Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Sunday

Think what you might about Zuma Dogg and Matt Dowd but if what the Mutt reports is true, I am aghast. While holding down a Venice Beach performance space for Dowd as the Kiwi gadfly ran an errand, Zuma was hassled by Venice Beach officials and LAPD officers who wanted to hand the space over to a "performer" who juggles machetes from a ladder. Oh yea that's really something servants of public safety should be protecting!

An audit by City Controller Laura Chick makes the finding that Los Angeles World Airports chief Gina Marie Lindsay did not unlawfully influence two different evaluation panels to choose a contractor which she had previous ties to in the awarding of lucrative construction contracts at LAX. However, insiders at the Airports department say otherwise.

Yet another tax increase! Assemblyman Mike Feuer got his fellow members to pass a local sales tax increase to fund the MTA. However you'll get a chance to vote on it, probably in November.

South Bay Area Congresswoman Laura Richardson who lost a home in Sacramento following foreclosure has two other homes in Long Beach and San Pedro that have fallen into default at least six times according to The San Diego Union Tribune. Richardson acknowledged using her personal funds to pay for her campaigns instead of paying her bills. She will face two challengers in Tuesday's Democratic primary.

Looks like Bob Blumenfield has secured the animal wacko vote. Too bad cats and dogs can't vote though. Well at least not yet; don't put any ideas in Richard Alarcon's head.
And finally, If you're looking for some interesting family entertainment, check out the Toy Theatre Festival at the Music Center on June 14th. Toy Theatre is a genre of puppetry in which plays are enacted using two-dimensional rod puppets in a small model theatre.

The posting by the LAWA insider raises serious questions and reinforces the belief that Laura Chick uses her office as a political tool, punishing her enemies and looking away when it comes to her allies. The last time Chick "heard" allegations of contract rigging at LAX she demanded a federal investigation that smeared Hahn and opened the door for her buddy Antonio. Remember her "private" briefings for Hahn's opponents during the campaign? Now she can look into the LAX situation and pronounce it clean in about 10 minutes. This comes only weeks after her public support for Marcus Allen to return to City Hall from the Dark Side to work for the mayor and get an astounding $290,000 a year. What happened to her criticism of contractors and lobbyists? The media, hooked on her selective leaks and provocative sound bites, have given this woman a free ride for too long. I see on Ron Kaye's blog that he raises similar questions. He also criticized her recent LAFD audit and called it a "whitewash."

do you think Richardson is addicted to public office?

I've heard of people so addicted to drugs or gambling that they waste away money meant for bills, but this is something new. Is there a 12-stop program for her?

Maybe there needs to be a law that you can't contribute money to your own campaign until your bills are paid.

Finally it is coming to light that Laura Chick's office is nnothing but a cover up political machine. I personally know that her office has had a chance to investigate city hall corruption but looked the other way in order to get support for her future political election. It is obvious that there was corruption in the procuring of services when Chick's only defense of it was to say since there were no rules there is no foul.

How can anyone think that this one woman can fix everything in the city? YEs, she gets a lot of good press for doing as much as she does, but she seems to often hire outside firms -- how many investigators does she have in house?

And look at the macho head-butt/ get out of my face you little bitch, she got from Tony Cardenas when she took him on, on one fairly clear issue.

No way she could directly challenge the ethno-centric pandering going on in city hall by Reyes/Alarcon/ Cardenas (Huizar isn't as much of an instigator), Fuentes, Gil Cedillo and Bye=bye=Mexican Nunez.
