Why Does Obama Hate The Dodgers?

With our Dodgers down 2-zip to the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League Championship Series yet another insult was hurled on the Big Blue Wrecking Crew.

Presidential candidate Barack Obama announced he is rooting for the Phillies.

No doubt Obama has California locked up and needs Pennsylvania votes. But to dis our Dodgers?

Nomar Garciaparra is scheduled to start tonight in game three of the series tonight at Chavez Ravine.

Nomar! NOBama!

(Oh and before some of you humorless dum dums run down your keyboards I don't actually think nor care if Barack Obama hates the Dodgers.)

Michael, c-mon. The man ROOTS for the Phillies and you translate that to he HATES the Dodgers? Your not even having a serious discussion there my friend.

So the question I have for you is this: Why do you HATE Obama?

Do you really believe that McCains policies will help this country?

Do you agree with his proposal to buy $300 Billion in loans at 100% (I thought you guys were all about free markets???)

Do you agree with McCain's policy to TAX employers health benefits as income?

Do you really believe that McCain put his "Country First" when he picked Sarah Palin for VP while bashing Obama's experience as inadequate?

Do you really believe in the McCain strategy of character assasination as a means to win an election while Americans are suffering? While the middle-class is evaporating, 401K's are lucky to be 1K's, the stock market crashes in slow motion, the dollar plummets, the credit markets are seized, consumer confidence is down, unemployment is up, we have a deficit in excess of 10 Trillion dollars, lost 8 Trillion of worth in the last 10 days, spending $10 Billion a month on a war we should have never waged and McCain comes out with "The fundamentals of our economy are strong"?????

How can you even be serious bringing up who supports what sports team as an issue????

I should probably follow that up with yes, I read your disclaimer about not really knowing or caring if he hates the Dodgers, but would love to et a real issue-based discussion going in this headline reading world.

Jim no one ever accused of you of having a sense of humor.

I don't hate Obama. He just scares the shit out of me.

Yes I do believe that McCain's policies (for the most part, there are a few things I disagree with) are a far better alternative to the Bush-Pelosi-Reid-Obama disaster we've faced these last several years.

In theory, I don't at all agree with any of the bailout plans.

That being said we don't have a free market and since government is the problem there is some responsibility for them to help out consumers. Stabilizing housing prices and mortgages is the first step to getting credit markets going again.

It was Pelosi, Maxine Waters, Barney Frank, Obama and others that supported the Fannie Mae nonsense that got us into the mess. Putting them back in charge would be insanity. Sarah Palin is right to both old the financial markets accountable but expect personal responsibility of individuals. People who can not afford a mortgage should not have one no matter how hip or politically correct folks like Obama, Tony Villar or others think it is. That's just simple economics and common sense.

Jim I would not agree with taxing health benefits were it as simple as you put it. The truth is that yes benefits will be taxed, however the tax will be offset by a tax credit, resulting in a net tax decrease over what employees currently while at the same time providing far ranging choices of health care plans to employees - beyond what their employers offer them now - and money left over for portable medical savings accounts.

The truth is no one making under $200,00 would see a tax increase, they would have a choice of health plans and as much as $1600 a year to put into a MSA. Even folks in the 35% bracket (those who make over $350K per year) would still see a net return of $800 to their MSA. At the same time, the McCain plan would open up insurance to about 12 million currently without insurance.

Most importantly, the plan would leave health care in the hands of individuals and the health care industry, rather than turning it over to a government run agency.

Could you imagine getting your health care from the DMV? That's what big government, socialized medicine programs the Democrats push would bring about.

As far as Sarah Palin goes, despite the smear campaign against her by the media, Hollywood and others, she is far more representative of folks across the country and has far more common sense than most elected officials. You can post all the lies that she said she can see Alaska from her house, that she believes dinosaurs walked with man (proven to be a fake post put up by a blogger, not Palin's actual views), the edited interviews, etc. But you can't rail on about McCain engaging in character assassination when he questions the past association, idelogy and lack of candor from Senator Obama.

I do agree that going forward both campaigns are now obliged to spend more time on debating the issues and telling us what they will do, who will be on their team, what their plan is.

And finally I have to give you credit Jim in that you are the first of the McCain-Palin haters to come on the blog to actually post some issues rather than just nonsense.

Obama claiming that McCain's for higher taxes because he'll tax health credits (which no one is getting currently, so the net effect will be much MORE money in everyone's pocket to buy insurance), while at the same time blasting him and the Republicans for cutting taxes for too many for too long -- is typical of how crafty and disingenuous he and his campaign are.

And how dumb the voters are who buy it. Like you here, Jim Alger.

Not that the arguments for support of McPalin from Higby and Haikula (especially her) have been too sharp.

If you wanna talk about rude fans, it was rude for Philly hockey team fans to boo Palin, even if they're not for her policies or just because she isn't a Philly fan.

She actually wins elections.

