BREAKING NEWS: Mayor Attempts to Censor Prop B Facts

The Mayor is dragging community activists and neighborhood council DWP Committee members to court today in an attempt to censor the facts associated with Prop B, the IBEW's $3.6 billion money-making March 3 ballot scam disguised as a "solar energy bond".

From Ron Kaye:

...Please be aware that the mayor's lawyer has dragged Jack Humphreville, me and others who sign the "No on Prop. B" ballot argument into to court today, challenging our statements. This is being done even as the L.A. Times reveals today that a critical report exposing this solar energy plan as costly and "extremely risky" was being kept secret from City Council members and the public even as the measure was being rushed to the ballot. The mayor's lawyer, Stephen Kaufman, representing Mitchell Schwarz of the League of Conservation Voters, is demanding opponents pay court costs and legal fees when we don't even have a lawyer. Stay tuned.

Opponents have called Measure B a backdoor mechanism to make voters sign off on a huge package of DWP rate increases. And they accused Garcetti and Miller of concealing the findings of the private analysts, P.A. Consulting Group.

"That's the problem with City Hall," said former DWP Commission President Nick Patsaouras, who opposes Measure B and is running for city controller. "They think the average taxpayer is not smart enough to tell them the truth."

Greuesome Wendy helped negoiate this back room deal. Shameful!!! This is how Antonio deals with regular people, he threatens then gets the big goons to intimindate them. Hey Mayor what about the LA Weekly article on the Secrecy of the $24 MILLION in gang program money that Villaraigosa is not allowing the names to be released. Where's Walter Moore?? Can anyone file a public document and get the people who Antonio is giving gang money to??

All city programs end up costing a hell of a lot more than originally guestimated. The reason for this is simple. If the city were honest and told people that'd it'd cost $100 billion to install solar power and they'd end up paying for it through increased power bills, they wouldn't vote for it. You have to sugar coat these things and say they'll only cost a few pennies. By the time the real bill comes along, they've already forgotten about the program. The city then says that it must increase taxes because of "unforeseen" costs. In the end solar power will be good but it's gonna cost a lot more than expected. Look how expensive it is just to add power to your house? Even with grants, cheap loans, incentives it's about $30,000 per home. A three unit building costs $150,000.

Mayors office had an RFP for what was bridges II hard core intervention, didn't get the responses it likes, so extended the deadline...by 3 days. "Someone" called and asked for more time and the mayor himself signed off on extending the deadline.

Follow the trail of who applied on time and who applied after the deadline.

And why is Mayor V killing off the Arts Education Branch in LAUSD?

Can you answer that one?

December 19, 2008 12:24 PM

12;24- Could you elaborate on that; the Mayor, aside from his 10 low-performing schools, has no direct participation in the LAUSD's operation.

The LAUSD has his operative, MONICA GARCIA, as the Board President. (And appointed her sister to East Area Planning Commission) so good terms must abound there. What did Tony do this time?

There was rfp for spay neuter clinics in the shelters. No one applied, so they offered them again. Two groups applied to do a few shelters but not all. So they changed the terms of the rfp and offered it again. Two of the seven clinics may have contracts but not the rest. There aren't that many people who want to work for the city. Lots of red tape and they will take the lowest bidder. People bid low, then come back and ask for more holding the construction hostage.

Congrats to Hilda Solis for her appointment. Despite having the same consultant as Antonio - with a monopoly on progressive candidates, who besides Skelton would she pick - Solis is a positive light on Latino politics in L.A.

But the real question _one probably deserving of it's own thread Higby - is why did Xavier Becerra turn down the cabinet post? My guess is to much Henry Lozano, his former chief of staff who is still on his payroll just like Polanco had his mistress ont he payroll.

Speaking of the lame ass Mayor there's an article in today's LA times how everyone should take the survey to help with the budget deficit. Problem is its a scam. Why of all programs do they have Summer Night Lights on there and the box is already checked off for you.Typical dirty, corrupt morons running city hall. Wake up people Summer Night Lights was a scam by Villaraigosa. Crime will go down if you put enough cops around an area and that's exactly why the program worked but Villaraigosa wants you to believe it was his doing and that idiot Jeff Carr who knows nothing about gangs.

In the face of arrest, banning, etc. he is still unable to control himself when there is a camera nearby.

