was coming to visit from the radio show, and chose to make tracks and avoid any challenge on the Jamiel's Law motion stuck in the Public Safety Committee he chairs. He could have cut that loose after a couple of months, or even just one month, but he was probably told by "someone" to stall it as long as possible.

The release from his office that day was that the matter would come up for a "hearing" in October. That was more of a stall and it never amounted to any action, with Council never being forced to lay their cards on the table. Mission accomplished, Jack.

So there's your law and order guy, avoiding coming to grips with the conditions of the Shaw murder, even with so much of the public asking for it. He used the VILLARAIGOSA tactic of burying any action on things unpopular (in his view) and ignoring any reqeusts for discussions or confrontation that the control-oriented mayor taught him.

THERE'S YOUR CORRUPTION. Even if any criticism of Trutanich was accurate, it pales in comparison to all that WEISS HAS done and NOT done.

WEISS has only about 10 years of actual practice under his belt; not really a prime qualification for even a major player in the C.A.'s office, much less the Boss.

But for TONY'S endorsement (calling in all his followers, too), JACK would be dead in the water. A million dollars could not convince people to get a majority, even the Police Chief's endorsement.

The endorsement by Chief Bratton and his clear obligation to TONY for his job is more of a liability than a benefit- everyone knows he's saying what he's told to say.

The taxes on the State level will be bringing out way more voters to stop the madness. Whatever way that cuts, the truth is that WEISS as City Attorney would be, in the words of CM Dennis Zine, very accurately phrased, "a disaster for the city."
