Blumenfield Suffers Party Defeat
Bad news for Democratic 40th Assembly District candidate Bob Blumenfield who was dealt a significant rebuke by the California Democratic Party during its convention this past weekend. Nearly 60% of Democratic delegates at the state convention overturned Bob Blumenfield’s endorsement recommendation, leaving the state party with a ‘No Recommendation’ position in the 40th Assembly District.
Blumenfield's opponent Stuart Waldman's campaign issued the following statement:
Blumenfield's opponent Stuart Waldman's campaign issued the following statement:
"The endorsement reversal on the convention floor was historic; such a turnaround has only occurred three times in the past decade. The vote was brought to the floor after Waldman’s team of volunteers successfully collected over 460 delegate signatures – far more than the 300 needed – in less than 5 hours. Waldman said, 'This was a rejection of Blumenfield’s back-room deal politics that allowed him to stack the local caucus vote with over 20 brand-new delegates. I am pleased that rank and file Democrats recognized my years of service to the party and voted to keep the California Democratic Party out of this race.' Calitics.com blogger “Robert in Monterey” wrote that the rescinded AD 40 endorsement was evidence of 'a huge divide between the party grassroots and the Sacramento leadership in particular.'"The Waldman campaign, having received the endorsement of the Democratic Party of the San Fernando Valley, quickly claimed the support of the Democratic rank and file over Blumenfield and decried the "backroom politics" that failed to engineer an endorsement for the Congressional aide.

Did Healey drop out?

No, she'll probably win. Those stupid endorsements mean nothing. No money. No door knockers. No callers. Just their names on mailers. Big whoop.

Healey, Waldman and Bob all have about the same amount of money. Healey doesn't spend it wisely. Each of them will flood your box.

A message from Dan McCrory on upcoming State Labor Fed Endorsement Convention.
Brothers and sisters,
Building on our successful block of Bob Blumenfield's endorsement by the Democratic Party at the Convention last week, we and other candidates, all of whom have some labor endorsements, are taking our case to the State Labor Fed convention in LA next week to try to overturn Bob's endorsement at the County Fed. We'll be satisfied with an open endorsement so unions can back their candidate. Don't let the Change to Win coalition hold our process hostage.
I have been assured by several CWA brothers and sisters that they will be there in force. (One of the reasons I was not able to overturn this endorsement at the LA County Fed was due to the shortage of CWA members the night of the meeting. I missed overturning the endorsement by ONE VOTE!!!)
Some labor leaders are backing Bob because they owe Congressman Berman a favor. Some because Bob has the Berman/Waxman machine behind him and lots of money. Some think I'm overreaching. Ed Rendon of the Teamsters told me, "A man has to know his limitations." Did Cesar Chavez or Martin Luther King listen to that kind of advice? Rendon said I should have run for school board or water board first. How many union members can I help at those positions?
Tom Moxley from the Ironworkers who spoke very eloquently in my support at the County Fed meeting stated it correctly, "Younger members are going to see a seasoned veteran get turned aside and think, 'Why should I try to run for office?'" This sends the wrong message to the next generation and to working families in the district.
I wear a button when I walk the precincts. It says, "Kicking ass for the working class" and the message resonates with voters. They're tired of business as usual and a candidate who hasn't walked a mile in their shoes or worked a "real" job. A retired doctor sat down and immediately wrote a check for the campaign. A Republican homeowner asked for a voter registration form so he could change parties to vote for me.
I'm meeting this Friday with various gaming tribes where I am expecting major support because, if elected, I'll be the first Native American in the California legislature.
PLEASE attend the State Labor Fed meeting and support me or have someone from your local, your branch or your lodge show up. Let's get the California labor movement back on message. Help me get an OPEN ENDORSEMENT. Thank you.
In unity and respect,
Dan McCrory

I know I am probably blowing in the wind, but rather than supporting a candidate who is beholding to the Berman/Waxman machine, the labor unions,or other special interest groups, why not, for once, elect a candidate who has no obligations or interests other than to do what is needed for the 40th AD and whose only interest is to represent the constituents of her district: Armineh Chelebian, the Republican candidate for the 40th AD.
Isn't it time to end machine politics and special interest pandering?

Sure, because republican candidates are beholden to no one.

Not this Republican candidate.
