"Duty, Honor, Character" A Fallen Hero

This from the LAPD Blog.

Shortly, after 9:00 last night, the Los Angeles Police Department's Communications Division received a 911 call from a home in West Valley in the 19000 block of Welby Way. The caller indicated he had killed 3 of his family members. West Valley Patrol Units responded to conduct an investigation.

The suspect refused to leave the home and LAPD SWAT was called to the scene. Around 12:30 this morning, SWAT made entry into the home and an exchange of gunfire between the officers and the suspect occurred. Two veteran SWAT officers were shot, removed from the home and rushed to Northridge Medical Center. The incident at the home in West Valley is still ongoing, and for that reason there will be no more tactical information released at this time.
Despite the efforts of the Los Angeles Fire Department and hospital personnel, one of the officers passed away just after one'clock this morning. The other officer was seriously wounded but will survive. The names of the officers will not be released until all of their family members have been notified.
The members of the Los Angeles Police Department are deeply saddened this morning having lost a member of their family. Our hearts and prayers go out to the families of these two brave officers. Both have served this city for more than 25-years and have been a part of SWAT for 20 of those years.
The concept of SWAT originated in the late 1960s, and became fully operational in 1971 when personnel were assigned on a full-time basis to Metropolitan Division. Until this morning, no SWAT officer had been killed in the line of duty despite thousands of incidents this elite unit has responded to in thirty plus years. The only other SWAT Officer to have died on duty was Officer Lou Villalobos, who died during a training accident in March 2000.

What's unbelievable is that all the council members and Mayor were yelling about the May 1st incident and slamming LAPD even though NOT one person was seriously injured or killed. YET, an LAPD veteran officer is killed in the line of duty and they act as if its business as usual. WHERE IS ALL THE YELLLING AT THE GANG BANGER WHO KILLED AN OFFICER YOU FUCKERS!!!!!

WHERE IS THE PROTEST FROM YOU (CITY COUNCIL) ASSHOLES!!!!

This is why LAPD officers can't stand Antonio. He is on the news pretending to be really upset because Ofcr. Simmons use to be the security detail for his kids. Yeah, this is one of the finest trained law enforcement officers being wasted on a gang banger mayor's kids. The security detail with Antonio hate him because they spent time away from their families following Antonio all over the country with Hillary. Antonio has no conscience or guilt about using a tragedy and making the story of an officer killed all about him.

Everyone call the Mayor's office and demand he stop having press conf. with city council members as if this is about them.
213/978-0600 (Phone)

Poor LAPD officers can't even mourn in peace with these fuckers trying to take the spotlight away. This is about a brave, courageous LAPD SWAT officer not about Antonio, Weiss, Zine, Perry and the other fuckers who are now in front of the cameras pretending to be sad...

GOod evening Ladies and Gentlemen (places hat over heart):

Our Bard would like to sing. (Bard steps up):

"Day is done.
Gone the sun.
From the lakes, from the hills, from the skies.
All is well.
Safely rest.
God is nigh."

(Bard steps down. Captain puts hat back on head) Carry on lads, and Happy New Year to Madame Wu, savvy?

5:07, the shooter's name (age 20) is in the Daily News article on this. Says his father a Salvadoran immigrant but not if this shooter was born in US and a legal resident. In any case he was a known gangbanger, and "mentally disabled," no less. Geez they'll take and train anyone. Maybe his homies dumped the guy so he killed his own family and barricaded himself in for a "suicide by cop." Only he took out the cop, too.

Simmons was a role model of a police officer and human being because he was religious and cared for the youth of south LA. He is a lesson to us all to give back when we can.

...One of his assignments in SWAT was as contact person for charity efforts, including an annual toy drive at Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital south of downtown Los Angeles. "He was a really great guy. Not only incredibly friendly, but really interested in being of service. You could tell," said Jeffrey Klein, former head of fundraising for Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital, now with Providence Hospital.

Simmons' strong Christian faith was a huge part of his life: he was often called upon to deliver the benediction at SWAT officer gatherings, Massa said. Friends recalled him gently prodding them to go to church, to "get right with God." He prodded them about health matters too, telling them to drink soy milk, and offering workout pointers.

He was involved in helping his congregation construct a gymnasium, Massa said, and would head straight to church after working out. And he worked off-hours mentoring youth in housing projects in South Los Angeles, Craig said. "He was so concerned with at-risk youth," Craig said.

City Council should hang its collective head in shame when its gang-coddling and sanctuary city policies result in innocent deaths.

The Mayor, as despicable as he may be, is the appropriate person to speak up about what happened and convey condolences is his capacity of Mayor. I don’t think the council weasels should step into the picture as officials, except maybe from a personal basis as being friends with the officers.

I expect that the council adjourned early in memory of the deceased and the wounded officers, since they have done so for reasons that are nowhere nearly as justified in the past.

Questions: Why does this blog have so many posts that are just cut-and-pastes of newspaper text just plopped into the post without any attribution to source. A simple LINK would do- Most of the readers have the strength to click on buttons. At least when cutting and pasting, adding your own comment would clarify the purpose, or else why bother posting in the first place?

The officers can't stand the mayor because he was against gang injunctions and caters to gang bangers and illegals. You ask any officer on the street and they will tell you they don't like the Mayor, don't want him at their funerals. This isn't about politics this is about an officer who was killed in the line of duty and Antonio makes it about his kids. Council members like Reyes, Huizar, Alarcon should all go hide. They made outrageous remarks about LAPD after May 1st yet you don't hear them saying anything when an officer gets killed. But you want those assholes show up t the funeral pretending to care

Where's my girl Monica Harmon on this issue.

Those MeCHanista Socialists with Bitter Bernie are so full of shit. God, someone ought to make a deal with the gangbangers and set-up drive bys right through there houses, then you'll see them get tough on Gang violence rather than giving the WORST offenders taxpayer money for their "programs"

4:13 p.m. give the officer's family some time to grieve the death. This early, it is no one's right outside of the family to raise politics. Acculturate yourself, let the family lead for now...
