Wally Sherwin, 89

You may not know him by name but you might remember his appearances in the famous Adee Plumbing and Heating commercials, "Adee Do!"

Wally Sherwin born August 26, 1918 passed away Wednesday in Van Nuys. Wally was a noted TV/Radio executive Los Angeles for decades for a number of stations but most notably at KABC Talkradio where he hired a then unknown college professor named Dennis Prager who is now a nationally known syndicated radio host and author.

Speaking of legendary, local Los Angeles television commercials, can you believe that Cal Worthington is still around!

Excuse me, Higby,

I just wasted two minutes of my life watching the Worthington clip thinking that there was something INTERESTING there.

I demand a refund.

Thank you for your post about Wally Sherwin. He was absolutely one of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I met him when I worked for a surgeon that had operated on his hip, and during his many visits to the office, he became more than just a patient...he became my friend. One year I was on the planning committee for a charity luncheon hosted by the Arthritis Foundation. I asked Wally if he would attend as one of our "Celebrity Guests". He was afraid that he wasn't celebrity enough to be there, but agreed to do it for me. As it turns out, he was the hit of the event, as everyone remembered him from his Adee-Do commercials and wanted of course to hear him say that famous line! As it turned out, there were some old time radio guys at the function as well, and they were friends of Wally's that he hadn't seen in 20 or more years! I could see Wally beaming that day, as all of the women wanted to talk to him, and his old radio buddies were having a great time sharing stories about the good ol days with each other. When I went to thank Wally for attending that day, before I could say anything, he started thanking me for inviting him, and for getting him back in touch with his friends. He said it was one of the best times he had experienced in a long time! I was so happy to see him looking so happy that day, and I heard that he ended up attending that function a number of times in later years. I since moved away and lost touch with Wally, but for some reason he crossed my mind today. Thank you for posting the information about his passing; I know he will long be remembered as that guy from the plumbing commercial...but he will always be remembered by me as a kindhearted man and a wonderful friend. -Karen W.