We all know he has no sense; does anyone doubt that he will be arrested soon and banned?

He is an accident waiting to happen; I am sure his buddy Higby will be there to bail him out and keep promoting his lame campaign to be Mayor.

The cruelty of promoting this fool is beyond belief; Higby, why do you do it?

Shame, shame, shame.

The Mexican mafia spends every minute of the day and night plotting on how to screw the taxpayers! It's all too obvious!

Another thing...we should do what they do in Florida. The legislature is only in session six months out of the year!

Why in the f are we paying these crooks and liars to screw us??? Let's f them!!!!

Angelenos complain and continue to reelect these same lame ducks over and over which is why the politicos do as he/she pleases with no accountability to their constituents. Don’t be fooled by the colorful fliers and twenty second media sound bites during elections.

If Angelenos really want change, these Angelenos need to stay in tune with the facts by viewing or listing to City Council and Council Committee meetings that are readily available at the Los Angeles City Website. Follow the money trail prior, during, and after the elections by visiting the Ethics Commission and CA Secretary of State Websites, but most importantly at the end of the day, vote these LA Politicos out of office on March 3, 2009, General Election.

MORE Bad Publicity For Villaraigosa/Garcetti's MEASURE B (Solar Energy BONDoggle) by LA TIMES (And They Are Supposed to SUPPORT VIAGRAOSA!)
Council gets 'secret' solar panel report
The analysis, given earlier to some officials, warns that the DWP underestimated the costs of Measure B.

By David Zahniser
December 20, 2008

One day after The Times revealed that Los Angeles officials had secretly received a report warning that a solar power plan on the March 3 ballot was "extremely risky," the official who secured the analysis delivered it to the City Council.

In envelopes stamped "confidential," Chief Legislative Analyst Gerry Miller, the council's top policy advisor, distributed a copy of a Nov. 4 memo he wrote to Council President Eric Garcetti listing 13 warnings about the solar plan.

The measure, which calls for putting solar panels on rooftops and parking lots across the city, had been strongly supported by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

Foes of the proposal, known as Measure B, have criticized Miller and Garcetti for not making the analysis public. Both men countered that the information was informal and, in some cases, inaccurate. (HOW DOES GARSHADY KNOW IT WAS INACCURATE? AND WHO LEFT IT UP TO HIM TO BE THE SOLE JUDGE? WHO DOES THIS GUY THINK HE IS? BOY, ERIC SURE LIKES TO SILENCE THINGS...MORE THAN YOU KNOW. BUT THAT'S WHAT MONEY IS FOR!)

Nine council members said Friday that they did not receive the Nov. 4 analysis before they agreed to put the solar measure on the ballot. The analysis, issued three days before the vote, warned that the Department of Water and Power had underestimated the cost of the program, lacked the ability to carry it out and could saddle ratepayers with higher electricity bills.

"I really wish that I would have had the information," said Councilman Herb Wesson. "Now I'm not suggesting that it would have changed my support, or my level of support, but an extra question or two may have popped in my mind." [WHAT KIND OF B.S. REPLY IS THAT, HERB? DON'T FEEL TOO GOOD ABOUT A COUNCIL MEMBER (ESPECIALLY ONE WITH YOUR VOTING RECORD AND PERFORMANCE AS HOUSING CHAIR) THAT SAYS THEY ARE NOT SUGGESTING THEY WOULD HAVE CHANGED THEIR SUPPORT AFTER READING THE REPORT! I BET EVERYONE IN YOUR DISTRICT SURE AS HELL HOPES YOU WOULD CHANGE YOUR SUPPORT AFTER READING SOMETHING LIKE THAT!

Why don't you go evict some elderly women out of some project you converted in violation of the Charter, Herb. You're some swell guy! You've done so much good as Housing Chair. A real champion! Now don't lose your temper, Herb, over this, but would now be a good time to suggest you change your support after reading the report? (I'm almost starting to believe you are just some cold, heartless, politican who doesn't give a fuck about a gosh damn thing. It sure seems that way based on your jibber-jabber double-talk, as Housing Chair and Councilmember, Herb Wesson. And you know what...Zuma Dogg has had enough. See you in January!

