Patt Morrison wonders why the Mayor and City Council won't hold hearings on the new City Budget until the middle of next month - long after it's picked apart by every faction of dum dum out there. Patt's view is the folks who pay the bills and don't get the services should be able to give their view on Los Angeles' budget priorities well before the document is drafted. Patt either didn't know or didn't mention that the Mayor did meet with a few select Neighborhood Council leaders for coffee, so give him a break!

Message from City Hall to L.A. residents: vote for us so we can raise fees and taxes in order to provide services to those who don't or can't always pay their share of fees and taxes.
Two cities here: the one that elects, the one that is governed and needs more public services.

Secret Service Catch Mexican Official Nabbing White House BlackBerries

Whether he was up to no good or simply desperate to play BrickBreaker, a Mexican press attaché was caught on camera by Secret Service pocketing several White House BlackBerries during a recent meeting in New Orleans, FOX News has learned.
Sources with knowledge of the incident said the official, Rafael Quintero Curiel, served as the lead press advance person for the Mexican Delegation and was responsible for handling logistics and guiding the Mexican media around at the conference. He took six or seven of the handheld devices from a table outside a special room in the hotel where the Mexican delegation was meeting with President Bush earlier this week.
Everyone entering the room was required to leave his or her cell phone, BlackBerry and other such devices on the table, a common practice when high-level meetings are held. American officials discovered their missing belongings when they were leaving the session.
It didn't take long before Secret Service officials reviewed videotape taken by a surveillance camera and found footage showing Quintero Curiel absconding with the BlackBerries.
Sources said Quintero Curiel made it all the way to the airport before Secret Service officers caught up with him. He initially denied taking the devices, but after agents showed him the DVD, Quintero Curiel said it was purely accidental, gave them back, claimed diplomatic immunity and left New Orleans with the Mexican delegation.
It is unclear what disciplinary measures, if any, await him in Mexico. White House spokeswoman Dana Perino refused to discuss the incident, telling FOX News, "We are aware of the situation, but as it's under investigation by law enforcement officials, we will decline to comment."

• In Los Angeles, 95% of some 1,500 outstanding warrants for homicides are for illegal aliens. About 67% of the 17,000 outstanding fugitive felony warrants are for illegal aliens.

Police officers say the proportion is probably much greater. The gang collaborates with the Mexican Mafia, the dominant force in California prisons, on complicated drug distribution schemes, extortion, and drive-by assassinations, and is responsible for a number of murders, assaults, or robberies every day in LA County.
• The Columbia Li’l Cycos gang, which uses murder and racketeering to control the drug market around L.A.’s MacArthur Park, was about 60% illegal in 2002, says former Assistant U.S. Attorney Luis Li. Frank "Pancho Villa" Martinez, a Mexican Mafia member and illegal alien, controls the gang from prison, while serving time for felonious reentry following deportation.
IT SHOULD SCARE THE HELL OUT OF ALL OF US THAT THESE NUMBERS ARE WAY UP IN 2008.
Before we give him break, how did the mayor choose the "few select Neighborhood Council leaders" for coffee?