Even if we accept that Palin is more in touch with what concerns Americans, and that's debatable because of her isolated viewpoint, that doesn't qualify her to be the president of the United States. You and my barber may also reflect what America wants, but neither of you know how to bring about change in Washington.

And I truly don't believe that Sarah Palin or John McCain have a clear understand of the problems that affect millions and millions of Americans: minorities, those living in urban slums, the homeless, those without money in their 401(k) accounts, unemployed factory workers, etc.

McCain's positions? Which McCain?

This confusion is one of the things that sunk McCain's campaign.

There are positions of the old John McCain, the maverick.

Then there are the positions of McCain the presidential candidate whose positions were changed by pollsters and strategists that he wasn't strong enough to stand up to.

So are we to believe that if elected, he revert to his old positions, the ones that came from his heart and mind, or that he would continue with his store bought positions beause they got him elected and they will get him re-elected?

It's extremely to run against the incumbent president from your own party, and your opponent from the other party.

God loves Barak Obama more!

This is getting boring. Another survey that reflects the Obama surge. I had hoped for an exciting race to the wire.

According to USA Today, significantly more monthly churchgoers are supporting Obama. His support among this group is at 60%. John Kerry got 49% in 2004.

This comes from the nonprofit group Faith in Public Life.

McCain has captured 34% of them.

An associate professor at Rice University explained it this way, "They (evangelicals) are more concerned about peace and prosperity than they are about abortion or same-sex marriage."

Speaking of Philadelphia, anyone who know even a little bit about politics knows that you don't let a politician grandstand at a sporting event.

Despite being warned by PA's governor, Sarah Palin wanted to drop the first puck at the hockey game in Philly.

Newspaper accounts were that the boos ranged from "resounding" to being an "avalanche."

Who could forget the time when Eagles fans threw snowballs at Santa Claus?

Fans come to sporting events for the team, and to get away from pandering politicians.

Last Tuesday, CBS affiliate Channel 4 TV News in St. Louis reported that some Missouri sheriffs and prosecutors have formed a truth squad to target anyone who engages in misleading ad or statements about Senator Obama.

Here's the transcript of the lead on the CBS story:

"Senator Barack Obama's presidential campaign is asking Missouri law enforcement to target anyone who lies or runs a misleading television ad during the presidential campaign."

Mayor Sam if you criticize Obama it is racist. You don't have to say something racist but if you criticize him it is racist.

When Obama is President he will have truth squads and the first order of business is to pass "hate speech" legislation that will make it illegal to express anything that appears racist.

Think this is a lie? They already have it in Europe.

Here are some of the comments posted on another blog regarding the Palin appearance at the Flyers' hockey game:

The fans weren't booing her. They were shouting "Mooooose!"

She won't have to be worried about being invited back. The Rangers scored 4 goals against the Flyers in the 1st period.

She's not a hockey mom if she didn't know she'd be booed.

They turned up the music to try and drown out the boos.

Fox News edited out the boos, but here's the unedited video on YouTube.

The concern is over the danger of conducting government business using e-mail systems that don't have the same safeguards as the state's systems.

Top national debate coaches say McCain needs to make vast improvements before the final debate.

One described Obama as "steady and consistent," and McCain as "aimless."

His constant use of the term "my friends" may show that he isn't getting professional training.

The McCain campaign said that his only coach is Brett O'Donnell, who coached the debate team at Jerry Falwell's Liberty University.

He made great improvements with Elizabeth Dole, and was picked by Karl Rove to prepare Bush for his debates with Kerry.

It may be that McCain is simply uncoachable, will continue to think that saying "my friends" is having an impact with anyone, and will continue to ramble and scowl.

Newsweek's survey shows that Obama has opened up a double-digit lead, but that really isn't even the interesting news.

Obama leads McCain 52-41%. A month ago they were tied.

25% say they approve of the way Bush in handling things, close to the record low of 22% for any president.

One topic, the economy is driving Obama's spike, and this could mean more Democrats in Congress.

But the most shocking result is that "only" 86% are dissatisfied with the way things are going, and 10% are satisfied.

Newsweek wonders who these 10% are.

Philadelphia city motto: "The City Of Brotherly Love."

I guess it's time for them to chuck that motto into the garbage can!

I dare those Missouri sheriffs and prosecuters to come over here and try the same stunt. I'll give them cause:

Barack (Barry) Obama:

No leadership.

No executive experience.

No American values.

He's looking out for himself, not for us.

Too naive (after the fashion of Jimmy Carter).

Wants to increase taxes on the wealthy who finance corporate institutions that employ large numbers of Americans.

Former drug pusher.

Associate of leftist educator who is a "former" domestic terrorist.

Open-borders advocate.

Pro-Choice.

Chose an aging dotard as his running mate.

and finally, places the dollar value on higher education at one penny less than $250K.

She let her abusive husband run her office and speak to staff re TROOPERGATE. The attacks against Obama backfired and McCain is a gutless man who used dumb ass Palin to do his dirty work. Now she is getting booed whereever she goes and her favorable numbers are in the toliet. Not the Rock Star the Republicans thought she was.
