Biden's flub will never get old

Joe Biden handled this flub as well as can be expected and he seems like a nice person, but this unforgettable flub will re bemembered (I mean be remembered) for generations. If there is a single complaint about it being a repost, I can assure you that it won't be the last time.

Surprising Decline in Economic Pessimism This Week
Gallup Daily tracking shows consumer pessimism moderating over the past week

PRINCETON, NJ -- Consumer pessimism, although still overwhelmingly high, has declined somewhat in the past several days -- particularly in terms of future economic expectations, with 83% of Americans saying economic conditions are "getting worse" -- down 7 points from last week and only 2 points worse than a month ago.

It's a Horse Race Again

Obama's eight-point lead among registered voters is similar to his margin among this group over the last several days. Gallup's likely voter scenarios show a closer race. Gallup's expanded likely voter model, based on respondents' answers to questions about current interest in the election and intention to vote, shows a 50% to 46% race, which is a more narrow lead for Obama among this group than in previous days. If turnout in this year's election follows traditional patterns by which the voting electorate skews towards those who usually vote as well as those who are interested in this year's election, the race shows Obama leading at 49% to 47%, where it has been among this group for three days.

It's far too difficult for you to be the Minister of Propaganda and give us cherry picked information that favor Republicans. Through the Internet, it's too easy for others to find out what's really happening.

Now you are getting taste for why the Chinese government is trying so hard to limit people's access to the 'Net.

Gallup is showing an Obama lead from between 2% and 4% as you noted. But that's where you stopped the story.

Others show the lead as high as 7%. The difference is, to an extent, the assumptions that each makes for who will turn out to vote. Traditional turnout numbers may not be valid given the huge number of (valid) Democratic registrations, and an larger than normal youth vote. Who will turnout to vote is always a guess.

The that's not as important as the electoral vote count because that's how we elect a president.

In each of polls, Obama has a huge lead. Some have him already at the 270 vote level with solid and leaning states, and not counting the battleground states.

Therefore, it is interesting to note how Obama is doing in these states:

Pennsylvania +13
Florida +4
Missouri +6
Nevada +5
Colorado +7
Ohio Tie
Virginia +6

There are ways to post items that generate discussion and hits without being so partisan about it, as if we're all too stupid to know any of the truth ourselves.

So we know that Colin Powell will make an important announcement Sunday on Meet the Press. If it is, as many suspect, an endorsement of Obama, you can bet the house, or what's left of it, that Higby, Haikula, and the other Repbulican apologists will feel it their civic duty to demean him personally.

So if you reall feel that he is that bad a human being, why not do it now, so it does look like you're ripping him apart just beause of who he supports for president?

6:43, if you say so.

West Virginia has moved from Solid McCain to leaning and now is at toss-up, ditto for North Carolina, Ohio, Indiana, Missouri, Floria and the stunner North Dakota. Even Georgia is showing signs of softening support of McCain and Virginia is almost out of reach which is leaving McCain with very few roads to victory.

At this stage of the game, national polling is irrelevant and state by state polling should begin to tighten up. McCain now needs a complete sweep of ALL toss-up states AS WELL as a pick-up of a handful of current Obama States.

To put this in perspective, Obama could lose Pennsylvania, Ohio AND Florida and would still win the election. There isn't a single poll that says that is likely moreover, with early voting already started, McCain would need a much larger lead to override "banked" votes.

I am not saying it is over by a long shot, GOTV is still a big deal - support means nothing if they don't get out and vote but it is sure looking good.

Hello 7:46pm,

I'd bet dollars to donuts that you've posted more than a few anti-Palin comments here.

Your anticipating the same of us re: Colin Powell, tips your hand a bit.

I would also imagine that you've not posted anything positive here re: Colin Powell until you've heard that he may endorse Obama.

Right? You've posted anti-Palin here, and nothing pro-Powell.

I guarantee no one will believe you if you deny it.

How about this? It would be a big boost for the Obama if Powell with his military and foreign policy experience endorses him.

When it comes to such experience, McCain isn't anywhere near him.

If he endorsed Bush, I would understand. He was once considered a VP candidate. If he endorsed Obama it would not be that he's playing a political game but because he truly wants to endorse the best person for the job.

My posts regarding Palin have not been negative ones, but rather ones that helped expose and explain the reasons why she is totally unfit to be president.

Your turn!

But I think my fifth grader is more informed about current political issues than Haikula nd Higby combined.

Colorado - McCain moved up in latter part of week, RCP has Obama at +6

Ohio - Obama flatline, McCain upward tick, Ohio Newspaper Poll has McCain at +2., RCP Obama at +3

Virginia - McCain moving up but still a bit behind Obama

It's a horse race.

North Dakota has moved to "toss up" along with West virginia. You can make yourself believe this is a horse race if you want to, I suspect you have a healthy affinity for Santa Clause and the Tooth Fairy as well.

This race is not as close as it looks on national polls. In fact if you average all blue states and every single toss-up state (NV, ND, MO, IN, OH, WV, NC, and FL) Obama enjoys an average lead of 10.9. (11.9 if you throw in HI which has Obama ahead by 41 so I left that out of the equation)

With 2 weeks to go does it seem likely that McCain has a prayer? Of course not, but that doesn’t make for good TV which is why some people believe it is a "horse race".

By the way, Pennsylvania "Obama down .2" is true but that just means he leads by 13.4 instead of 13.2. (Obama 53.6 McCain 40.2, put a fork in PA)

FLORIDA, you picked one poll out of 6 (the ONLY one that shows McCain ahead) The RCP average in Florida: Obama 49.2, McCain 46.0 (Obama +3.2)

MISSOURI, While CNN and ARG show McCain up by 1 and 3 43spectively, you of course left out the Rasmussen and Survey USA which show Obama up by 6 and 8 respectively.

I could go on but you guys get the point. If you have to cherry pick and spin your poll results, you're probably going to lose but here is a bigger point.

Obama can lose EVERY SINGLE STATE YOU LISTED (which he obviously won't) and he would still win the election.

How on earth is that a Horse race?

Try to retain a FEW brain cells, doofus. That was undoubtedly Ms Haikula who deleted those two comments. She's the "author" of the post and has a button to the sh*t chute. Those two comments must've been real burning probes, rude intrusions, or just off-the-wall stupid to have her smash them though. I've found her to be open minded and tolerant at least for a Finn. But funny she doesn't look Finnished.
