If not now, when? You all know the story. My son, Jamiel A. Shaw, II, was murdered, March 2, 2008. Three doors from our home. His mother was in Iraq, defending our Country! The person accused of killing my son was released from Jail, March 1, 2008. He was released back into the very community he had been terrorizing. The Los Angeles County Community. But we all know, he wasn't supposed to be released back into our community. He is an illegal alien. He is an illegal alien, gang banger! He was supposed to be deported back into the Country he was born in.
It makes me angry to hear a few people blame my son. We teach our kids to be good respectable kids. We taught Jas these things. He was taught to read the bible and to stay in school and stay out of trouble and obey his parents. I told Jas the importance of having a clean record. I taught him everything I could. Now all of a sudden this is not good enough. It's not good enough to have a clean record and no prior contact with the police. It's not good enough to stay in school. It's not good enough to be active in the community. It's not good enough to stay busy. It's not my son's fault, he was just an American Citizen walking home? Don't blame my son.
My son was a teenager in the 21st Century and he was still on the right track! We all know that it's harder for kids today then it was for us adults. That's why I kept him so busy. We kept him doing things and we kept him focused. He wasn't going around sprinkling Holy Oil on people, but he was my best friend! He was a good kid. He was still growing! He was 17 years old and it was home stretch. He was gunned down from someone outside of our community. Not someone in the community. All the kids in our community knew my son. My son spent 17 years in this community. They all went to school together. I will continue to repeat, "Jas was an American Citizen"! He was walking home and talking on the telephone and then he was gunned down!
Where are the Activist who are standing against Illegal Alien Gang Bangers?
Anita keeps saying, "My Country let me down". "My Country let me down!". It's true. The people in charge did let her down! They let me down. My son and my family and the American people are being let down! We're fighting a war over there and our kids are being gunned down over here. Who's protecting the American kids? Our kids are in a war against illegal alien gang bangers. Jas was shot in the chest and in the head. He was killed because of the color of his skin. The killer saw a black kid walking!
For those who want to say it's my son's fault because of a "so-called" my space page? That's just stupid! Keep in mind the person arrested for killing my son had just got out of jail 28 hours earlier. He wasn't online! When you put the pieces together you will see that it was a gang related hate crime. There are people that want to label my son a gang banger when they know that he was not. They don't want to add a hate crime so they try to call it gang on gang, but it wasn't gang on gang. They want to make it ONLY gang related because there's money in Gang Intervention programs. It's not just gang related, it's hate too!
Sheriff Baca spoke at a Town Hall Meeting about a week after my son was murdered. He looked at me and my family and talked about shot callers in jail, giving orders to kill black people. We have a video of him speaking. This is not something our family is making up. He spoke about hate crimes. Hate chargers need to be added! There is evidence to make the charge. The person accused of killing my son was released from jail on March 1, 2008 and by March 2, 2008 he already had a killing crew! He had a driver, he had a gun and he had people in the car to help terrorize the City. He had help. My son was the one helpless. The shot caller gave the orders. My son just happened to be walking home while the killing crew came to visit a neighbor that wasn't home.
Since my son was killed, we have learned much about illegal alien gang members in our community. We have information that 1,000 men are being released from Los Angeles County Jail's every single day! That's 7,000 a week and 28,000 a month. We were told that no one checks immigration status on these 1,000 men. My family and myself and concerned people in the community went to the Board of Supervisor's last week to try and get some answers.
