Morning musings and open thread
What with the continual comments about Jamiel Shaw Jr.??
Last shots from the "Sniper" at City Beat
"Red Spotism" from the "WWG Roderick", Delgadillo to sure Time Warner Cable
Who are the local political winners (Maria Elena Durazo) and losers (Villar) in the Obama/Clinton Race??
Word is out that the "BIG HUG" will not run for office in 2009, or is he??......
Okay, Higby, this should put it to rest even for you: David Z reports tonight
that Hertzberg definitely is NOT running for anything this year or next. Says
he'd love to get back in the game, but obviously realized that he doesn't have a
chance. Sayonara.

Jesus, are you guys off; Huggy WILL DEFINITELY run for City Attorney, if not the Mayor's office.Bank on it. He personally told ME.He was going to "just" run for city attorney, because Jack Weiss is such an arrogant, recall-ish, idiot. But he never expected that Antonio would be such a screw-up that he's now considering that office. Can you please show pictures and ask why Antonio always has that idiotic, OPEN MOUTHED grin? He even LOOKS like an idiot in addition to being one.

"But at least for now, the juicier postelection talk was over the almost embarrassing victory by Villaraigosa’s first cousin John Perez, who spent a small fortune — and benefited from a huge independent campaign by big labor groups, yet only modestly beat the total votes won by three unfunded rivals who had no chance of winning."
WHO CARES HOW MUCH HE WON BY? All that matter is that Villar has consolidated more power (at the Assembly level) and no matter how thin the victory, he will be over of 100% of the money. They don't care if they use an Airbus to drive across the street to 7-11. It's not their money...and that's why the grassroots people will never win.

It's pretty funny that even now, you're still going after Mike Trujillo. The guy has gone all over this country working in one of the most intense Presidential Primaries in recent history, and you continue to mock him.
While you sit at home on your computer, wondering what excitement awaits you around the corner, he's out there working on real campaigns and making his mark on local, state, and national politics.
What about you Red Spot - What's been the highlight of your insignificant life? Hmmmmm, I don't think it's anything near as exciting or fulfilling as what Mike Trujillo has done recently... or ever.

LA Weekly has a Jill Stewart AND a Jill Steward??
That must get really fucking confusing.

Since when is being the driver for an undisciplined, unprincipled politican fulfilling?
Every campaign that Trujillo has worked has been overfunded and through back room deals virtually pre-decided. How is this making your mark on the world.
Let's see if he can take a principled, underfunded, unknown candidate and garner a victory. Then he can claim to have made his mark on the world. People who leave their mark on the world don't take the easy way every day.

Mayor Villaraigosa endorsed Presidential Candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton, as everyone is aware she lost the race. He also endorsed Sen. John Kerry and Kerry lost. Presidential Hopeful Sen. Barack Obama should let Villaraigosa take care of City business and avoid Villaraigosa’s possible three beat.

Right on, 12:42.
Villaraigosa couldn't pick his NOSE, let alone a winner.
He bankrupted the city. If he continues to campaign, he will lose his gig, more certainly than he's already going to lose it.
I LOVE it when his city hall blogger suggests that the gig is his to keep. Ha! Tell that to the handful of capables that will challenge him for it.
Even Garcetti could wrest it from him!

I suggest Melvin Milktoes could beat Villarbabosa!

Let's not forget the idiot "journalists" at the L.A. Slimes who sold out REAL reporting in order to get "exclusives" that they never got.
All respect for the Times has been lost. At least the Daily News tells (most) of the truths.

In order to run for office, Hertzberg would have to sever his relationship with the law firm where he is a partner and where he is making $$$$$.
Also, not likely that his wife or family would be particularly keen on having to give up the lifestyle they have been enjoying these last several years.....
And so it now looks as though Antonio has a clear field to continue to do what he likes at City Hall....

I want to know who picked up the tab for 35 at The Palm. If it was Hertzberg, it explains his decision.

If you call spending all that time and energy on a total loss "fulfilling" then you must be very fulfilled...of shit, loser.

From the "LA OBAMA TIMES"
Remember the speculation that former Assembly Speaker Bob Hertzberg might be getting ready to make another run for office? Our own David Zahniser has a definitive answer.
That was fast.
Attorney and former state Assembly Speaker Bob Hertzberg invited 35 of his closest friends Wednesday to the Palm Restaurant, the steakhouse in downtown Los Angeles. Then he lowered the boom, saying he's not running for anything, this year or next.
Only last week, Hertzberg told The Times that he had not ruled out a run for city attorney or even mayor in 2009. But at lunch, he told the assembled group -- a crowd that included City Controller Laura Chick, political consultant John Shallman, attorney Mickey Kantor and lobbyist Tim McOsker -- that he will instead continue to work professionally on "green technologies," such as wind turbines and lightweight solar panels.
Hertzberg sounded only slightly wistful about his decision. "It would be fun to be in the game," he said hours later.
With a runoff in the county supervisor's race and the presidential contest finally sorted out, there should be plenty to watch from the sidelines.

Pay me like you pay him and I will work my a=== off and make my mark to make a change in this country in the City, State and Federal politics.

Anybody who's ever worked on a big-time presidential campaign, well-funded OR underfunded, in a meaningful position (and it doesn't even have to be running several state primary campaigns like Trujillo did) knows it's one of the most intense, interesting experiences they'll ever have.
It doesn't matter whether the candidate ultimately becomes president - if you win a given primary you feel like a winner for a short time, and then move on to the next one - primary or campaign. And you come out of the whole experience with all kinds of contacts and connections that can help you for the rest of your career.
No matter what you think of Trujillo as a person or political operative, people who smack his recent experiences as somehow worthless are people who don't know what the frig they're talking about. But that's nothing new among MS posters, is it?

He's running, and then he's not running. He's running for City Attorney, then he's running for Mayor. He enjoys "being in the game," but then he also enjoys the lifestyle of a private citizen.
HEY HUGGY HERTZBERG, MAKE UP YOUR FUCKING MIND!!!!!