You are charming and charasmatic as hell, in person, Herb. But when I think about what you have done in Committee and Chambers, it makes me sick to my stomach. I think Herb Wesson is an evil, evil man in all reality. Just look around. But he is adorable as hell! (Like his Assembly pals Fabian Nunez and Antonio Villaragiosa. Herb will tell you what a great guy Nunez is, and how he came up through politics with those two. SO HOW GOOD CAN HERB BE?)

YOU BETTER GET WITH A REAL FUCKING HOUSING PROGRAM HERB! I AM NOT GOING TO REMAIN SILENT AT PUBLIC COMMENT OVER THIS SHIT ANYMORE, HERB! WE'RE TALKING "FRONT BURNER" LIKE THE DAYS WHEN ZUMA DOGG WAS BLASTING ABOUT CONDO-CONVERSIONS IN VIOLATION OF VACANCY RATES!!! HOW DID THAT GO FOR YOU HERB! MY NEW YEARS RESLOUTION IS TO KEEP YOU HONEST, HERB. NONE OF THIS DOUBLE-TALK, DO NOTHING, THEN STAB EM IN THE BACK HARD BULLSHIT, HERB! CAPISHE! YOU FUCKED UP THE WHOLE CITY WITH YOUR PAL ANTONIO! WE'RE GONNA PULL THE PLUG ON YOUR HERB! YOU ARE OVER IN MY BOOK, HERB!

READ MORE ABOUT HOW VILLARAIGOSA CONTINUES TO PUSH AROUND THOSE PUPPET-CLOWN COUNCIL MEMBERS INTO MORE STUFF LIKE THIS AND THINK THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH IT.

I think Villarigosa is going to end up being run out of town and forced to quickly hops on a plane to Dubai outta here.

Geez Herb, you should be shaking in your boots!!!

I mean, you are OVER in Zuma Mutt's book!!

Most guys would read the tea leaves and know their career is just about ended, and take the right course, which is to throw yourself down and beg forgiveness from "He Who Knows Nothing and Means Nothing".

Without Zuma's support, you could never have been elected to the Assembly, never been elected Speaker and never elected to the City Council.

And now, Herb, it's over. You are toast. You might as well resign and live off Fabian's earnings.

Woe is you. You are on Zuma's list.

So, when he becomes Mayor, you will know what real suffering is about. repent now and do what he says. Read that jerk Deming he is always quoting and follow the good book.

P.S. Could you hit the PayPal button for Zuma and give him enough money to take a bus down to City Hall so he can diss you?

December 21, 2008 1:02 PM

Julie Korenstein shouldn't even run for dogcatcher let alone Council, are you out of your mind? She's been battling charters tooth and nail her entire tenure, and still can't let a meeting go without doing everything she can against them.

There are 4 vacant schools in the west valley, which charters want since there are too few spaces at existing schools for the LAUSD to comply with a longstanding court order to share existing space. (Or so Korenstein and her ilk say.)

All the other members criticized her for this, and Galatzan was very good, saying if charters and magnets are what it will take to bring the middle class back, then the LAUSD should provide them.

What a novel concept, giving the taxpaying parents what they want. That's way too much for Korenstein who insists it's racially divisive. This in a district where less than 10% are white and even blacks are a small minority.

GOOD RIDDANCE JULIE KORENSTEIN

Los Angeles City Council

On December 16 and 17, 2008 the Council is Awaiting a Quorum for council members who were late.

Here’s a snap shot of what was said as several constituents spoke on non-agenda items on December 16, 2008.

One constituent spoke how Controller Chick has a job to do, but the Council is not allowing her to do her job. This is as bad as Illinois. Council member Alarcon got in office because the other two people backed off, but they have good jobs now.

A second constituent complained how one needs three dollars in change for parking meters near city hall, for one hour parking.

A third constituent asked the council, “Did you do the best for the constituents this year?” People are getting tired of the same nonsense. Ms. Chick I know you need to raise $100,000. If one hundred thousand people could give one dollar toward the $100,000 that Ms. Chick needs. The constituent had the first dollar and asked if he could give this dollar to one of the officers. Council President Eric Garcetti advised the constituent that he could give the money symbolically to Zuma Dogg. He will spend it well or Matt Dowd to put it in the meters (Garcetti remarks were not necessary and needs to practice what he preaches). Where was Deputy City Attorney Dion O’Connell?