According to Supervisor Antonovich and Supervisor Burke, the Board of Supervisor's are going to hold hearings about what happened in my son's case. Also, what is happening with all of the other people who have been victimized by illegal alien gang members that are being released back into our communities. The Supervisor's are going to speak with the Sheriff Department and with ICE and with the Probation Department very soon. Our side will be calling the Supervisor's this week and asking them when will they be holding these hearings. Please feel free to let your voice be heard too! They already know what the problem's are. They really don't need the hearings. But they feel they do, so we will see what happens.
We were also told by one of Sheriff Baca's top men, that the Sheriff Department does deport illegal aliens. It didn't happen with the person arrested for killing my son. However, we are supposed to be meeting with The Sheriff's Department in about a week. They are not saying that the information we have about 1,000 men being released each day without anyone checking for immigration status is incorrect, but they are saying that they are deporting illegal aliens. When people speak up things happen! I'll keep you informed.
Council member Zine's staff called my house last week and he wants to meet. I agreed to meet with him next week. Anita and one of my sister's will go with me. I will hear him out and I will also let him know that Jamiel's law should be introduced on the City Council's Agenda so that it can be openly talked about. I believe the City Council should give the people in the community the right to be heard. When we gathered together at the City Council to speak about Jamiel's Law, we were told to speak during public comments. We were told that the Council member's would not be allowed to respond to our concerns because we were not on the agenda to speak. When we called and asked how we can get Jamiel's Law on the agenda, we were told that one of the Council member's must introduce Jamiel's Law. So, if the Council members don't want to talk about illegal alien gang members, the Council members don't have to? Is it me, or is this wrong?
I obviously want to talk with Council member Zine about supporting Jamiel's Law and why I think supporting Jamiel's Law is the right thing to do. Afterall, Walter Moore did introduce Jamiel's Law before Zine introduced Zine's Motion. Seems like they should have Jamiel's Law on the Agenda before they put Zine's Motion. The good thing is that Zine is trying to do something about illegal alien gang bangers. He was able to get some support from the Council Members. I'll hear him out and hopefully he will hear me out...and I'll tell you what happens. Is there anything that anyone would like me to ask him? I'm focused on Jamiel's Law, but maybe there's a question you may want Council Member Zine to answer. If I can help, let me know.
As some may already know, Anita is back! She returned May 1, 2008. She wanted me to thank everyone for their prayers and to thank all of the people that took the time to write Compassionate Reassignment letters to the Army. They helped! The Army assigned her about 10 minutes from the house and she will not have to return to Iraq! That's good news!!
Lastly, last week my family and I filed a formal complaint against Deputy District Attorney, Michele Hanisee. Deputy District Attorney Michele Hanisee, told family members and myself, that we need to stop wearing our Jamiel's Law T-Shirt's and we need to stop talking about Special Order 40. She said that Special Order 40 has nothing to do with our case.
Deputy District Attorney, Michele Hanisee falsely accused my son of being a gang banger. She said that she is going to say that he is a gang banger because she needs a motive. To this day, I still don't understand why she would do something like that!! I tried to tell her that he is not a gang banger. I even told her that the Los Angeles Police Department stated that my son is NOT a gang banger and he is NOT in any gang data base. Hanisee refused to hear what we had to say. She said that Special Order 40 is good for immigrants. She went on to say other things. Although District Attorney, Steve Cooley did remove her from the case, (replacing her with two Deputy District Attorney's), we believe this matter needs to be investigated!
We filed the complaint against Deputy District Attorney Michele Hanisee with the California State Bar and with the Head Deputy District Attorney, at the District Attorney's Office. It doesn't seem right that the Lawyer for the People should attack the victim's. We believe she violated policy and maybe more than policy.

