According to Google Analytics:
In April of 2008, we had 31,673 visits compared to 21,310 in April of 2007, a net increase of 48.63%. Pageviews were also up; 59,315 this April compared to 39,711 in April of last year increasing by 49.37%.

I think I account for a quarter of the visits.
Does the count include re-visits by the same person?
Anyway, just please stick to local politics instead of the other crap like entertainment. We can get THAT news plenty of other places.

Those numbers are a total lie Higby. Noone believes it. Look at the comments you have about 15-20 people a day max. You are probably hitting refresh with your fat finger 1000 times a day.

....I was city editor of that other Black newspaper six years ago when the predominantly White Police Protective League launched an attack on Parks which culminated in Hahn, the White mayor, cutting him loose, with the concurrence of the predominantly White Police Commission and City Council. Even though I had serious problems with Parks as police chief, I was incensed by what all those White people were doing to him and I used the bully pulpit of my paper to help whip up rage against those people, to circle the wagons against those people who were bringing down a Black man. Our support for Parks had nothing to do with his being chief, and everything to do with his being Black....Yes, the instinct to close ranks racially does come to the fore, and to quote my grandpapa gain, “sometime it be like that.” And it was like that then. That instinct caused Marion Barry to be re-elected mayor of Washington D.C. after the FBI videotaped him smoking crack cocaine before he was sentenced to prison for a drug conviction. We in L.A. did it when our current Latino mayor tried to promote his personal agenda by running his handpicked candidate for the Board of Education against our chosen incumbent, Marguerite LaMotte. We were gearing up to do it when that same mayor played musical Negroes with the Transportation Department manager’s job, and I dare say we will do it again if we perceive anything racially untoward happening to LAUSD Superintendent David Brewer.Connie Rice who headed the blue ribbon panel’s investigation of the Rampart scandal and who sued Parks for the conduct of his police officers, was the only prominent African-American in the city who did not flip-flop, as she always pressed for his ouster as chief

I saw Higby in Sunland-Tujunga. He gained like 200 pounds since the last time I saw him.

Yes, I, too, revisit the blog many times a day and wonder if those revisits are considered "new" individuals coming to the blog. Seriously, I check to see if anyone responds and could easily click a dozen times before it gets updated.