Mr. Shaw, thank you for continuing your fight for the memory of your son and for working towards fixing the city's illegal alien crime problem. Thanks to Mayor Sam, too, for providing Mr. Shaw with a place to keep people updated.
I hope Zine does the right thing and introduce Megan's Law to the Council. He should force some of the Council members to defend illegal immigration in public.

Every single elected official who refuses to support Jamiel's Law needs to be voted out of office. Instead of protecting their beloved illegal alien criminal gang bangers they need to represent American citizens. It is disgusting to watch the Mayor, the police chief and the council members posing for photo ops, taking unnecessary out of country trips and refusing to discuss our real problems with citizens. It's going to be a long fight but Jamiel and Anita will not be intimidated by the cowards running this city.
I'm not sure that going after the Asst. DA Michelle Hanisee is the right thing -- it was DA Steve Cooley whose entire office failed to identify Espinoza as an illegal, who's just as responsible for letting him back out onto the streets as the Sheriff's Dept. who's in charge of the jails, and ICE. According to challenger Asst. DA Steve Ipsen, Cooley has a far bigger staff than either of these offices: hundreds of investigators and a thousand lawyers, who could and should be IN the jails, working to identify and deport illegals. (Although keep in mind that when they're deported, if they can just come right back into the country illegally, as they usually do, they're not really "punished" by deportation -- deportation needs to be coupled with stronger deals with their home countries to KEEP them in jail.)
As for the "hate crime" issue, vs. gangs: Espinoza's gang 18th St. and the P Stone Bloods operating in your neighborhood are said to be at war, and going back and forth attacking suspected rival members. So allegedly Espinoza THOUGHT Jas was a gang member, and that's why the DA's office would say it's not a hate crime, but a gang crime -- there are often innocents caught in the middle of gang wars, and yes their color is relevant in why they're mistaken, but that's not like saying, "I'm going to shoot a black man," but "I'm going to shoot someone who looks like a P Stone Bloods member." Your target should be the way Cooley does business in general, not so much this one DA.
We'd all like to see more figures -- many people who work in gang intervention, insist that there are not many illegals involved in gangs and to claim that is "xenophobia." Other figures say that of the known 80,000 gang members, a large number are illegals. Also, what number are the kids of illegals, of people who come here illegally and are citizens because of our generous laws, but are obviously not a positive contribution to society? It's hard to argue the issue without figures. My own family came to this country as legal immigrants, and had to endure many years of hardship in a detention camp waiting until their "national quota" allowed them in, even though my parents had an aunt they could stay with who was a citizen. They never took one dollar of welfare or benefits they didn't earn, and this attitude of "entitlement" of illegals today is what makes us sick. They feel they should come here illegally, and automatically have the "Right" to be middle class homeowners, or else march in the streets and scream "racism and discrimination," their leaders too.
If other communities had as many vicious gangmembers as this, they'd be ashamed, not supporting them staying here. There are Vietnamese and Korean and Chinese gangmembers, but the community does not support them. They do not say society, the country they came to illegally, must pay to turn them into decent human beings -- Asians have a strong belief that that is the family's failing. Like you, we believe family responsibility must be taken into account in these cases.

Yes, thank you Mr. Shaw for working at fixing the illegal alien crime problem. Now if you could fix the illegal alien problem alltogether, how fantastic!!! This country, state, city,county would not be in the financial bind it's in, if all our hard earned money was not being used on illegal aliens' needs for schooling, medical care,housing, food stamps. And please folks, you know who you are, don't tell me this is NOT happening...
4:02: So now everyone who can tell the distinction between a gang crime and a hate crime is this Don Q? That's no way to get support for your side. Wrong is wrong. So when a black gangmember kills or attacks a Mexican bystander he mistakes for a member of a Latino gang, because the guy might be wearing a piece of clothing of a certain color, that's a "hate crime" too? Look, this war's had Mexicans and blacks at each other for a long time, and since they're both "people of color," it goes both ways.
Although if it was a white gang going after blacks or Mexicans, OR vice versa, the crime would be no worse and no less. People are people.
A friendly word of advice: making a big thing about "hate" crime vs. gang crime is gonna cost sympathy, and detract from the issue at hand.

As long as we have a Mexican Mayor and so many Mexicans on the City Council, coupled with the white ones who are scared to make a peep, then Special Order 40 won't be touched. There needs to be massive action in the streets, but we're outnumbered by the illegals. When you get 1 million illegals marching, you're in trouble. The only hope is for the feds to crack down and stand on every corner asking for ID. Yes, that sounds like Big Brother, but we're at the point where this country has been taken over. We need to take it back. Thank you Jamiel Senior for leading the charge, even though it took a tragedy for this to come to light.

Mr. Shaw i appreciate what your doing because these illegal aliens are allowed to come to our country and terrorize our communities. They also receive welfare/medi-cal benefits without proof of their identify.US Citizens don't even have those rights! They're part of the reason that we are in a financial crisis.
Our jobs are also being lost to some of these illegals. If they can speak English good enough they're hired because they are Bi-Lingual. Next time you go out to eat, to a shopping plaza or even LA County facilities,etc. look around and see whose working there!
They're right when they say Villaraigosa and other Hispanic Leaders wont do anything. It makes you wonder how many of these illegals are related to those Politicians.
I disagree with one of the comments when they stated you should go after Steve Cooley only. I feel that Michele Hanisee needs to be dealed with as well. Her misconduct shouldn't go unnoticed either.
All Prosecutors who commit wrong doing are just as much to blame as their superiors! No one should get a slap on the wrist, because its the innocent and the community that sufffers. I support special order 40! Keep your head up and don't get discouraged.
